I was sitting in my room, working on some files. Yes, I couldn’t get anything done at the office, so I brought everything home.

The most irritating part of my day? That Kamina Kabir had the nerve to call my entire family and tell them that I was jealous of him because he’s going on a date—with whom? Sohana!

The moment he dropped that bomb, everyone’s faces turned into a canvas of shock. No one expected it. They were more shocked at my change in behavior, though. I couldn’t blame them; even I didn’t understand why I was acting like this.

Rivaan and Ridhima couldn’t stop giving me teasing looks all day, their faces lit up with mischievous grins. All of this nonsense, courtesy of that damn Kabir.

Wow, fantastic! Maybe I should save his number under “Kamina Kabir.”

I started updating his contact name when a message notification popped up.

Kamina Kabir sent a photo.

“Photo?” My brows furrowed as I opened the message.

And, of course, the next second, I was completely pissed off.

It was a photo of his outfit and the place where they were going for the date.

I put my phone aside, trying to get back to work. But soon enough, I heard the familiar clinking of footsteps. My head shot up, and there they were at the door.

Rivaan and Ridhima.

Both stood there with wide smiles and a sparkle of mischief in their eyes.

I rolled my eyes, directing my attention back to the laptop, hoping they’d leave me alone.

“Bhaaiiiiiii,” they called out in their overly childish tone.

“What?” I asked, my frustration evident in the sharp curve of my lips.

Pehle woh Kamina aur ab yeh Namune.

“Bhai, what are you doing?” Ridhima asked sweetly while Rivaan burst into laughter. My eyes narrowed at him.

“What was the reason for that devilish laugh?” I asked, and he pouted innocently.

“Ridhima, don't you know what Bhai must be doing? He's definitely looking at Dr. Sohana's photos,” he grinned, provoking me further.

“Chup hoja warna tere munh par tape laga dunga.”
(Shut up, or I’ll tape your mouth!)

“Haw! I'm just telling the truth, and you’re threatening me!” Rivaan said dramatically, clearly enjoying himself.

Kamina ka judwa kahinka.

“Bhai? Are you here or lost in your doctor's thoughts?” Ridhima snapped me out of my daze.

“Tell me what you both want,” I asked in a stern tone, trying to shake off their teasing.

“Uh, Bhai, actually Rivaan Bhai…” Ridhima began, glancing at him.

Rivaan’s expression softened. He smiled a little.

“Bhai, you know, I’ve never stayed away from you all before,” he said, his voice taking on a serious tone.

“What do you mean, Rivaan?” I asked, confused, and then he hugged me.

“I’m going to Bangkok for four months,” he said quietly, and my heart softened.

“I know you probably don’t care much but—"

“Shut up! When are you leaving?” I interrupted, hugging him back.

“Tomorrow,” he whispered, his voice betraying the fact that he was on the verge of tears.

And why wouldn’t he be?

He’d never been apart from any of us for long. He’s the most pampered kid in the family, the one everyone dotes on. Even I adore him the most. Whenever things went silent in the house, or I shut myself away, Rivaan was the one who held everything together. Despite being young, he was always so mature.

He never got involved in our family business, though. His passion was always designing, and we supported him in pursuing his dream. Now, he’s working with a prestigious company.

He pulled away from the hug, offering me a small smile.

“But why Bangkok?” I asked, already knowing it had to be something important.

“It’s a great opportunity, Bhai. I’m going there to help select and mentor young designers. My boss chose me because he said I deserve this. And if my students succeed, it will also benefit me.” He explained, his face lighting up with excitement.

“That’s amazing! You shouldn’t pass up this chance. Go get your dream, baby brother,” I said, patting his cheek.

“Yeah!” His voice wavered, and he pulled me in for another tight hug, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.

“Mujhe toh aap log bhul hi gaye.”
(You both have forgotten me.)

Ridhima’s voice piped up from behind, making us chuckle.

“Tu bhi aaja,” we said in unison, holding out our arms.
(You join us too!)

She rushed into the hug, squeezing both of us tightly.

Later, I found myself sitting in our office’s canteen—a place I rarely visit. The moment I walked in, everyone’s eyes were on me. They were probably shocked, knowing I hardly ever leave my cabin unless it’s urgent.

And today, why was I in the canteen? Because I couldn’t concentrate.

Why?

Because today was their date, and I couldn’t shake off this overwhelming feeling of insecurity. Why was it bothering me so much? Why did I feel like something was being stolen from me?

Suddenly, a message popped up on my phone screen.

Kabir: Reached my destination.

Photo of café

Kabir: The decoration.

Photo of decorations

Kabir: Our table.

Photo of the table

Kabir: Me.

“Nikal kamine,” I muttered, tossing the phone aside, annoyed beyond words.

But, of course, he didn’t stop there. Another message pinged on my phone. I tried ignoring it, but it kept buzzing.

I grabbed my phone and scrolled through the photos.

Kabir: My date.

Photo of Sohana.

She was wearing a beautiful blue skirt paired with a white top. A hint of makeup accentuated her features, her lips graced with a nude lipstick that made them look even more plump and kissable. Her cheeks carried a natural blush, and damn, she looked gorgeous.

Kabir: We.

Photo of the two of them.

“This bastard,” I growled, losing control. Without thinking, I stormed out of the canteen, grabbed my car keys, and drove straight to the café.

Fifteen minutes later, I was there. The café wasn’t far from our office.

Walking in, I nodded to the receptionist who bowed in recognition. I glanced around the café until my eyes landed on them.

Her green eyes, her melodious giggles, that beautiful face… with a heart just as beautiful.

Without hesitation, I grabbed a chair and made my way to their table. I pulled it up and sat down. Running a hand through my hair, I looked at both of them.

Sohana was visibly confused, while Kabir had that ever-annoying mischievous glint in his eyes.

I cleared my throat to break the silence. They both blinked at me, Kabir smirking. Ignoring him, I turned my attention to Sohana, offering a smile.

“Hey,” I greeted her softly.

“Hello,” she replied, still confused, her gaze shifting between Kabir and me.

“What are you doing here, man?” Kabir asked, sounding more than a little annoyed.

Tu toh bachne waala nahi hai aaj mere se.

“I came to meet my doctor,” I said, my eyes resting on Sohana.

She was so breathtakingly beautiful.

For the third time today, I found myself silently complimenting her, completely unaware of why I was doing so.

“Why? What happened?” Sohana asked, her voice full of concern.

You.

Wait, what?

The fuck, man.

“Ruhaan, are you okay?” Her sweet voice snapped me out of my thoughts. She was gently shaking my wrist, her eyes filled with worry.

“Ye-yeah, I’m okay. I just… I just wanted to see you,” I stammered, regretting my words immediately.

Kabir burst out laughing, and I shot him a glare to shut him up.

“I mean, I came to show you my cut, the one on my palm,” I quickly corrected myself, extending my hand.

“Yeah, but what’s wrong with it?” she asked, examining the cut.

“I-it’s burning,” I lied, putting on my best sad face.

“What?!” Sohana took my hand, caressing it gently.

“You know, you’re a real jerk, an idiot, a stubborn fool! I told you it wasn’t healed properly and that you needed to apply the ointment. But no, why would you listen to me? You always do whatever you want!” she scolded me, her face flushing with anger.

“Shant,” I whispered, placing a finger on her lips to hush her.

She blinked, looking at me, stunned.

Kabir cleared his throat, forcing us to separate.

What the hell am I doing?

“Hey, Mr. Raichand, you’re ruining my date,” Kabir complained, rolling his eyes.

I came here to do just that.

Muah.

What the hell is happening to me?

Why am I acting like my old self again?

Focus you Ruhaan bitch. Focus.

"Ruhaan, are you listening to me or not?" Kabir waved his hand and I looked at him.

"Yeah yeah, I am. And about ruining your date, then I didn't ruined your date. It's just, I came here for an urgency." I said and looked at him from head to toe.

"Okay, I think the reason for which you came for is all sort out. Then please go from here and let me enjoy my date with my Dr. Sohana." Kabir said and held Sohana's hands.

"Oh hello, she is not your doctor. She is my doctor." I said and looked at her with a small smile.

"To tune kya Sohana ke upar copyright maarke rakha hai." Kabir said and glared at me.
(So have you put a copyright on Sohana?)

"You-

"Shut up you both!" Sohana yelled and glared at us.

"Why the hell you guys are fighting like children. And that to be for me like I am your toy." She said and bored her eyes at me.

I let out a nervous laugh and looked at Kabir.

"Sohana, this Kabir is fighting with me. Not me." I said and she raised her brows.

"Aap toh chup hi rahiye Ruhaan. Tab se main dekh rahi hun bade ajeeb se bartaw kar rahe hain aap. Hua kya hai aaj aapko? Bimar to nahi hai na aap?" She asked, her brows knitted.
(You keep quiet, Ruhaan. Since then I have been noticing that you are behaving very strangely. What happened to you today? You are not sick, are you?)

"No Sohana, I am not sick at all." I told her and she squinted her eyes.

"Then—" Her words were cut off by her phone call.

She picked it up and told us to remain silent. Suddenly her mobile slipped from her hand and fell on the floor.

"Noooo!!!!"
