"Fuck you." Her words caught me off guard, and I raised my brows in surprise.
"What?" I asked, amusement dancing in my voice as I stared at her.
She blinked rapidly, realizing what had just slipped from her lips.
"I mean—" Before she could explain herself, I grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer. I made her sit on the chair beside me, a mischievous smirk curling my lips.
"You really want to know what kind of doctor you are?" I asked, rubbing her hand gently, feeling the warmth of her skin under my touch. She nodded, her lips slightly parted, her curiosity evident.
"Then let me tell you not just what kind of doctor, but what kind of girl you are," I murmured, leaning closer and resting my chin on the desk. Her greyish-green eyes stayed locked with my brown ones, creating an intimate moment between us.
"You’re the kind of girl who can light up someone’s world with just a smile. Someone who can turn the darkest day into something bearable. Your tears…" I paused, feeling a lump form in my throat. "They could break someone’s heart, you know? Those eyes, those beautiful green eyes, they're too precious to ever hold tears."
I watched her expression soften as I continued. "You have this smile that can instantly brighten anyone’s mood. Sure, you can be annoying sometimes, but even that part of you is… cute. Because of your annoying nature, a broken soul can find its way back to happiness. You never stop thinking about others. You're so damn selfless that you forget about your own needs, your own pain."
I leaned closer, lowering my voice. "And how can I forget? You're not just beautiful on the outside. You’ve got this incredible heart, this soul that’s too good for this world."
Her breath hitched, and I took the opportunity to lean even closer, my lips brushing her ear. A sly smirk tugged at the corner of my mouth.
"Also, you're a girl with a dirty mind," I whispered, my voice dropping to a teasing tone.
I pulled back just enough to see the flush creep up her neck, spreading across her cheeks like wildfire. Her face turned a deep shade of red, making her look like the cutest tomato I’d ever seen.
"Shut up!" she whined, her voice high-pitched with embarrassment, and I couldn’t help but laugh.
"When will you ever stop teasing me?" she demanded, squinting at me with a fake frown, her pout making her look even more adorable.
"Never," I replied, grinning at her.
"You’re such a jerk!" she yelled, crossing her arms over her chest like a petulant child.
"Oh, come on! Don’t you have any other word for me? I swear my ears are bleeding from hearing 'jerk' over and over," I said, dramatically cupping my ear like I was in actual pain.
"Very nice!" she huffed, rolling her eyes, clearly unimpressed by my theatrics.
I smirked at her and leaned forward. "You know, you look even cuter when you're angry," I teased, earning another round of eye-rolling from her.
"Really?!" she shot back, raising an eyebrow before smirking. "I’m cute? I know that." She patted her shoulder as if rewarding herself for the compliment.
"Huh, bhutni ho aap," I scoffed, teasing her
(You’re a ghost.)
She glared at me, and before I could even react, her fist landed squarely on my back.
"Owwwwwuuuuchhhh!" I cried out dramatically, clutching my back. "Why do you always resort to violence, woman?!"
She giggled, looking thoroughly pleased with herself. "Serves you right," she quipped, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
I winced, rubbing my back, but I couldn’t stay mad at her. I saw her expression shift from playful to concerned in a heartbeat. Her hand moved gently across my back, her touch soothing.
"I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you," she said, her voice soft, almost panicked. Her worry for me was written all over her face.
I grabbed her arm and pulled her gently into the chair beside me. "Shant, Sohana," I said softly, placing a finger on her lips to silence her.
(Calm down.)
"I know you would never hurt someone on purpose. You’re way too soft-hearted for that." I smiled at her, watching her expression shift again, her concern giving way to a small smile.
"I’m still sorry," she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
I shook my head, wanting to reassure her that everything was fine, but then I glanced at the clock. My eyes widened in panic.
"Oh shit! Shit! Fuck!" I muttered under my breath, my body suddenly filled with urgency.
Her eyes went wide with concern. "What happened?" she asked, her voice laced with worry.
"I’m late! I should’ve been at the company an hour ago," I explained, my hand running through my hair in frustration.
She rolled her eyes again, but this time with affection. "You’re the CEO, Ruhaan. I’m sure the world won’t end if you’re a bit late," she teased, smiling.
"CEO or not, work is work, and it should be done on time," I replied, standing up from my chair. I was about to leave when I turned back to her, the playful glint returning to my eyes.
"By the way, thanks for calling me that. It sounds good coming from you," I said with a wink before I turned and walked out of the hospital, leaving her there, blushing and speechless.

Ruhaan was driving towards his company, but his thoughts were wandering somewhere far from the road ahead.
Sohana.
"That girl has completely taken over my mind," he muttered under his breath, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Everything I said about her today was true. She’s such a pure soul—selfless, kind... too good for this world."
His smile grew wider as the memories of their earlier conversation played in his mind, but then his gaze shifted to the rearview mirror, catching his own reflection. His smile instantly faltered, and he frowned at the image staring back at him.
"Why the hell am I smiling like this?" he muttered, shaking his head, trying to dismiss the foolish grin. He focused back on the road, gripping the steering wheel tightly, as if that could somehow reign in his drifting thoughts.
"Sohana is a really nice girl," he found himself mumbling again, the words slipping out before he could stop them. Realizing what he had said, Ruhaan frowned once more, this time with more confusion than before.
"Why am I constantly thinking about her?" he asked himself, this time with a bored expression. He let out a deep sigh and shook his head. Focus, Ruhaan. Focus. He mentally scolded himself and tried once again to concentrate on his driving.
But then, his eyes caught sight of something—a small lavender flower pot sitting snugly on the car’s dashboard. Sohana had given it to him some time ago, and although he never admitted it, he hadn’t had the heart to throw it away.
He reached out and gently lifted the small pot, holding it in his hands. His thumb brushed against the delicate leaves as he admired it with a soft smile.
"You’re cute, just like her," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "She always finds a way to gift me something." He chuckled softly, grinning to himself.
But then, as if suddenly realizing what he was doing, his expression shifted. Confusion clouded his features, and he slammed the pot back onto the dashboard with more force than necessary.
"What the fuck?" he cursed under his breath, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "Why is my mind constantly drifting back to her?" He sighed heavily, reaching for the radio in a desperate attempt to distract himself.
After flipping through a few stations, the familiar melody of Lae Dooba filled the car. Ruhaan’s fingers froze over the steering wheel, and without realizing it, his lips curved into a soft smile again.
"It’s the same song she was humming that day," he said to himself, lost in the memory of Sohana’s sweet voice.
His inner voice, always ready to tease, spoke up. "Keep thinking about her, Ruhaan. That’s all you do these days, isn’t it?"
Ruhaan’s eyes widened, and he slapped his forehead, shaking his head as if that could silence the nagging voice.
"What the hell is happening to me? Why am I so caught up with my doctor?" he muttered, his mind spinning with confusion.
Doctor? His inner voice teased again. More like the girl who’s capturing your heart.
"Ugh, enough!" Ruhaan groaned, shutting his eyes tight for a moment before snapping them open. "I need to focus on work. Work is the only thing that can get my mind off her."
With newfound determination, he pressed his foot harder on the accelerator, speeding up as he headed towards his company, trying to shake off the lingering thoughts of her.
Once he reached his office, Ruhaan sat at his desk, a fresh cup of black coffee in hand. He opened a file and tried to immerse himself in work, but no matter how hard he tried, his mind kept wandering back to one person.
Sohana.
He groaned, leaning back in his chair and rubbing his temples. It had been over an hour since he’d arrived at the office, and he hadn’t managed to read through a single document. Every time he focused on the words in front of him, her face popped into his mind. The way she laughed, her annoying yet adorable antics, the softness in her eyes when she cared for someone.
"Get a grip, Ruhaan," he mumbled to himself. But even as he said the words, he couldn’t help but imagine her in front of him, her eyes filled with mischief. At one point, when a female employee entered his office, he momentarily thought it was Sohana.
He shook his head in disbelief. "Oh God, I’m hallucinating now."
Just then, the door to his office burst open, and a familiar voice broke the silence.
"Ruhaaaaannnnn!" came a dramatic call, though clearly imitated in a high-pitched voice.
Ruhaan sighed, knowing exactly who it was. He glanced towards the door, and sure enough, there stood Kabir, his best friend, with a cheeky grin plastered on his face. Dressed in his usual hoodie and jeans, Kabir strolled in like he owned the place.
"You’ll be happy to know I won the bike race today—again!" Kabir declared proudly, patting himself on the shoulder as if he had just achieved something extraordinary.
Ruhaan gave him a half-hearted clap. "Very nice," he said flatly, his mind too preoccupied to care.
Kabir, catching the lack of enthusiasm, raised an eyebrow. "Whoa, what’s with the attitude? Did something crawl up your suit today?"
Ruhaan sighed heavily. "I’m just... I can’t focus on work."
Kabir smirked knowingly, plopping down on the couch opposite Ruhaan’s desk. "Oh? And what—or should I say who—has captured your mind?"
"Shut up!" Ruhaan snapped. "Sohana could never—" But he stopped mid-sentence, regretting the words the moment they left his mouth.
Kabir’s eyebrows shot up, and a sly grin spread across his face. "Oh? Sohana, huh? I didn’t even say her name."
Ruhaan groaned internally. Great, just dig the hole deeper, why don’t you?
Kabir leaned forward, still grinning like a Cheshire cat. "Come on, tell me the truth. You’ve got a thing for her, don’t you?"
Ruhaan scoffed, pretending to focus on the files in front of him. "I have work to do. Why did you even come here?"
Kabir’s grin only widened. "Oh, I came here because of Sohana, actually."
Ruhaan’s head snapped up. "Because of Sohana? What do you mean? What business do you have with her?" His tone was sharper than intended, and Kabir didn’t miss it.
Kabir leaned back, hiding his smirk behind a casual shrug. "I just wanted to share my victory with her. You know, since we’re good friends and all."
Ruhaan’s eyes narrowed. "Since when are you two friends?"
Kabir waved a hand nonchalantly. "Since the day we met. Now, can I get her number? I need to call and share the news with her."
Ruhaan’s brows furrowed in disbelief. "You claim to be her friend but don’t even have her number?"
Kabir rolled his eyes. "C’mon, man, just give it to me."
With a sigh, Ruhaan reluctantly handed over Sohana’s number. "Here, take it. But I still don’t get what sharing your victory has to do with her."
"Well, we’re close. Isn’t that what friends do?" Kabir replied casually as he headed for the door, already dialing the number.
Ruhaan watched him go, his eyes narrowing. "What does he mean by close? And what kind of ‘nice conversation’ is he planning to have with her?"
His inner voice piped up again. "You should go eavesdrop, Ruhaan. What if they’re talking like lovebirds?"
A strange pang hit Ruhaan in the chest. Jealousy? No, it couldn’t be. Could it?
Before he could think it through, his legs moved on their own. He rushed out of his office and down the corridor, where Kabir had already begun his call. Ruhaan quickly ducked behind a wall, hiding from view, his heart racing as he strained to listen.
What the hell am I doing?
