5. Let Me Make A Decision For You
Sorry for slow update! I promise I'll be more consistent with this book! 💜 I have a lot to get through with this book & I really want to get through it.
"What the hell do you want?"
It was still lunchtime, with Natalia wanting to talk to Diamanté about something. She had heard from someone that Diamanté apparently wanted Maitreyi to tutor him.
Maitreyi was the perfect tutor to be honest. There was nothing wrong with her tutoring Diamanté, however Natalia wasn't having it because she didn't still like her, plus she had feelings for Diamanté.
She wasn't planning on making it a long conversation, but she had to do what she had to do. As Diamanté was reluctantly walking and talking with her, Natalia had gotten straight to the point.
"You can't let Maitreyi tutor you."
Diamanté didn't say anything, he had just looked at her dead in the eyes before he had said anything else, and he had stopped walking.
"Why?"
Natalia had to think of a reason why without making it seem as though she was jealous of the girl, even though she was.
It would have been a lot better for the girl had she thought of this before she had talked to him, but she wanted to talk to him before it was too late.
"You're probably just using her for her looks, right?" She clearly wasn't there when he said he wasn't, although she was.
She had been eavesdropping on the whole conversation, waiting for the right time to talk to him.
"I mean, I did hear you say that she was pretty in Maths class. I'm on your table. Why didn't you ask me to tutor you?"
Diamanté had become angrier at that, staring her down.
"Do you really want me to answer that, Natalia?!" He had screamed at her. "You know I don't like you, so don't even go there! Me wanting Maitreyi to be my tutor has absolutely nothing to do with you, so just get lost!"
Natalia knew that he didn't like her, but that didn't stop her from using the dirt she had on Maitreyi against her.
There was actually no dirt on Maitreyi yet, she was just making everything up. She almost had the audacity to ask Diamanté why he didn't like her, but she didn't.
Diamanté had tried to ignore her but she had kept on talking to him. She wasn't normally like this, she had just never been so jealous of someone before.
---
"Girl, I can't believe you got Diamanté to ask you to tutor him!" Candi Rose had said to Maitreyi after school on the same day in her bedroom. "I bet he doesn't want you to do so, he probably used it as an excuse to take you on a date!"
Saniyah, Eucharia and Candi Rose were in Maitreyi's bedroom, sitting down on her bed. Maitreyi didn't know that Natalia had tried to get Diamanté against her earlier on, but she was going to find out from him later.
The four girls were having a study session together, however they were taking a break from studying so as to talk about Diamanté.
Maitreyi had become so close to all three of them that she had invited them over even though they had just met each other today.
Not just that, but they had all lived really close from here anyway.
Candi Rose loved love, and she was so happy for the girl. Not just her, but Saniyah and Eucharia were too, nodding like crazy.
Maitreyi didn't tell them yet that she wasn't so sure about this tutor thing because she didn't know Diamanté's true intentions. Not just that - she didn't want to let her friends down.
Especially right now.
"Sis, you need the perfect outfit," Eucharia had beamed, getting up from the bed. "Luckily us three came to the rescue whilst you were downstairs, talking to your mum about something."
They had come to the rescue by picking out her best clothes and what she could have worn them with tomorrow.
Eucharia had told Saniyah to hit it, as the song BO$$ by Fifth Harmony had played on Maitreyi's radio.
This was basically a fashion show with Maitreyi's clothes. Her room was large enough for an entire catwalk, which was what the girls had done anyway.
Everyday is pay day

I wanna Kanye ye, not a Ray J
"You've got the super trendy look, if you want to look really nice," Eucharia had announced, posing in front of her as the song had continued.
The girls must have all been her size or something because Maitreyi's clothes had fit perfectly.
Then again, it seemed like they had planned this beforehand so they had probably only chosen clothes to wear that had actually fit them.
So that's a no no
I'm a Maybach and you's a Volvo
After Eucharia had gone, it was Saniyah, who had come in front of Maitreyi, wearing mainly purple. Purple was one of Maitreyi's favourite colours, but even during the fashion show, she didn't seem too happy.
"Purple means royal, and you're also loyal so this would be a good fit," Saniyah had announced when she was in front of Maitreyi.
The top was long sleeve, but everything else was more or less the same thing.
She did look really good, Maitreyi had to admit. They all looked good, and next was Candi Rose as the music had still continued.
This convo beat like Dre-e
I already know whatchu tryna say
She was wearing some summer wear. It was winter, although to be fair sometimes it was unbelievably hot, even for January.
It wasn't full summer wear though, but it was a nice dress. Maitreyi sighed: the more they had done this - she didn't know why but the worse she had felt.
"It may be January, but it's not too early for summer! Besides. Tomorrow it's going to be extremely hot anyway, apparently. But take a jacket, just in case!"
They had gone round many times, saying different things. By the end of the fashion show, which was coincidentally during the middle of the song, Maitreyi had more or less said no to everything.
Her friends had looked at her as if she had just admitted she failed a driving test and she didn't tell them beforehand.
They seemed dejected, especially Eucharia as this was her idea anyway, however they weren't annoyed at her. They had no reason to be.
"Treyi. You've said no to everything, and they're your clothes," Eucharia had pointed out at the end of everything, still in her clothes. "Are you okay? Is something on your mind?"
"If there is, do you want to talk about it?" Saniyah had added, with all of them looking at her. "You don't have to of course, but I feel like talking about your feelings would be good."
She had looked at them back, sighing.
Then she nodded - but first they needed to get out of her clothes in case her mum or sister came up and they had started asking questions.
When they had done that, they had sat down on her bed again, wanting to know what was wrong with the girl, if anything.
Maitreyi had been feeling this way for a while now, inhaling and exhaling again before she had told them what she had been thinking.
"Don't get me wrong, you three. I appreciate the fashion show and I'm all for it," she had deadpanned. "It's just that I'm worried Diamanté asked me to be his tutor for the wrong reasons."
They had thanked her for thanking them about the fashion show, with Candi Rose wanting to know why she had thought that.
"I mean. I barely know this guy. Plus, Saniyah, you were there when him and Kyriacos complimented us in Maths class earlier on today, weren't you?" She had asked her, and she nodded. "I'm worried that he's just using me for my looks. No guy has ever called me pretty the first day they met me."
"Does Diamanté know you feel this way?" Eucharia wanted to know, where Maitreyi had nodded.
She had told him how he had felt earlier, and he had reassured her that he didn't ask her to be his tutor for the wrong reasons and he meant it.
This was through text, happening after school.
He genuinely needed someone to tutor her and he knew that she had gotten good grades. She left her previous school with great grades, one of the highest grades there even.
"I mean- you three have been at school for ages. What's Diamanté like? Have you ever talked to him and his brothers before?"
They had talked to him, but they weren't close enough to him to figure out what the guy was really like.
If Maitreyi was so worried, then she could have cancelled it, or if she didn't want to do that, she could have gotten one of them to come with her at least.
"No, I want to see what it's like first; and you guys don't have to do that. Don't worry," she had smiled faintly. "But if I need anything, I'll let you know."
Before Eucharia could ask her if she was sure about that, someone had knocked on the door.
It was Khadijah, wanting to talk to Maitreyi privately about something.
Maitreyi had told her about Diamanté and him wanting her to tutor him tomorrow afternoon, and she was all down for it, as long as they hadn't done anything they weren't supposed to do.
Initially, she would have been against her going to a boys' house, let alone a boy with two brothers. But things had been rough since Dominic had died and she knew it. Plus, Diamanté seemed like a nice guy. She had spoken to him on the phone earlier.
"Is it okay if Avantika and I talk to you in private, Maitreyi?"
She didn't say anything, that was really up to her friends.
They had to go anyway, it was getting late.
So therefore, they had all hugged each other and they had left together, thanking Khadijah for letting them stay, and they had said goodbye to Avantika at the same time.
