REAL LIFE

"one day i'll actually steal you from chris," milani claimed as she took a sip of her coke.

it had been two days since the boys had left for boston, and ella and milani were currently out at a small family owned restaurant. it was one that the two of them often went to, and kyson typically joined them whenever they went. milani decided against inviting him because he hadn't been feeling well all day.

kyson swears that he had gotten food poisoning, but milani knew he was just out drinking last night and ended up blacking out. she wasn't sure why he tried hiding it because she literally saw him passed out in their living room last night, but she looked past it.

"millie, i honestly don't know that you'll be able to," ella confessed.

"what is he gonna do about it?" milani questioned. "i could take him in a fight."

"oh for sure." there was a small pause, until ella suddenly decided to interrogate her friend about her boy problems.

"so are there any updates on matt you've been hiding? you guys seemed to be talking a lot more a couple days ago when we went out for dinner."

milani almost spit out her drink, "no, no, no. there's nothing going on between us right now." she wiped away the few drops of coke on her chin. "i think i've decided that i'm just going to forget things ever happened too. it's not worth it to-"

"hold on. i know you're not just going to forget things ever happened because you think it's not worth it."

"ells, i just feel like he's happy with sarah. i don't wanna ruin a possible friendship with matt by trying to get back with him. i'd rather just take the friendship at this point."

ella reached over the table to grab milani's hand, "girl, he is far from happy with sarah, according to chris and nick. and i've never seen you happier than when you and matt were a thing. i know you still want it. and if you want my honest opinion, i think you should ask him about everything when he gets back."

"i don't know," milani sighed. "how do they know that he's actually not happy though? i feel like he would just break up with her if he wasn't happy."

"because, she's probably brainwashing him."

"ella-"

milani was cut off when her phone started buzzing against the table. she pulled her hand away from ella and picked her phone up, noticing nick was facetiming her.

"it's nick," she whispered as she answered the call. "the fuck do you want?"

"pause," nick said, pausing himself. "let's rewind and try that again."
