"How about this one?" Mike asked while showing Dustin the rock he found.

"Too big for the sling, do you think Eleven was born with her powers like X-man, or do you think she acquires them like green lantern?" Dustin called out as the four searched for more rocks.

"She's not a superhero, she's a weirdo" Lucas rolled his eyes.

"Lucas, shut the hell up! The X-men were weirdos" Mavis glared at her best friend, who stood up straighter to look at her.

"If you love her so much, why don't you marry her?" Lucas teased Mavis while getting on one knee, making Mavis shove him away.

"Leave Mavis alone, you don't know what you're talking about" Mike quickly stood up for her as Lucas gave him a look.

"Mike, seriously?" Lucas asked in disbelief while Mavis crosses her arms.

"What?" Mavis shot back overly annoyed.

"You look at her all like 'Hi El, El, El, El I love you so much would you marry me'" Lucas mocked in an overly drawn out girly voice as Mavis rolled her eyes, looking away slightly hurt.

"Shut up Lucas," Mike said back to him, catching the redness form on Mavis's face.

"Yeah shut up Lucas," Troy said as he approached the four with James by his side.

"What are you losers doing back here?" Troy scoffed as he eyed all four of them.

"Probably looking for their missing friend" James laughed as Mavis glared.

"Shut up, you milk sob" she glared at him as Lucas gripped her forearm.

"That's not funny, it's serious, he's in danger" Dustin glared at the two bullies who shared a snicker.

"Hate to break it to you Toothless, but he's not in danger, he's dead. That's what my Dad says. Said he was probably killed by some other queer" Troy said as Mavis grinded her teeth, causing her nose to twitch in anger.

"C'mon, just ignore them," Mike said while leading them away.

"Probably by his Dyke best friend," James said as Mavis looked his way, just as Troy tripped Mike, making him bust his chin on a rock, while the two walked off. Mavis glared as she stormed after them before Dustin stopped her.

"Mavis don't, it's not worth it," Dustin said as she sighed and looked back to Mike as Lucas helped him off the ground.

"You alright?" Mavis asked him with softer eyes.

"Yeah," he said while touching his bloody chin.

"Hey, how bout this one?" Dustin smiles while picking up the rock Mike hit, causing the boy to grin. The encounter far from his mind as Mavis threw her arm around him.

"Yeah, yeah this is it," Mike said with a smile as he looked down at the rock.

"Yeah, this is the monster killer," Lucas said as he grinned ear to ear making Mavis laugh before they set off toward the power lines.

"El, you okay?" Mavis asked her as she saw the odd look on the girls' face when they approached, she nodded.

"Hop on, we only have a couple of hours then we can go back home," Mavis said while she helped El on the back of her bike with a small grin.

"Home," El said as Mavis nodded while El wrapped her arms around her waist before the five biked off.

"Why do they hurt him?" El asked Mavis as they walked side by side. Mavis gave her a confused look before the bald girl pointed to Mike, who was walking a few feet in front of them.

"Oh, um I don't ... I don't know" Mavis shook her head, not wanting to talk about Troy and James.

"Mav" El said as Mavis looked over and hummed in response.

"Friends tell the truth," El said as Mavis raised her eyebrows and perused her lips with a shrug.

"He was tripped by a mouth breather, Troy," Mavis said as El gave an odd look.

"Mouth breather?" she asked confused as Mavis nodded her head.

"Yeah a dumb person, a son of a bitch, you know, a knucklehead" Mavis shrugged as El blinked in confusion.

"Knucklehead?" she asked her, making Mavis laugh slightly as she grinned over at the girl to her right.

"I'm sorry for not just telling you, everyone already knows. I just didn't want you to think any of us were like un-cool or whatever" Mavis shrugged her head as El shook hers.

"Mav," she said making Mavis look at her.

"I understand," El said sincerely while placing her hand on top of Mavis, who was pushing the bike.

"Oh... okay. Cool" Mavis smiled as El did too.

"Cool," she repeated back. Nightfall came faster than anyone expected it to while El lead them to Wills house.

"Here," she nodded while looking toward the four.

"Yeah, this is where Will lives," Mike said to her with a nod, yet his voice was slightly confused.

"Hiding," El said as Mavis sighed but knew she couldn't get mad.

"No, no El listen. This is where he lives, his home. He's missing from here" she tried to explain but El seemed to hold her ground.

"What are we doing here?" Lucas asked annoyed while dropping his bike.

"She says he's hiding here" Mike shrugged his way.

"Um, no," Lucas said with a crazy look , making Mavis rub her forehead.

"I swear if we walked all the way out here for nothing-" Dustin began but was cut off.

"That exactly what we did! I told you she didn't know what the hell she was talking about!" Lucas shouted making Mavis sigh, not having the energy to argue.

"Why did you bring us here?" Mike asked her, clearly annoyed with Lucas too.

"Mike! Don't waste your time with her" Lucas said with a shake of his head.

"Jesus Christ! Shut up, Lucas!" Mavis yelled to him with a point of her pink-painted nails.

"What do you wanna do then?" Mike asked him with a swing of his arms in the air.

"Call the cops like we should have done yesterday" Lucas argued back with him as suddenly the three were in a loud argument while Dustin tried to get their attention,  but the trio ignored him as they continued to shout at each other.

"Guys!" Dustin yelled loudly causing them to fall silent when police sirens zoomed past them.

"Will," Mike said as they quickly biked after the cars until they stopped near the quarry and hid behind the fire truck, waiting to see what was gonna happen next. Mavis felt a chill go down her arms, as a chocked sob left her throat, watching the officers pull a small body, dressed in Wills clothes, out of the lake.

"It's not Will... it's can't be" Mike said sadly while watching. Mavis bite her sleeve, large tears streaming down her face.

"It's Will, it's really Will," Lucas said with his own tears in his eyes. Mike shook his head as he turned away while El looked his way.

"Mike," she said while reaching out to him, but a loud slap made Mavis's head snap backward realizing, Mike had slapped El's arm.

"Mike? Mike what! You were supposed to help us find him alive! You said he was alive!" Mike shouted at her.

"Mike.," Mavis said through her cries while she walked toward them.

"Why did you lie to us? What's wrong with you? What is wrong with you?" Mike asked her, speaking to her like she was a dog. Mavis tried to argue but when she opened her mouth her tears feel move, making her look to the side and put a hand onto her mouth again.

"Mike" El said sadly as Mike scoffed and grabbed his bike.

"Mike cmon don't do this man," Lucas said as Mike biked off.

"Cmon, let's go home" Mavis sniffled as she nudged El's arm.

"Mav-" El began but was cut off.

"Let's go home, Eleven," Mavis said more sternly as she got on her bike, much as El did.

"Mav" Dustin said but the girl shook her head.

"Get home safe" was all she said as more tears stained her face before biking away.

That night Mavis laid in her bed, not bothering to change her clothes or even take off her shoes. All she could do was stare lifeless and motionless at the wall. El watched her sadly from across the room before she got into the bed and laid down behind her.

"I'm sorry," El said as Mavis started to cry again, putting her face into the pillow while El quickly wrapped her arms around Mavis from behind, resting her head between the shorter girl's shoulder blades while she cried.
