A sudden knock could be heard from the front door of the mansion. Merida slumped on the living room couch, flicking through the channels on the tv. She assumed someone else would get the door, so she didn't move. The knocking continued a few moments afterwards. The redhead groaned loudly, forcing herself to rise from the couch and see whatever was outside. She muttered curse words under her breath with annoyance as she opened the door.

There, on the front porch, stood a tall, young man with shaggy curly brown hair, dark eyes and a large assortment of freckles decorating his face. Merida rubbed her eyes with disbelief, the boy smiling widely at her. She gasped, jumping into his arms rapidly. "Cam!" She nearly screamed. He laughed as she practically dragged him to the ground with excitement. "Oh my god, I can't believe you're here!"

Merida's loud voice attracted the boys, who thought she might be in trouble due to the ruckus. They pounded down the stairs in a hurry, yelling to her to see if she was okay. When they saw the redhead on the ground hugging a stranger, however, they stopped and simply stared with confusion.

"It's great to see you too, Meri!" The freckled boy chuckled, his arms wrapped tightly around his old friend.

The rest of the girls soon came out from the kitchen to see what was going on. They all smiled at the brunette and hugged him with happiness too. Jack, still confused, stepped forward. He gave Merida an indication that the boys had yet to be introduced to the new person, and she nodded. "Boys, this is an old friend of mine," she smiled, her arm slung around his shoulder. "Cameron Boyce."

Kristoff instantly clapped his hands together. "I knew I've seen you somewhere! You're an actor, right?"

Cameron nodded. "That's actually why I'm in town. We're wrapping up the final season of 'Jessie' and we're shooting around this area for the day, so I thought I'd come surprise my favourite redhead." He laughed, ruffling Mer's hair even more.

"How do you guys know each other, anyway?" Hiccup asked, a little defensive of how close the two seemed. It was almost like he was jealous.

"We went to school together!" Merida replied. "We've known each other since pre-school and spent from then up until the end of high school together,"

"But we didn't get to see each other as much after she landed her record deal with the girls and I started acting," Cameron continued for her. "We've always been best friends, though!"

Everyone giggled and chuckled in unison. "And we always will be." Mer said, hugging her friend tightly, feeling that if she let go, she'd never be able to hold him again.

Merida awoke with shock and uneven breathing. Tears were streaming down her face as she frantically looked around, realising she was in her dark bedroom, sweating slightly and shaking rapidly. Her window was open ajar, letting some cold air escape from the outside into her room. The redhead tried to calm her breathing, still looking around as if she'd seen a monster lurking in the shadows. Her arms shivered, and she cupped them with her hands. Merida could still feel his touch. Her dream had felt so real. It was as if he had actually been there, knocking on her front door in between filming.

She looked down, noticing that the large pyjama shirt she wore actually belonged to him. It was his favourite hockey jersey. Cam had given it to her when they were in high school one night when she was staying at his house and forgot to bring anything to sleep in. She had always meant to give it back to him, but for some reason she didn't.

But now, Merida was so glad she didn't.

She slowly wiped her many tears away, getting up from bed and making her way downstairs. She opened the back door, and stepped outside to the back garden patio. It was cold outside, but she didn't really give much care to be honest. Her feet were bare, including most of her legs. All Merida wore was his hockey jersey, which was very oversized on her and reached down to her lower thigh. The redhead held her knees close to her chest, staring up to the night sky.

"We always seem to end up in these type of situations." A voice remarked sarcastically from behind her. Merida turned to see Hiccup, standing in the glass doorway holding a huge blanket. He wore a black tank top and a pair of grey pyjama-shorts.

The girl rolled her eyes playfully, turning back to the sky. "And what do you mean by that, Haddock?"

Hiccup sat next to her on the edge of the patio. "One of us is outside, looking up to the sky with sadness. Then the other comes out, leaves some snarky remarks and inspirational quotes, and then finally," he grinned, making Merida laugh as he explained their situations. "We stare into each other's eyes for awhile before being interrupted by something stupid."

Merida pushed what he said about the 'staring into each other's eyes', and giggled at the rest of his silly explanation. "Well, if that's the kind of situation you're looking for at the moment, Haddock, I'm gonna have to decline..." she tried to joke, although a frown was written on her face. "I'm just not in the mood."

The brunette noticed the girl shivering, and wrapped the blanket around her shoulders, some of it still covering him due to how big it was. "What's wrong?" He asked, seeing the tear stains on her face.

She took a deep breath. "Today's the one year anniversary of my friends death." She let out. "His name was Cameron. Cameron Boyce."

Hic frowned as well, sighing with sadness. He remembered hearing about the actors passing last year and being left upset after it, even though he never knew him personally. "I'm really sorry about that, Mer." He sympathised.

She shook her head, glancing to the ground. "Don't be, it wasn't your fault." She then looked back up to the sky, seeing all the stars shine brightly. "He's up there with the other stars," she smiled with teary eyes. "And he's shining down on everyone, just like a star is supposed to do. He was, and always will be, the biggest star in the whole galaxy." Merida finished, before letting out a sob.

Hiccup pulled her close to his chest, wrapping his strong arms around her. She hugged him and cried, for what felt like hours, before the two managed to drop off to sleep, on the patio, in the shivering coldness of the night, cuddling up to each other, as the stars shone down on them.

As Cameron, shone down on them.

the date was 6th of July, 2019 when this amazing actor, beautiful human being and an angel in disguise passed away. me and evie were both shocked with this information and texted each other during the worst times. we both grew up watching Cameron, we both had the best times watching his cute face on TV. and so when the news that he's gone got to us, we both could barely believe that this gorgeous soul is not here with us anymore. and that's why we both decided to write this chapter (evie did and it's amazing), all dedicated to him. it's still hard to believe it, isn't it?

rest in peace our lovely fallen angel
