βββββ THE SAME GROUP OF GUARDS who seem to have stood their ground on the other side of the doors entered the room once again. Sierra and the others backed away, waiting for them to attack but they didn't instead they moved aside for the teenagers to walk out. It was like nothing even happened.
Sierra rushed outside, she looked in every direction possibly until her eyes landed on the one person she was looking for. Her brother. She ran into his arms which were already wide open for the small brunette. Stiles asked what they were going to do now, even though they didn't even have Derek in their custody.
Scott informed the rest of his pack that the Calaveras kindly gifted them with a guide who had the answers they were looking for. A sudden roar at the mention of the guide etched closer toward the group.
Braeden, the mercenary. Sierra has heard stories of the girl, she was badass. "Right now, I'm the only one who's going to take you to La Iglesia," she stared at Scott.
"The Church?" Lydia questioned.
Stiles became curious at the mention of the church. Braeden mentioned that it wasn't the place most people will find God, which made Sierra snicker at the serious tone. She was horrible at serious situations because she always found herself coughing up a laugh. Stiles motioned for everyone to get into the car so that they could follow Braeden to their destination.
In the car ride, the air seemed to hold a lot of tension. Due to the fact that Stiles' car couldn't fit all of them, it made for an uncomfortable ride for Sierra as she had to sit on someone's lap. It was very silent, as Stiles drove behind Braeden.
"Okay, I'll ask. Who's Kate Argent?" Malia asked, taking everyone out of their trance as they thought about all the different things regarding the supernatural world. Somehow they always found themselves in crazier situations than before.
It seemed that Kira was also curious about who Kate Argent was. It gave Sierra a headache to even think about her again. Stiles cleared his throat, "Well, we were at her funeral. So, I'd like to know how she got out of a casket that was buried six feet underground."
"She was never in it," Scott muttered.
Lydia and Sierra chimed in with some not-so-nice words as they described the woman. The pack went on a tangent about the history of Kate Argent's life before her 'death' which only made Sierra more curious about whether or not luck was just not on her side today.
"So, Kate's a werewolf now?" Kira's soft voice spoke.
"I don't know. You know, there's a saying, sometimes the shape you take reflects the person you are," Scott mentioned. He always knew what to say, even in situations where he was most definitely freaking out on the inside.
"What kind of shape is a sociopathic bitch?" Sierra scoffed, which earned her a look from the boys in front due to the mention of fowl words. Stiles' car began to crumble when suddenly they came to a complete stop.
Braeden circled back to see what was holding the car back. The clock was ticking and they were losing precious time. Stiles mentioned that the car may have hit something on the way. The darker-skinned girl informed Scott and the rest of the group of the time crunch they were in and how they needed to make it before nightfall or it would become dangerous. Scott contemplated in his head as he looked between Stiles and Sierra, and Braeden.
"Go," Sierra told her brother.
"Not without you," Scott said as he walked toward her. His hands landed on her shoulders as he looked between his best friend and his sister.
Stiles scoffed telling his friend that he needs to be the one to find Derek. The rest of the group knew how to take care of themselves because they always eventually figure things out even if they take the long route to come to certain conclusions.
Scott stared back at his younger sister. His face settled on a worried structure but Stiles was quick to comfort him, "Don't worry. You know, I promised you I'd protect her," Stiles smiled, putting his arm around the girl.
Sierra scoffed, "You protect me? I have a better knowledge of weapons, and you use a freaking bat!"
The comment made the boys chuckle. "You sure about this, Sierra?" Scott furrowed his brows toward the girl.
Sierra nodded, reassuring the boy that it was more than okay to leave them in the middle of the desert. The boy hovered over her as his arms wrapped around the small frame of his sister. Stiles grabbed onto the girl and moved her away as Kira stepped forward to have a conversation with the McCall boy.
The motorcycle roared once again as it made its way further from the rest of the group. Malia called out to the boy with the car, she had picked up a foreign object from the tire which she managed to scour for.
Sierra found herself falling in and out of sleep from the passenger seat as she watched Stiles duct tape his way into getting the car back and running. "Maybe we should just walk," Lydia suggested.
"Hey, I will never abandon this Jeep! You understand me? Ever," Stiles exclaimed.
Malia told the boy to work faster but instead, everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at her curiously. She mentioned that there was something out in the desert. Sierra began tapping her foot due to the nervousness filling her body.
It was beginning to get dark and somehow Stiles still hadn't managed to fix his prized possession. "Sierra, could you please hold the light still for a second? It's really hard to see anything if you keep shaking it like that."
"Stiles, I'm freaking cold right now and you telling me what to do isn't helping. We're in the middle of nowhere, with this stupid piece of crap you refuse to get rid of, and we're being attacked by yet another razor-clawed monster. And frankly, I'm terrified," Sierra exclaimed.
"Well, just be slightly less terrified," Stiles rolled his eyes playfully.
The brunette glared back at him as she lazily held onto the flashlight she was given. Stiles took out an object and told Sierra to hold onto it, she wondered out loud what it was for and quietly hoped it wasn't anything important. It seemed that Stiles was hoping for the same thing as he wished for it out loud.
"This is reason number fifteen why I won't take this piece of crap when you graduate," Sierra groaned.
"Wait, what?" Stiles exclaimed. He was about to go on a whole rampage on why Sierra needed to take the car, and why she needed to uphold the traditions but was cut off short when Sierra told him to shut up and continued doing his only job.
Everything went by in a flash as Malia ran off somewhere which only made Stiles work faster even if it wasn't sufficient. Sierra turned on the engine like she was told, she watched as it muttered a noise then made a noise they all hoped for as the car finally began running again.
"You... you, please don't ever do that ever again!" Stiles exclaimed as he drove towards the church, finally getting Malia back into the car with them.
The couple bickered a bit. Malia stated how she wouldn't have left him behind but the others she would leave. Sierra looked at Stiles in the front view mirror with a raised eyebrow, "Yeah, it's progress," Sierra kissed her teeth.
Malia described the animal she almost came into contact with, emphasizing the smell of death. Just as they drove to their destination, Sierra noticed a figure in Scott and Braeden's arms. Everyone raced out of the car, meeting up with the two walking out. They looked like they had quite the battle, as Sierra observed the dust on them.
A smoke of fog cleared as Sierra was able to get a closer look at the figure. The headlight from the car was the only source of light to see what was ahead. "Is that him? Is that Derek?" Malia asked.
"Uh... Sort of..." Stiles commented as the boy lifted his head. Sierra widened her eyes at the sight of young Derek Hale. She straightened herself out and fixed her hair, making herself appear a little better looking which didn't go unnoticed by the others.
"Ew, stop it!" Stiles exclaimed, waving his hand around to shield the girl from the boy. She sent him a death glare for ruining the moment.
Back in Beacon Hills, Stiles drove the group to the animal clinic, hoping Deaton could give them some answers to their supernatural questions. When Deaton watched as the teenagers filed into the building, his eyes observed the mysterious figure, he was almost just as speechless as they were when they first discovered the young Hale.
Stiles frantically wondered what Deaton meant when he sighed out loud. The veterinarian chuckled telling the boy that he may have overestimated his abilities. Sierra took a hold of the boy, noticing that his exterior was cold, which made everyone else see for themselves.
"Do you think this is permanent?" Scott asked.
"I sure hope so," Sierra muttered. Scott turned his head at her, telling her to shut up with his eyes. The girl raised her hands in a surrendering stance, backing away from the boy.
"You have to admit, he's cute and way less annoying than the older Derek," Sierra quickly mentioned before shutting up again.
Deaton did a physical on the boy but he couldn't come to any conclusions as he had never experienced this before, which didn't help because nobody was familiar with this process it seemed. The group asked what to do in the meantime while they waited for the boy to awaken from his coma. Deaton reassured them that him being in the animal clinic was probably their safest option.
"You mean from Kate?"
"If she's alive and she is what you say she is, she won't be able to walk past the gate," Deaton explained. Sierra felt a weight lift off her shoulder as the others continued questioning Kate's intentions with the young version of Derek Hale.
Deaton looked at the tired figures in front of him and suggested they all head home to get some rest, especially since it was a school night. Scott wouldn't dare leave Deaton allowed as he mentioned how someone should stay with him, Lydia volunteered herself. The others looked at her as she explained why she knew she could live with missing a few classes but Stiles, of course, has his opinions and discouraged the idea.
Scott and Sierra looked at each other as each McCall sibling wrapped their arm onto Stiles' arm and dragged him toward the exit to hopefully stop him from further rambling himself to death in front of Lydia Martin.
The blue jeep stopped in front of the McCall household before driving off when the siblings reached their front door. Sierra entered the house behind her brother. She noticed her father on the couch sound asleep. Her eyes wandered around the room which was clustered with her father's tools. What she didn't notice was Scott mindlessly walking toward their father when he suddenly knocked into the toolbox under his feet.
Her father sprouted up from the loud noise. His hand rubbed against his eyes as he tried to regain his consciousness and vision. He called out for his children. "God, you are so stupid!" Sierra scolded her older brother as he remained still.
"Hey dad. What's with the tools?" Scott asked, leaning down picking up the tools and placing them back into the box.
Their father mentioned how he was going down the list of repairs the children's mother had on the list that she put on the fridge to remind her to eventually get someone to fix them. The problem was that Melissa McCall was always so busy at the hospital, so whenever Rafael McCall was in town, he would be the one to cut the list down by a couple of jobs until the next time he was in town.
The complicated relationship between the McCall siblings and their father lingered in the room as they just stared blankly at one another. "What time is it?" Rafael called out.
"It's um... midnight," Sierra looked at the clock on the side table closest to her left, she watched the time display 4:00AM. Her hand subtly hovered over the clock and turned it away before her father could get a good look at it.
Rafael sighed, staring at his children standing in front of him as he explained the dinner plans they had made before Scott and his friends decided to run off to Mexico for a small getaway. "Sorry, we totally forgot about it. When we got back from the camping trip, I had to go straight to the animal clinic to finish up work so I ended up having to take Sierra with me," Scott explained to his father which he seemed to be buying. He told Sierra and Scott that tomorrow night they would have dinner, no exception.
The McCall siblings nodded toward the figure. "Did you get anything to eat?" Rafael asked.
Sierra and Scott shared a look as they walked away from their father, "Yeah, Mexican."
Morning arrived and the birds were chirping loudly awakening the young McCall from her slumber. She groaned as she watched the the second hand of her alarm clock tick quietly and quickly. Second semester couldn't have arrived sooner, Sierra actually enjoyed school cause it felt like the only time she could escape her life from running away from the supernatural world for a while.
Sierra McCall took a lot from Lydia when it came to school. She aspired to be like her one day and she believed that she was slowly making her way to that point. Her grades were almost perfect. She was taking multiple AP courses. According to her guidance counsellor, she was in the top percentage of her grade, which she was extremely proud of. However, the downside of it all was that common sense didn't come as easy as academics to the girl.
Stiles drove the McCall siblings with him to school. Awaiting near the parking spot, Sierra spotted her best friend from afar, who was waving her down to hurry up. The brunette opened her door mid drive and ran off before the older boys could say anything. Sierra was going to hear about blabber on later, she could already imagine what the best friends would say to her when she sat in Scott's room dumbfounded.
Gabriella ran toward the brunette excitedly, bombarding her with a million questions about her trip to Mexico. Gabriella Ricci knew about the supernatural world before the rest of Beacon Hills knew about the supernatural world, she had always been fascinated with the fantasy until it suddenly became a reality and she realized it wasn't as fun. Sierra and Gabriella were often attached to the hip, like Stiles and Scott, something many people mentioned when they looked at the relationship between the two girls.
A laugh escaped Sierra's lip, "Your Nana deprive you of reality tv or something?"
"You know Nana hates that type of shit. She literally blames my GPA on this stuff. When I tell you I'm going insane living with this woman, I mean it," Gabriella exclaimed.
"Well to answer your millions of questions. We found Derek in Mexico but there's a catch," Sierra explained which made her best friend curious. The two girls slowly made their way to class as Sierra continued to explain, "Somehow Derek aged backwards when we founded him so we're not really sure what to do with him."
"Okay, but is he, like cute?" Gabriella questioned her friend as she walked into class and took a seat near the front. Sierra received a text about telling Scott to call Lydia, which Gabriella also seemingly received. The girls looked at each other confusingly but before they could do anything about the information the teacher had begun their lecture.
As soon as the bell rang, a voice called echoed in the room, "Hey, I'm gonna need Sierra McCall and Gabriella Ricci to come with me?" Stiles popped in his head, his breathing was heavy which often happened when the boy ran. Sierra shook her head embarrassed at the boy when the teacher told the junior that class was over.
Sierra flung her backpack over her shoulder, hovering her head down as she walked of her class with Gabriella following behind her. "You know sometimes you boys are really an embarrassment to me," Sierra called out as she picked up her pace trying to flee them as they rambled on unraveling news about Derek Hale.
The girls stopped in their heels as soon as they heard the boys mention that Derek had attached Deaton and Lydia. "So, he isn't at the clinic?" Sierra questioned.
The three teenagers turned and looked at the brunette dumbfounded, Gabriella smacked the back of Sierra's head softly, her tone exuding sarcasm as she scoffed, "I have no idea how you're one of the top students in our grade and you can't even connect the dots in real life scenarios half of the time."
"Shut up, Gabi," Sierra scoffed, flipping her off.
The boys informed Sierra that they were going to ditch the rest of the day and head to the animal clinic but she couldn't come with, making the girl wonder what the point of them even telling her was for. Sierra and Gabriella entered their biology class, walking away from the rambling boys who didn't know when to stop talking.
Neither of the boys seemed to realized that they had followed the girls into their lesson until the teacher called out on them asking who they were and what they were doing in her classroom. Stiles nervously chuckled, his hand scratching the back of his neck as he shared a look between his best friend and the younger girls, slowly making their way toward the opened door.
Throughout the day, Stiles and Scott bombarded Sierra with texts to the point where she had to shut off her phone to stop the buzzing from making her go insane. At the end of the day, Sierra and Gabriella were awaiting for the blue car to pick them up like Stiles had promised them.
"Took you long enough," Gabriella murmured.
Stiles snapped his neck to the back at the girls in the back, "Gabi, I would appreciate some appreciation as your chauffeur for the day, and this is not it."
The Sheriffs Department β a place Sierra McCall had become too familiar with which in her mind was not something to be proud of. As the group ran inside, Sheriff Stilinski immediately monitored them into his office. "I want you to be honest with me. Absolutely and completely honest. Have you been time traveling?" Noah Stilinski asked.
Sierra looked around at the others, she wasn't sure if the question was rhetorical or not, so she sat on the couch quietly. The boys looked at the older Stilinski in disbelief. "Because if time traveling is real, you know what? I'm done. I'm out. You're going to be driving me to Eichen House," the Sheriff mentioned.
"We found him like this," Scott interfered as the man tried to wrap his head around on the supernatural world that he was slowly becoming accustomed to.
"Where? Swimming in the fountain of youth?"
Stiles explained to his father, "No. We found him buried in a tomb of wolfsbane in the Aztec temple in Mexico underneath a church in the middle of a town that was destroyed by an earthquake."
Noah Stilinski was flabbergasted at his son, "You told me you were camping!"
"Yeah, in Mexico, duh!" Sierra added like it was obvious. Stilinski furrowed his brows toward the innocent girl with a tight lip when Gabriella nudged the girl to shut up. The teenagers listened carefully as Sheriff Stilinski explained how since Derek Hale had been caught trespassing his old home, he hasn't said a word to anyone. But Scott was determined he was the one who would make him talk.
Sheriff Stilinski brought the young Hale inside his office, placing him on the couch as the group came face-to-face with him. Scott McCall explained to him who he was and what he needed from Derek, which only made the boy confusingly look at the group as if they were talking gibberish.
Derek looked around the room as he connected the information the alpha was feeding him but he couldn't help but question the intentions of the rest of them. His eyes wandered to the girls sitting in the corner of the room, specifically at Sierra. It was like some thing drew him to her, like that same feeling he had with Paige β his first love.
"Them..." he pointed at the girls, "I would go with."
Stiles scoffed at the boyish charm Derek had on the girls. Even as a younger version of himself, he was still able to get girls to feel butterflies. Scott couldn't help but roll his eyes at the flattery his sister and her best friend were receiving, especially as someone who was technically supposed to be in their thirties.
"Oh, we're the guys keeping you out of jail," Stiles stated. The three boys talked amongst each other for the most part when suddenly Derek mentioned his family and questioned what had happened to his house. Scott contemplated on two options, he could either tell the truth or lie his ass off. He chose the latter.
After the interrogation, Scott and his friends were escorted out of the office and near the front desk as they went over their conversation with Hale. Scott scolded himself for lying to the boy, he felt bad. He wanted more than anything then to tell him the truth but he needed Derek to be focused.
"Take him to my house and don't let him out of your sight," Scott declared, looking at Stiles and Sierra.
"And where are you going?" Stiles asked his best friend. The tanned boy explained his plan, which made Sierra a little worried when he mentioned someone in particular that she wasn't quite fond of.
