"HAVE YOU TALKED TO JACOB?" Bella asks urgently, making Adonis's eyes widen, and a chuckle escapes his lips.

"No, sorry." He was lying straight to her face. He's been helping Sam with Jacob and controlling himself almost every day.

It was just Jacob forcing himself to stay away from Bella since he was still trying to get the hang of being a werewolf. He vows never to speak of hanging out with Bella ever again. He's stated it ever since he phased. It was idiotic, but he was afraid of hurting her like Sam did to Emily, so Adonis understood. But he quickly broke that vow after they saved Bella from Laurent, almost killing her in the process.

Now, Bella was tip-toeing around Adonis, knowing he had something to do with why Jacob was suddenly different. Which makes her almost secretly resent him, knowing Jacob hates how bound he is with this new "thing." This new thing Bella knows Adonis is a part of.

"Yeah..." She mutters annoyed, plopping on the couch as he eyed the teen.

"You sure it's okay for you to watch Athena? You just seem out of it—"

"Oh yeah, sorry, no, I'm okay, I can watch her." She quickly states, shaking her head with a nervous laugh.

Adonis wanted to back out and say nevermind and just bring Athena to work with him... But it's just not safe for her to be around all the dangerous tools and oil, and he can't watch her since it was gonna be busy at the shop today.

"Okay, well... Here's her bag, toys, wipes — all that fun stuff."

"Okay, cool," Bella mutters awkwardly while he sets Athena on the couch. He looks between Bella and Athena before awkwardly letting out a cough. Bella was always really awkward around Adonis — or he just felt awkward around her and talking to her.

Don't get him wrong. She's a sweet girl, and he's forever thankful that she can watch Athena — but he's not good at small talk... especially with someone as awkward as their dad. Charlie was awkward, but Adonis overcame it since he'd known the guy ever since he was a kid, but with Bella, he only really just met her and didn't talk to her often on one.

"How's school?"

"Oh, it's good, my friend, Jess, might get Valedictorian."

"Jessica Stanley?" Adonis asks, making the girl look at him surprised but she nods with a laugh. "You know her?"

"Sadly, yes. I fixed on her dad's car all the time, and she'd always be there while I repaired it—"

"Oh my gosh! I can't believe I didn't recognize your name. She describes you as her first love!" He lets out a laugh, shaking his head, remembering the massive crush she had on him years back.

"I promise you, nothing happened, I always saw her as an annoying little sister even though it was obvious she had a little crush on me."

"Yeah, and you were dating someone else, right?" Now his mood was ruined. He already talked about her not that long ago, and that's drained the last bit of it, so he doesn't want to discuss or even think about Chloe anymore.

"Oh, um, kind of — okay, I got to go."

"Oh, okay." She mutters as Adonis kisses the top of Athena's head, giving her and Bella a smile and waving goodbye.

"Don't kill my kid, Isabella!"

"I promise, I won't!" She shouts back as Athena yells goodbye to her dad, "Bye, Daddy!"

"Bye, I love you!"

"Love youuuuu!"

Adonis got a call from Emily, saying that Bella and Athena were at her house — and Jacob and Paul got into a fight pretty close to them. Supposedly, when Bella came rushing to Jacob's house, demanding to speak with him about her werewolf discoveries, she was holding Athena on her hip.

But when she caught sight of Sam, Paul, Embry, and Jared walking in his backyard from the forest, shirtless, she darted in their direction and sat Athena on the ground just as Bella approached them face to face. That's when she started yelling at them and slapped Paul — who has almost had just as bad of anger issues as Adonis and can't control his phasing just yet.

When Paul phases out of anger, Sam yells at Bella to move and to grab Athena. She moves, at first almost forgetting the teary-eyed baby girl standing beside her. But once he phases, Bella picks up Athena and sprints. Alarming Jacob, she shouts for him to run but falls to the ground, shielding Athena as Jacob jumps over them, phasing into his wolf form.

After everything cleared up and Bella and Athena were brought to Emily's house by Embry and Jared — Athena wouldn't stop crying. She just saw two people close to her turn into something so big that it could give her nightmares for the next month. Not even Adonis has phased in front of her or even been in wolf form around her yet, not thinking she's quite ready for something like that.

She's never seen two massive animals she used to think of as puppies, battle to death. It made them all feel bad as tears streamed down her face the whole time, just wanting her dad's comfort.

That's why Emily called and explained everything...

Adonis was livid. As soon as he got the urgent call from Emily, he immediately left work — not even bothering to change. He was still sweaty with oil a little on his hands with his mechanic's jumpsuit half undone and sleeves tied around his waist to reveal a white tank clinging to his upper half. His hair was disheveled, and his eyes flamed, with the flame and hue of his kitsune abilities surrounding him in anger.

He was pissed off at Sam, Paul, Jacob, and especially, Bella. He only gave her the car seat for Athena just in case of emergencies. But needing to run to Jacob about werewolves was not important!

Everyone knew how pissed off Adonis was as soon as they sensed his presence when his car came up. Emily looked at Sam as he closed his eyes, preparing himself for Adonis's rage. Don't get him wrong, Sam felt extremely guilty for the occurrences that happened, but he was not excited to get yelled at by someone that he couldn't give orders.

Emily held Athena close to her chest, finally getting her to calm down as she was just sniffling and tiny tears now. Bella was still in shock but did feel horrible, but she didn't realize Adonis would be part of this wolf's secret and this mad.

Once Adonis pulled in, he unbuckled and opened his door right as he parked. Seeing Jacob and Paul trying to get in the house as fast as they could, Adonis slammed his car door, immediately making the boys flinch and slow down, knowing they'd been caught.

"Hey, fuckboats!" They slowly turn around nervously, throwing the young male a grin.

"Hey, Ada—"

"Shut it — What the fuck made you think it was smart to phase in front of Athena?"

"Bella got me mad and I couldn't control it!" Paul exclaims, afraid of the way the look of fire was in Adonis's eyes. Jacob beside him scoffs, rolling his eyes as Adonis roughly grabs the collar of his grey shirt.

"Something funny, Jake?" He looks at the hybrid wolf with wide eyes and lifts his hands in surrender. "I was just trying to protect Bella and Athena from Paul—"

"I wasn't gonna hurt them, I just had to phase—"

"Didn't look like it—" Jacob argued, making Paul shove his shoulder. Adonis looked between the two with furrowed eyebrows, rolling his eyes before shoving past the two as they followed close behind.

"Sam!"

"In here!" Sam called back from inside the house and Adonis entered, immediately relaxing to see Athena okay, laying on Emily's chest.

"You better have some good excuses because I swear, I will phase and rip your head off—"

"You're a werewolf too, Adonis?" The supposed babysitter asks with wide eyes, cutting off the severely angry father. He looks at her with wide eyes as they all cringe for Bella.

Adonis takes a step in Bella's direction, glaring into her curious brown eyes. "You're so lucky I can't tell your dad all about this shit!"

"It was urgent—"

"What was so urgent that it couldn't wait till tomorrow?! Or after I picked her up?!" She looked to the ground as he raised his voice while Emily covered Athena's ears and softly petted her head.

"I'm sorry—"

"I don't want a fucking sorry, just know that you're never babysitting my daughter again." He snapped, shutting her up as he turned back to Sam.

"Do you realize you've probably ruined dogs for her now? I was gonna get her a pet husky! I don't know if I can now!"

"You can still get a husky—"

"Not now, Embry," Sam commanded before turning back to Adonis. Sam and Adonis were around the same height, but Adonis was only two inches taller... Being 6'8.

"I don't even want to talk about this right now, or else I'm gonna tear this house apart," Adonis mutters, washing his hands and throwing a small blanket on his chest so Athena doesn't lay on his sweaty chest. He takes Athena from Emily's arms, and Athena hugs him around his neck tight. She never wanted to let go as he tried looking over her a thousand times for any injuries.

Once Jacob nodded for Bella to go out and take a walk, Adonis kept a glare in their direction until he finally relaxed and stole a muffin once they left. He plopped on the couch with a sigh, closing his eyes as Athena fell asleep tightly in his arms.

"Still gonna pay Bella for babysitting?" Jared couldn't help but ask with a laugh, making Adonis not even open his eyes and threaten him.

"Don't test me, Cameron. I'm not afraid to kill you."

"I could beat you," Jared simply says with a smug grin, only receiving laughter from everyone else. He scoffs, rolling his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest as Adonis smirks.

"I'd love to see you try, Jar-bear." A groan left Jared's lips before thousands of teasing came from his pack brothers and pack sister-in-law. But Adonis just smirks, falling asleep on Emily's brown leather couch with Athena lying softly on his chest. Both were now asleep, mouths hung open with small snores coming out of them.

Adonis was exhausted from the day. He was already nervous dropping Athena off at Bella's — and he should have listened to his gut and just brought her to work or even asked Sue, Leah, or Emily to watch her, not Bella. And then there was a long day at work and then getting that call... Let's just say he passed to sleep quickly once plopping himself on the couch.

He was so close to phasing but controlled himself at the sight of Athena. She had long tear stains on her cheeks with slightly red eyes, clinging her hands onto Emily's shirt. She had a hard time today, too, and he's now happy he's with her and safe. It's gonna be a little while till he starts asking people to babysit again — not Bella — but others he trusts a thousand times more.
