THE MARINES WERE STILL HOT ON THEIR TRAIL AS THE GOING-MERRY SAILS AWAY FROM ALABASTA, AND THE SHOTS FIRED AT THEM DIDN'T STOP EITHER. The ship was rocking from side to side, most likely from the constant hits it was receiving, and it did cause the Merry to slow down in speed also, which sent the pirates on board into another stressed state over their escape.
"Water's flooding from the holes! We can't make it all the way out like this." Nami exclaimed from her spot on the deck, her hands holding onto the wood of the ship to steady herself. She knew Usopp and Chopper were trying their best, but it wasn't going to hold much longer.
(Y/N) was in time out from her last stunt, blocked both ways by Zoro and Sanji on either side of her. She pouts annoyed, holding a snickering Happy in her arms against her chest, as she watched her crew fumble for a solution.
"Three ships!" Zoro called out, his free hand not clasped around her forearm reaching for his swords, and unclipped the holder off of them, preparing to jump across and defeat them.
Sanji lit a cigrrate causally, and placed it in between his teeth that had her gawking at him from the side, "We have no choice but to fight, huh?" He mumbled, voice muffled by the object in his mouth as he moved forward also.
"Alright! Let's go--!" Luffy popped up behind his sister with a determined look on his face, giving her shoulder a small squeeze as he walked forward around her, and went to join the other two males.
Before they could move any further, something had tripped them and made the three loosing their footing. (Y/N) stifled the laugh wanting to escape seeing them all face plant onto the deck, and yell at Nami wondering why there were poles just randomly placed in the way.
"Oh, that?" Nami glanced over her shoulder, and shakes her head amused hearing Happy's loud snickering over what just happened, "Usopp said to keep them since we might be able to use them for something."
Zoro leant up from the deck, a massive red spot on his forehead from the fall, "--They're in our way!"
"We don't need them!" Sanji joined in on the yelling, before it turned into a whine when (Y/N) came up to him, brushing his blonde locks back and pressed her cooled hand onto his forehead where the mark was. She hoped to calm the redness with her abilities, and felt the male lean into her touch, making her giggle softly.
She moved onto Zoro next, still keeping Happy in her grasp who moved to sit on her shoulders now, and did the same to the swordsman. He grumbled at her touch, but his eyes were soft watching her apply her icepack like hand onto his skin.
Luffy appeared in between the four of them, looking unbothered as he usually was, and had a red mark similar to his friends, "Then should we ditch them?"
This caused her head to snap away from Zoro's face, and gaped at her brother who started to chuck all the beam sticks in the air, all the way to where the Marine ships were chasing them. He had destroyed them easily, and she laughed loudly at the look on her boys faces.
While they stared dumbfounded at the chaos, Luffy wiped his hands like he had dust on them, and span back around with a wide grin, "Okay! Are we ready?!"
However, no one needed to go anywhere as the ships were already defeated from his last unplanned attack. Luffy was confused seeing the state of them, but Zoro acted faster and spoke quickly, "Now is the chance. Let's go full speed and shake them off!"
The crew all came together to start rowing the Merry faster away from the enemy, using the oars on the side of the boat to do so. Zoro and Luffy were on one together, while Sanji and Chopper were on another one, as Nami blew a whistle to help guide them. Inside, Usopp was trying his best to patch the holes up.
(Y/N) worked on removing the water from inside the ship, and was careful to not touch it was she knew her body was recovering and coming in contact would make it worse for her. She bended the water out carefully, her arms making gracefully as she moves it back into the ocean outside, Happy sat on her shoulders still.
After a while they slowly came to a stop, upon realising the Navy had stopped chasing them, and it gave the crew a break to breathe. However, that was the case for two of them, but the rest of the crew was moping around and whining.
She was sat on the ship's ledge, Zoro in between her legs to keep her from falling overboard as she rested her head on his shoulder, and felt his warm hands trailing over her sides in comfort softly.
Both of them turned when they heard the crew making noises, and saw they were all lined up with sad expressions on their faces. He sweatdropped watching them and shared a look with his captain who smiled knowingly at her crew.
"You know.... what's with those indifferent replies...?" Zoro trailed off in confusion, his hands braced on either side of her waist to help her down from the ledge and they both walked over to where the crew was on the upper level.
All of the stared at the empty spot beside Happy, where Vivi normally would be and in sync the crew all cried out with dramatic tears, "I miss her!"
"Don't be whiny!" Zoro irked at them, and gave a playful pinch to (Y/N)'s waist hearing her snickering causing her to yelp next, "If you wanted her to stay with us that badly, you should've taken her by force!"
This created a round of insults from the crew, gaining a face palm from the Monkey. D girl, who looked between in forth between them and Zoro.
"Lousy man who can't confess!" Happy was the first, which did make Zoro grow pale in the face knowing what he meant, and was lucky his captain didn't pick up on it.
"Ahh! You're a savage!" Chopper was next beside his animal best friend.
"You're the worst!" And then Nami.
Sanji had his normal glare on his face looking at Zoro, "Moss head."
"Three-Sword Style..." Came Luffy's so called insult, which made Usopp try to correct him and say that wasn't an insult, which made the rubber male speak again, but it wasn't any better, "Four-Sword Style."
Usopp sighed knowingly at his captain, and began to go off on a rant to explain it to him, "The number isn't exactly the problem... Listen. You know natto, right? Even if you call natto rotten, it wouldn't--"
Zoro rolled his eyes, and grabbed (Y/N)'s hand in his to lead her away from the idiots. She followed behind him automatically, but laughed to herself still hearing her brother insult her swordsman's with numbers and his sword style.
That was until the sound of the kitchen's door opening, and a new unfamiliar voice suddenly taking broke the conversation, "Looks like we finally made it off the island."
She flinched at the familiar voice, her face paling as she turned around slowly to see a figure coming out from hiding in the shadows. She tried to tug on Zoro's sleeve to grab his attention, but the male was to busy trying to make sure she wasn't hurt.
"Yeah--" He went to answer the voice, rough fingers coming to a pause on brushing her hair off her neck, and finally saw who was actually speaking. His eyes wide went, while the rest of the crew sat up straight and knocked their heads on the railing.
The crew went into defense mode quickly. Zoro and Sanji were instantly standing in front of their captain, shielding her body with theirs as Happy flew into her arms, little paws wrapping around her neck scared.
"Here to avenge your organization?! I'll take you on!" Zoro grunted out with narrowed eyes, hands already grasping his swords to fight the woman now stood in the light for them to all see.
Nami shot up from her spot, and held the red lump in the top of her head as she cried out panicked, "Why are you here?!"
Chopper was running in circles along the railing, while Usopp somehow had a speaker that he was announcing into, dramatic tears running down his cheeks, "Enemy attack...! Enemy attack!"
Luffy hoped down from the railing and stood with Chopper, Nami on his other side, as all the crew stare at the unwanted guest on their ship. Zoro and Sanji hadn't moved from their spot guarding (Y/N), which surprised her as she knew her cook loved to be way too nice to ladies.
Zoro had one of his swords pointed at the woman, but she just casually walked in between the on guard crew, and used her Devil Fruit powers to knock down the weapon in his hand. The same went for Nami's staff, both of them getting knocked out of their hands.
"Didn't I tell you before not to point such dangerous objects at me?" Her tone was smooth, and unbothered, much like her attitude and the way she carried herself. Her dark gaze landed on (Y/N) behind the males, making them stiffen up more protectively.
Nami scowled at the woman, taking a step forward but coward back a bit when Nico Robin's attention directed to her, "How long have you been on this ship?"
"All this time..." The older woman replied, and began to fix up the table and chairs she found in Nami's room that she brought out on deck, "These're your clothes, right? I'm borrowing them."
While Nami screeched and complained about the new incomer, Robin turned to look directly at the (H/C) haired girl again, a small smile perking at her mouth, "Monkey D. (Y/N), you haven't forgotten what you promised me, have you?"
In sync, Sanji and Zoro's heads all spanned to the nervous looking girl, who sheepishly rubbed the back of her head under the straw hat. She heard Happy laughing on her shoulders, just like how Luffy was but more so at her expression upon getting scolded by the two crew mates.
"What did your naiveness get you into now?!" Zoro exclaimed at her with wide eyes, a hand being placed on top of her head to shake her around a bit, and he gained a whine in reply, "Don't make that noise at me, what did you do?!"
Sanji, however irked at the way the swordsman was treating her and used his foot to kick the back of his legs, "Oi! That's no way to ask her! Be nice, moss-head." He snapped, shoving him away that caused Zoro to growl and they butted heads with her in the middle watching.
She deadpanned at her boys, and sighed heavily as she pulled Happy back into her arms against her chest, which he snuggled into, "Hey, no. I didn't forget!" She called out to Robin, who had grabbed the beach chair to sit down in it on the deck, "Why would I forget when I made that promise to you?"
Robin leant back in the chair, and crossed her legs to get into a more comfortable position, "I would hope not, captain." She drawled out in a teasing tone, "You must take responsibility now."
The boys were still arguing behind her, while Luffy was snickering at Usopp still using the microphone to tell Robin to leave the ship. Chopper was attached to the sailing post to watch the thing from above, and Nami was still freaking out over the new girl going into her room.
(Y/N) watched Robin suddenly lean forward, and rested her chin in her palm as her mouth turns into another casually smile directed at her, "Let me... join your crew." She asked of, looking between her and Luffy now.
This made everyone, but Zoro and her to gape in surprise with yells, not expecting that question from their ex enemy. But the Monkey. D girl knew this was bound to happen, after all, it was her fault for saving Robin when she didn't want to be.
*FLASHBACK*
Something rolls against the ground towards where the unconscious body of (Y/N) was, her being half cradled in Cobra's arms. He turns his head to see what the noise was, and spotted a red bottle of liquid by his side.
"Use that immediately." The raspy voice of Robin suddenly spoke up, all of them ignoring how the underground cave they were in was now about to incave, "It can neutralize the poison from Crocodile's hook. I'm sure her body has done most of the work, but that will help speed it up."
Cobra was hesitant to do so, and didn't make a move to grab the bottle as he didn't trust the lady, "You said that time that history is the only thing written here...." He trailed off remembering the words, and adjusted his grip on the younger girl in his lap, "Why did you lie?"
Robin tilted her head sideways, blood dripping down the sides of her mouth from the wound she was given from her ex work partner, and mumbled, "So you knew...? How mean..."
"This country's history isn't written in there." Cobra revealed after a second past between them, using his body to cover (Y/N)'s more in case a rock or debris fell on them, "Everything about the weapon you wanted must've been written there. Of course, it's location, too..."
He now grabbed the bottle off the floor, and took off the top. With his free hand he gently cradled the back of her neck, and began to pour the liquid into her parted mouth, being careful she didn't choke.
"If you had told Crocodile about it, the country would've become his at that point. Isn't that right?"
Robin leant back against the stone behind her, and sighed heavily as she tried to ignore the pain from her wounded side, "I'm not interested in such things. Whether the country and people live or die, I really don't care. I wasn't going to give the weapon to Crocodile from the start."
Cobra hummed in thought, glancing at her over his shoulder as he placed down (Y/N)'s body onto the ground gently, who's fingers were now twitching, "I don't get it.... Then why did you come here?"
"What one expects and what one hopes are different things." She releveled bluntly, wiping off the sweat forming across her brow, "What I was seeking was the Rio Poneglyph. The only 'stone that tells the real history' among the Poneglyphs that are scattered throughout the world. That's the Rio Poneglyph."
The King had fully faced the woman now, but still kept a protective hand over (Y/N)'s awaking figure beside him, and asked confused, "What do you mean 'the real history'?"
Robin chuckled bitterly to herself, and glanced down at the shaking floor beneath them from the rumbling around them, "I give up.... I've searched for it for twenty years and I'm out of clues. This place was my last hope... and a failure. Dying here like this would be a fitting end for me... living like this has exhausted me."
Tears began to appear in her eyes, but it was covered by the dust that came from a rock smashing in between them, "All I want is to learn the history.... but there's too many enemies... to achieve my dream."
A heavy silence took over the atmosphere as Cobra let her words sink in, and the only sound was from the walls breaking around them. However it completely shocked, not only the King, but Robin to when the dust cleared and the figure of (Y/N) was now standing up like nothing ever happened to her.
Her normal (E/C) eyes were illuminating a bright white colour, something that normal happens when she recovers and stared at Robin intently. She blinked a few times, before the glow died down and her normal eyes were back.
In one swift movement, she bent down to pick up Robin in her arms like a bride, who made noises of shock and made sure Cobra was attached to her back, "Alright, let's go up now."
Cobra held onto her like she had down to him before when he took her back to her crew, while her hands were holding onto a dumbfounded Robin, "Wait a second! I no longer have a reason to live!" The woman exclaimed, trying to push out of the hold she was in, "Leave me here!"
The Monkey. D girl gazed down at the older girl in her arms, both of their eyes meeting as hers were calm and Robin's were more wild, "Why would I do that for?" She spoke in a soft voice, before the normal grin she wore appeared, "You have a dream, right? Than I promise you I'll help you accomplish that!"
*FLASHBACK OVER*
"You made me live then when I wanted to die. That's your crime." Robin summed up after reminding the girl of what she promised, and spotted how Chopper was sat on the stairs listening now, "There's no place for me to go or go back to. So let me stay on this ship."
(Y/N) hummed to herself, and rocked back and forth on her foot's heel as she carried Happy who gulped knowing what his best friend would say, "Oh, I see.... you're right, you can join us! No issues with me, right Lu?"
She turned to glance at her brother, and he nodded his head in agreement with a bright smile, "Yep, we have no choice! You can join." He added with a thumbs up, which made the crew all screech their names in disapproval.
Zoro smacked his head grumbling, and reached his hand out to grab her by the waist to pull her back away from the amused Robin, "Princess, did you even think this through?" He stressed, worry evident in his tone, "I trust you, you know that. But I don't trust her."
A small giggle left her watching his face scrunch up in disgust looking at Robin, and placed Happy down who ran after the hysterical Chopper, "Don't worry, Zoe. She isn't a bad person." She assured him, and gave the rest of her crew a bright, beaming grin, "Trust Lu and me on this one guys."
The swordsman grumbled some more, but wouldn't disagree with his captain's orders. He pulled her into his side protectively, sending an evil eye to Robin and then to Sanji, who was fawning over having another girl in the crew.
(Y/N) smiled to herself as she leant into his warm body, and didn't worry about Sanji since she knew that was the way he was with woman. But it didn't stop the way her heart clenched a bit, but ignored it and focused on the task at hand which was interrogating Robin.
Currently, Luffy, Happy and Chopper were being amused by Robin's power and they sat on the deck following each way the hand moved. At the same time, Usopp was interviewing Robin, and trying to find out what really her reason was for wanting to join the crew.
Laughter came from the trio sat on the deck, and (Y/N) smiled more to herself hearing that sound, as she was beside Zoro like usual. Her attention kept going back to the interview, and heard bits and pieces about who Robin was, and how she was an archaeologist.
The more she spoke, the more Zoro nor Nami were buying it, and she could tell by the shadowy expression across her swordsman's face beside her. She squeezed his hand perched on her waist, causing him to briefly glance down at her and brushed his nose against the top of her forehead in a caress.
"(N/N)! Luffy! This investigation has concluded that she's too dangerous!" Usopp wailed out dramatically once he finished the discussion, tears streaming down his face after hearing Robin could assassinate someone if asked.
While she smiled knowingly at her crewmate, Luffy was too busy laughing and getting ticked by Robin's power with Happy and Chopper in the same situation on the deck's floor.
This caused Nami to intervene now, but she was easily won over by the jewelry Robin had from Crocodile. Nami was now fawning over the new member also, and took the bag of gems that she offered, which didn't surprise her friends at all.
"Nami's been sucked in! She's completely following that woman's lead." Usopp had moved over to where Zoro and the captain were, and was whispering to them both, but their attention was taken away when Sanji appeared from the kitchen.
Instead of going to Robin first, he had landed right in front of the startled (Y/N) who looked at the cook with doe eyes. He stood up with a charming smile, and grabbed her hand with his free one to place a soft kiss against her knuckles.
"I made this for you, mon amour." He spoke in a tender tone, one that had her insides melting and Zoro to grumble beside her watching the interaction. Sanji passed her a piece of chocolate cake, and brushed his knuckle down her flushed cheek, "I hope you like it. It was made with extra love."
She giggled flustered at his sudden attention, and took the plate in her hands with a wide grin, "Thank you, Ji. I'll be sure to enjoy it even more than." She chirped sweetly, and it made his eyes turned into hearts, steam almost coming out of his ears as he stumbled in his step away from her.
Zoro rolled his eyes annoyed, as she happily ate the cake beside him and they all watched Sanji now pass a treat to Robin, "And his reaction is no surprise." He grumbled to Usopp, not liking how he was being a womanizer after treating their captain the way he did.
"Yeah.... we just have to consider that he was a lost cause from the start.." Usopp trailed off in a deadpan, grabbing a piece of the cake she offered him that he gladly ate with a smile in thanks sent her way.
Sadly, the sharp shooter was soon won over also, as Luffy had turned around to show him an impersonation of Chopper using Robin's powers for the antlers on his head. This made him, Happy, Chopper and now Usopp to crack up into laughter, leaving a very unhappy Zoro.
"Don't worry, Zo." (Y/N) spoke to him quietly over the loud crew around them, swallowing the last of her cake as she turned to look up at the scowling male beside her, "You know I won't let anything happen to you or the crew. Trust me, Robin isn't a bad person."
His dark eyes flickered from hers and down to her parted lips, before grumbling some more, "Yeah, you're my captain. I trust you with my life, (Y/N)." He rumbled out softly, and gave her cheek a playful squeeze, "It's you that I'm worried about, you gotta be more careful."
She just whined in pain at his tug to her skin, and gripped onto his wrist as he smirked down at her fondly, while the crew get ready to set course for their next destation.
