BEAUTY ITSELF TOOK human form in Leon Ainsworth. This was simply a fact of life, like the sky being blue or flowers blooming. It was unquestionable, unchallenged. It was also something Leon himself, despite having been told it before, appeared to be completely unaware of. Had you asked anyone, they would've told you that this was what truly enhanced his charm: his lack of narcissism.

All and any would come to hope that this blissful ignorance regarding his own beauty would cloud Leon for the rest of his life. If only these hopes could've become a reality.

The downfall of Leon Ainsworth's ethereality starts with Percy Weasley in all of his righteousness. It would come to be one of the many cautionary tales of narcissism.

NOTES.

━ tis the picture of dorian gray, so you must have read that in order to attain this plot. also the book is dark, and thus so will this fic. contains themes of suicide & fausto's deal.

━ so the character alignments would be: leon (slyther) = dorian, percy (gryff) = henry wotton, penelope (raven) = lady wotton, gabriel truman (huffle) = basil, reagan & martina rosier [ocs] (huffle and slyther, respectively) = sybil & james vane

━ leon is a half-blood, a very rich one at that. he may not be one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight by any means, but his family name has weight in both the muggle and magical worlds, and people are acutely aware of this.

━ reagan and martina are (obviously) sisters. martina is older by two years. reagan is a hopeful little baby, filled with dreams and ambition. she's fascinated by the muggle world and adores the entertainment industry in it. she does acting in small plays in hogsmeade. martina is a lot more inclined towards her family's beliefs and is kind of judge mental of her sister's ambitions.

━ uh uh, if youve read the book you already know how the story goes but im gonna explain how it would go in this context

━ leon & percy meet through gabriel, a mutual friend. gabriel is fascinated by leon in general (he in love uwu) and he's afraid of percy "tainting" him. he doesn't want leon to become fully aware of his own looks, and afraid of loosing them, something he's sure percy will cause.

━ gabriel is an artist, he's painting leon

━ he's right, percy immediately goes on his pretentious but painfully accurate rants about beauty and how leon should fear the day age makes him loose his own

━ and so leon becomes super paranoid about his looks and also super hyper aware of them.

━ leon and percy become lowkey like,,, close. percy gives leon this whole new perspective on the world, although he's judgmental of the way out perceptions are so influenced by others. tainted. they go on not-dates and gabriel is fucking fuming because he KNEW this would happen but he can't do anything about it now.

━ leon has feelings for percy and constantly wishes to please him. this doesn't necessarily have to be explicit but it's one of his main motivations for hanging onto every single of the other boy's words

━ at some point in this, leon should imply he'd be willing to sell his soul if it meant he got to keep his looks while talking to percy

━ percy takes this quite literally and, in exchange for eternal youth (& beauty) he takes the leon's soul. it becomes trapped by the previously mentioned painting that gabriel did

━ anyways this should extend through ps & cos, then during poa, which would be percy and leon's last year at hogwarts, leon sees one of reagan's plays and is immediately taken by her. he adores her acting ability and decides he wants to be with her before even meeting her properly

━ he talks to her after having gone to several of her plays, says shit about how they're meant to be together and how amazing she is. reagan, sweet naive bby, falls for him. hard.

━ the two get together and gabriel, still a fool in love, is crushed by this. percy is well aware of the boy's feelings for leon but still encourages leon and Reagan's relationship.

━ um um, we all know how this goes. gabriel, leon and percy go to one of the plays, reagan does terribly, leon gets super and and screams at her about how her talent was essentially her whole worth and breaks up w her. he blames percy for this, saying that the other boy's judgements of reagan are what caused his reaction so he ignores him when he keeps owling him. he goes to apologize to reagan but finds out that the letters said reagan had killed herself the night before.

━ the whole ending should be kinda sped up and packed for the fic. Reagan's death should be the trigger for leon realising what's happened instead of it like,, extending through years and years. the painting had aged, instead of Leon.

━ he destroys the painting in a fit of rage, he's horrified by his own "true" looks painted by this. but, given that the painting contained his soul, he dies when it's destroyed.

━ (also ik basil dies in the book but it's your choice whether or not gabriel does k bye)
