EIGHT

-3 YEARS BEFORE THE BLAST-

It had been a few years - 6 to be exact -since Cordelia and Myrtle took Pandora into their coven. She was a beautiful young woman, with shoulder-length raven hair with piercing dark green eyes. Pandora was terrifying due to her magical strength but this did not stop her from making friends among the coven. Her closest friend was Zoe Benson. They both taught the new witches the different skills they possessed.

Pandora's favourite 'student' was Mallory - she was a humble yet proud witch, she never deliberately showed off, she would simply be lost in her magic and out-perform the other witches. Her favourite moment of Mallory's development was when Zoe and Pandora asked the witches to change the colour of the white roses. All of them did, but Mallory went the extra step and made the petals fall off and turn into butterflies, and when touched, turn back to white rose petals. It was truly enchanting sight for all the witches to witness. Coincidentally, Cordelia - the supreme - was there to witness Mallory's potential.

But the silent celebration of Mallory's potential was cut short as Myrtle walked in. "The Hawthorne School for Exceptional Young Men. They called an emergency council. We're obliged to get on a plane immediately."

-------------

Cordelia, Myrtle, Zoe and Pandora had travelled from New Orleans straight to California, where the warlock school was located. They stepped out of a black car and begrudgingly trudged towards the circular structure in the centre of the field.

"Are you sure we couldn't have made them come to us?" Zoe asked Myrtle.

"Rules are rules. Besides, do we really want all those men traipsing around our house?" Myrtle said with a roll of her eyes and a small smirk. Pandora snorted and linked her pale arm with the older woman. Pandora always looked up to Myrtle, like a mother-figure, they had always gotten along. In fact, it was Myrtle who got Pandora onto the Witches Council in the first place, of course, Cordelia was going to place the girl in any way, but Myrtle made it happen sooner rather than later.

The four women were seated at a table with The Warlock Council- Ariel, John Henry, Behold, and Baldwin. "Let the record show that at the request of Hawthorne School, that we have assembled an emergency meeting of the council."

"In order to address what must surely be a matter of grave and pressing importance," Myrtle said with an exasperated sigh.

"We recently took in a boy here at the school. At first, we thought he was simply one of us, a warlock who needed our help and training - " Ariel began explaining.

"But?" Zoe and Pandora both said with a roll of their eyes.

"The things he did were extraordinary, and after conducting the requisite test of his powers, we came to the conclusion that his abilities are so impressive that they rise to the level of Supreme." Ariel continued.

The four women began to laugh. "A boy? As Supreme? Are you serious?" Pandora snickered.

"Ariel, you actually believe this?" Cordelia questioned with a certain degree of disinterest and mock.

"We wouldn't have summoned the council otherwise."

"Men are simply not equal to women when it comes to magical ability -" Cordelia argued.

"Not to mention everything else," Mrtyle said in a matter-of-fact tone, making the two younger girls stifle their laughs.

"You're not hearing us out -"

"There's nothing to hear!" Cordelia began to lose her patience with the four men as her voice rose. "There has never been a male Supreme, there will never be a male Supreme. It will simply never happen -"

"Listen to yourselves. You say something hasn't happened, so therefore it can never happen." Ariel interrupted Cordelia.

"What do you want from us?" Zoe asked with a tired sigh.

"We want you to administer the test of the Seven Wonders." The room went silent for a brief moment after Ariel said this. The horrid memories of mine and my friends test of the Seven Wonders. It was draining and dreadful. The Coven had lost many witches due to the test. Losing Misty Day was probably the most challenging for the entire Coven. Queenie was taken from us by the Hotel Cortez. And although Madison was a horrible person to others, Pandora probably missed her the most.

The first challenges were easy. Telekinesis and Concilium - the movement of objects without a physical connection and mind control; they were simply. Descensum - projecting one's soul into their own personal afterlife - was more challenging, but manageable. That was where the Coven lost Misty. Then it was transmutation - teleportation - but this where they almost lost Zoe as she teleported onto a spike outside the academy. The next challenge was to Vitalum Vitalis - resurrection - on Zoe, we all had an attempt. Queenie failed, dropping herself from the competition. Madison refused to revive Zoe, and instead performed the power on a fly. Pandora succeded in reviving Zoe, making Pandora, Madison and Cordelia the last remaining candidates for the role of Supreme. They continued until the tests until it was just Cordelia and Pandora left after Madison is murdered by Kyle. The next challenges included pyrokinesis and divinationBoth Pandora and Cordelia had completed all the tests bar the last, but Pandora deliberately messed up her divination, so Cordelia could become Supreme. However, Cordelia knew this would happen from her clairvoyance and became fond of the girl, but also wary, as she knew Pandora had the potential to be the most powerful witch that has ever lived.

Pandora was snapped out of her thoughts as Cordelia said, "There will be no test, that is this council's decision."

"Why do you get to decide that?" Ariel yelled with frustration.

"Because I'm the fucking Supreme!" Cordelia shouted.

"No, you're just a scared bigot."

"Scared of what?"

"Of the Alpha. I'm telling you the time has come." Ariel said with confidence. Pandora looked over at her Supreme and noticed her visible distress. The girl stood up and placed her hand on Cordelia's shoulder.

"And your time is up. The council is closed. The decision is final," Pandora said with an equal amount of confidence as the shorter man in front of her.

-------------

The three witches and the four warlocks had left the Supreme to her thoughts in the Council Room. Pandora, Zoe and Myrtle were waiting outside the main hall for the car.

"Honestly, the audacity of those men. I mean, seriously, a male as Supreme? Don't make me laugh." Myrtle snickered to the two younger witches.

"Well, I suppose this boy must be powerful for the council to make an urgent meeting with us. Plus, we haven't even met the boy, we don't know his potential. Surely, we could at least see his powers, then make the judgement. All we are going of is four Level 3 warlocks' opinions. For all we know, he could be a Level 4." Pandora argued, although she loved her Coven, and would do anything to protect it, she did feel a tiny amount of sympathy for this boy.

"Come on Dora, you can't be feeling sorry for those ruffians, surely," Myrtle calmly spoke.

"Myrtle, they aren't ruffians -" Zoe countered.

"Ah, both of you are going soft for the boys," Myrtle dramatically spoke with her glove-clad hand placed over her heart. The two young witches laughed as John Henry approached them.

"Your car is ready." He spoke. Myrtle and Zoe nodded and walked back into the Council Room to fetch their Supreme. Pandora began to follow, but John Henry grabbed her arm, stopping her movements. "Please, do not try to change your Supreme's mind. The boy, he is dangerous, evil. He is too powerful."

"Aren't we all evil?"

Pandora noticed her peers walking towards them, and used her powers to shove him away. She walked behind Cordelia and Myrtle, with Zoe. Zoe leant towards Pandora's ear. "What was that about?" The dark blonde girl whispered.

"Nothing to worry about," Pandora whispered back with a smile.

The four witches stepped outside the academy to see three figures dressed in all black walking towards them. It was two girls and a boy.

Pandora squinted her eyes at the group and recognised the two girls.

Madison and Queenie.

Pandora began running towards her old friends. She heard Madison squeal and run towards her as well. Pandora leapt into her old friend's arm and squeezed her as if she was gonna lose her again. "How?" Pandora whispered to her blonde best friend.

"Thank this dude." Madison nodded to the golden-haired boy stood behind them as she broke the hug. Pandora studied him for a while, taking in his features and analysing his soul. Pandora felt like she knew this boy - as if they soul's had met in another life - and this thought caused the brunette's smile to falter with unease.

"Thank you..." Pandora praised the boy hesitantly.

The boy stepped forward and took Pandora's hand, bringing it to his lips and placing a kiss upon her knuckles. "Micahel Langdon. And you're very welcome, Pandora."

Pandora became slightly uncomfortable under Michael's intense stare and removed her eyes from the boy. She looked back at her coven and noticed Cordelia sprawled across the ground. "Cordelia," Pandora whispered as she dragged Madison to her Supreme.
