Once the night air got to be too chilling on their skin, Felix and Changbin took refuge inside a café. Light classical music that had no lyrics played softly in the background as the teenage waitress brought the duo their hot chocolates. Felix felt relieved when he touched the mug, and it warmed his frigid fingers. Changbin felt the same way, gently wrapping his hands around his mug in order to warm them. The older boy was the first to actually take a sip, and Felix watched him, looking for a reaction. Changbin looked at the Australian questioningly, blinking twice in silence.
"Is it good?" Felix asked.
Though he was confused, the raven haired boy nodded his head. Having anyone else watch him wouldn't have even phased the shorter boy. But it was Felix that was watching his every move, and for some reason, that fact made him act a bit more carefully. Changbin still didn't understand Felix. Not one bit. The younger boy confused him beyond belief. Not just in his own actions, but in the way he made the older boy feel inside. Every emotion that Felix sent coursing through every vein in Changbin's body was foreign.
"What's your favorite color, Changbin?" The Australian asked out of nowhere after taking his first sip of hot chocolate.
The older boy cocked his head to one side slightly, wondering why the younger boy had decided to ask such a question so randomly.
"I like blue," Felix continued on.
"It's the color of peace and trust, and I think that's nice. Plus, it's pretty," the taller boy smiled.
Changbin liked how Felix had a reason for liking the color blue. It made him realize that the Australian was deeper and more thoughtful than he'd originally pegged him to be.
"What about you?"
The older boy shrugged his shoulders in reply.
"I don't think I have one," he admitted.
Changbin didn't really fancy colors. He was normally dressed in black; just because it was a color that made him feel powerful. There was also no chance of anyone ever seeing through the color black if he were to get wet. Everything was covered; just the way he wanted it. Just the way he needed it. And yet, he couldn't say that black was his favorite color, because it'd been on his body for so long that he'd come to hate it. But, he had to admit that Felix reminded him of red. Not just because of his power, though that did have a little something to do with it. He thought it because red, like Felix, was a color that was completely original. Red is the first primary color. It demands the undivided attention of anyone who's eyes land on it...Just like Felix. Because Felix wasn't ever meant to blend in. He was born to stand out, and someone like Changbin who was destined to be invisible, couldn't help but to appreciate Felix's individuality, even if it was a bit muted sometimes. In order to change the topic of conversation and keep the talking going, Felix spoke up again.
"I don't like cold weather," he stated.
Felix got cold easily, so he wasn't a fan of being out at night, and he disliked the colder months altogether.
"I don't like it either," Changbin agreed.
But, Changbin disliked it for completely different reasons. The cold was something that the raven haired boy always associated with himself, and he hated every part of himself as well as everything that went along with him. Cold weather made him feel cold on the outside too, just like how his insides felt on a daily basis. He was sure that his heart was nothing but a beating block of pure ice lodged inside his chest. Felix smiled lightly at the fact that he'd just learned something new about Changbin, and he committed it to memory. It was small, and possibly one of the most irrelevant things that would ever be in the Australian's memory, but it didn't matter to him. All that mattered was that Changbin had told him something about himself.

Felix and Changbin were the last to arrive back at the hideout. It was past midnight when they quietly stepped inside, only to find that all the others were still awake, so there was no reason to try and be stealthy ninjas any longer.
"There you are! We've been looking all over for you two!" Woojin exclaimed.
Changbin, not wanting to be a part of the conversation, quickly took the bags from Felix's hands and made his way to their shared room.
"What are you talking about? You all went down to the city too, didn't you?" The Australian questioned.
He wondered if there was some curfew rule that he'd broken, and worry pricked at the back of his mind. Just in case that was the reason, he started coming up with apologies to Red.
"Are you saying Changbin went to the city?" Hyunjin questioned, and his face was just like all the others'; completely shocked.
Even Seungmin, the smartest one of them all, seemed completely dumbfounded, much to Jeongin's brief enjoyment.
"Yeah, we both did," Felix stated, not quite understanding why everyone was looking at him like he was a mythical creature.
Seungmin brought both hands up to his face, rubbing his temples like he was getting a bad headache. The redhead was just confused, which was a feeling that he wasn't accustomed to since he was so incredibly intelligent.
"I...Don't understand this," he said.
The words on his tongue were wrong. They weren't something that was ever supposed to come out of his mouth. He was a boy with superhuman intelligence! He wasn't supposed to be confused by anything. Ever. And yet, Changbin's actions towards the Australian baffled Seungmin to the point of massive confusion. But really, nobody was more confused by Changbin's actions than the raven haired boy himself. He felt inclined to trust Felix, which was incredibly scary to him. He'd told himself long ago that he'd never again trust another person, and yet he was beginning to trust Felix more and more each day.
"What are you talking about?" Felix asked, looking at the seven boys in front of him.
"What is happening to me?" Seungmin mumbled to himself, running his fingers through his hair in frustration.
"Hey, don't freak out," Jeongin said worriedly, gently grabbing onto the redhead's arm in an attempt to calm him down.
Seungmin's head began to throb.
"Are you telling me that you and Changbin are becoming closer?"
Felix was a bit frightened by Seungmin's sudden change in demeanor.
"Yeah, I guess so," Felix answered, unconsciously taking a step back away from the redhead.
"This...Wasn't part of my calculations," Seungmin stated, pulling his arm out of Jeongin's grasp.
Tell me about it, Changbin thought to himself as he listened from the bedroom.
"Calculations?" Felix questioned further.
"For as long as I've been here, I've been able to make a general analysis of all the members of Supernova; including you, Felix. Changbin is emotionally closed off from the rest of the world. He shuts everyone out. He doesn't care at all, while you care too much. You're the type of person who wants to please others. You want to make everyone your friend. And, according to what I know, which is almost everything, he should hate you! You two should be at one another's throats if anything!" Seungmin exclaimed.
"You can't just categorize people like that, Seungmin," Minho said cautiously.
"Yes you can!" Seungmin defended.
"Categorizing individuals is a normal way for the brain to process new people. As much as we don't like it, we label everything without really thinking anything of it. Changbin is an emotionless loner with a massively troubled past, and Felix is a naive boy from a good family who likes to think he can please everyone! Those two personality types shouldn't converge," the redhead stated.
"But, don't they say that opposites attract?" Jisung chimed in.
"That's in correlation to the fact that there's strong, undeniable attraction between the positive and negative aspects of an atom. In reality, it has absolutely nothing to do with human thought. Humans are inclined to choose partners that they inherently share one or more interests with," Seungmin explained.
"P-Partners?" Felix stuttered out.
Yes, he and Changbin were partners, but definitely not in the way that Seungmin was using the word.
"I'm taking you to bed," Jeongin said, standing up and quickly latching onto the older boy's wrist.
"Let's go," the youngest said sternly, and without anything further, Seungmin walked away with Jeongin, retreating to their bedroom.
Felix was massively confused. Why was Seungmin freaking out so badly because of the fact that he and Changbin were getting closer? Wasn't that a good thing?
"Don't worry about him," Chan said, draping a comforting arm over the younger boy's shoulders.
How can I not be worried after all that? Felix thought, but he didn't dare to say it out loud.
Felix brought his hand up, removing Chan's arm from his body.
"I'm going to bed," he mumbled, promptly turning away from the others and making his way into his and Changbin's room.
He slipped under the covers, staring up at the ceiling as his thoughts ran wild. Maybe Seungmin was right? Maybe Changbin really was destined to hate Felix with every bone in his body. The thought of being hated already scared Felix, but to be hated by Changbin...That was something that felt soul crushing in every sense of the phrase. He didn't want the raven haired boy to hate him. If anything, he hoped to become much closer to Changbin, and maybe even help him sort himself out. It was obvious to everyone that the shorter boy was a bit shattered, but Felix was sure that he could help to fix him. But, after hearing Seungmin's words, the Australian wasn't so sure anymore. Maybe Changbin really would grow to despise the younger boy one day. Before he knew it, tears were leaking from his eyes, and he fell asleep to the steady stream of the tears that were staining his pillow.
Less then twenty feet away, Changbin was feeling the same way. Thoughts swirled in his head, making him feel even worse about himself than he normally did. Everything that Seungmin said made so much sense to the raven haired boy, and he didn't like that at all. He wished that the redhead's words didn't hit him in places that made the ever present aching that he always felt twenty times more painful. He didn't cry. Instead, he became more numb. He felt like he was trapped inside a vacuum. If Felix grew to hate him, then things would go back to the way they'd always been. Before Felix arrived, Changbin rarely spoke, rarely interacted with anyone at all, and he felt absolutely nothing. But after Felix's arrival, Changbin was put into a precarious situation. The younger boy had ignited something deep within the raven haired boy's chest. It was like Felix was using his powers on Changbin without even trying or doing anything in particular at all.
And, if Felix were to stop trying to be close to Changbin, everything would go back to back to the way it was before he had arrived. The older boy would be left alone, isolated, and completely numb on the inside, devoid of every human emotion known to man. Everything would fall back into its old place; so what was the big deal? Why did it matter so much? Changbin was accustomed to feeling empty and even completely dead inside. If anything, it was the true human feelings that he couldn't quite wrap his head around. And, without Felix, they would disappear. He wouldn't have to worry about the fuzziness in his chest, or never ending confusion that came with Felix's arrival. Everything would be simple again. There would be no need for complicated thoughts ever again. And yet, the more Changbin thought about the entire situation, the more he hoped that things wouldn't ever go back to the way they'd been before Felix walked into his life.
*🔥*🔥*🔥*🔥*🔥*
The next morning, Felix woke before Changbin. The older boy hadn't gotten very much sleep due to his head filling with a novel of thoughts that were written in a foreign language, so he'd ended up passing out much, much later than normal. The Australian, who's normal seat at the kitchen table was right beside of Seungmin, ended up switching seats with Woojin. He wasn't particularly angry with the redhead, but the words Seungmin had said really hurt Felix and made him question himself, as well as his intentions going forward in his and Changbin's friendship. Pair that with the fact that the Australian had almost kissed the raven haired boy in his sleep in a moment of confusion and tiredness, and Felix seemingly felt like the worst person on the face of planet Earth. His goal was to help Changbin and become a partner that he could put all his trust into. But Felix had almost violated the older boy in his sleep; not that he'd really meant to.
"Are you feeling okay, Felix? You look paler than normal," Minho noted.
"Oh. Do I?" The Australian questioned, bringing one hand up to touch his cheek.
Physically, he was okay. But mentally and emotionally, he was a massive wreck. He still hadn't fully come to terms with his powers yet, and in a lot of ways, he scared himself. He was constantly wondering whether or not he'd be able to have complete control over them. Fire is one of those things that's extremely unpredictable, and the unpredictability of his powers scared the brunette greatly. He wondered if he'd lose control and hurt one of the others. He was worried about losing control and possibly hurting his own partner.
Felix hardly touched his breakfast. He simply pushed the cereal around in the bowl and watched as it got soggy from the milk. He knew that Changbin would be upset if he knew about how he skipped breakfast, but Felix just couldn't find it in himself to choke anything down. His worrying had his stomach twisting into knots, and Seungmin's words kept repeating themselves over and over again. He went straight from the kitchen to the backyard in order to do some solo training while Changbin caught up on his sleep. Felix blamed himself for the older boy's over sleeping. He thought that if he hadn't kept him out so late and constantly made him waste so much energy on him during training that Changbin would already be awake. So, he let the older boy sleep. Just as Felix closed his eyes to start up the first of his movements, his name was called. He peeled his eyes open again, only to see Seungmin jogging across the yard towards him. The Australian internally cringed. Of course he knew he'd have to make amends with the redhead eventually, but he was hoping to wait a couple of days before he confronted the issue head on. However, Seungmin wanted it out of the way. And, after a long and drawn out speech from Jeongin after they returned to their bedroom, Seungmin realized just how heartless he'd been when he said those words to Felix.
"I...I'm not very good at apologizing. But, I'm sorry that I made you upset. I didn't mean to be so childish," the redhead said sincerely.
Felix didn't want any type of drama with anyone in the hideout. He didn't want anyone to dislike him. Plus, he found that Seungmin's apology was quite honest, and he knew that it probably took a lot for him of all people to admit that he was wrong about something.
"It's fine," Felix said.
"I mean, I was upset, but I know you didn't really mean any harm."
Seungmin was relieved that Felix was so forgiving, and Felix was relieved that Seungmin had brought everything up to end it right away. The two boys hugged it out, much to the relief of everyone inside, too. With no hard feelings, Seungmin went back inside, leaving Felix to get back to his training. But when the redhead opened the door, he almost ran into Changbin. The older boy had woken up, and was about to go outside and begin training, only to stop in his tracks when he saw Seungmin and Felix embracing in the yard. After hearing every word that Seungmin said last night, Changbin could only imagine what kind of thing the redhead had just said to the Australian.
"Sorry," Seungmin mumbled an apology to Changbin for almost walking into him.
The raven haired boy didn't give a response, not that Seungmin was expecting one. Changbin made his way out the door, only to be spotted by Felix right off the bat.
"Oh, good morning. Ready for practice?" The brunette smiled kindly.
And though Changbin wanted to ask Felix what had just happened between him and Seungmin, he quickly realized that it simply wasn't his business. He couldn't help but to be curious, as any person would be, but he knew he didn't really have the right to ask the younger boy what he was saying to other people. There was also the fact that Felix didn't have a single clue that Changbin even knew about what went down between him and the redhead last night. He'd left the room before the conversation started. The older boy nodded his head, promptly taking his place in front of Felix about ten feet away. But even as the two of them began to train, Changbin's thoughts didn't slow down at all. Thankfully, he was skilled enough with his power to be able to use it without thinking too hard about it, because half of his mind was in another world completely. The world of his thoughts. The world that was dark, and lonely, and only made him feel twenty times worse about himself.
Last night, Changbin's mind had been a jumbled mess. But, now that morning had come, he was thinking a bit clearer. There were many thoughts in that disastrous head of his, but one of them was so much louder than all the others.
When will you leave me all alone like all the others, Felix?
