[ RECAP ]
In a matter of seconds, I saw an old lady crossing the sidewalk which meant I mustn't have seen the light turn red.
I redirected my motorcycle as fast as I could in order to avoid hitting the woman and lost control.
I crashed directly into a pole and fell harshly off my bike. Everything after that, turned pitch black.
As I open my eyes, I couldn't help but wonder where I was. It was an unfamiliar place. I try to stand up but instantly fell back down on the strange bed due to my head throbbing. What the hell happened? And where the hell am I?
"Oh," I see a familiar old lady walks in. "You're awake!"
"Um," I raise my eyebrow. "Who are you? And what am I doing here?"
"You took a big hit when you crashed into that pole," she sits down next to me. "I made you some soup, it will help with your head throbbing."
"Uh," she hands me a bowl of soup and I take it. "T-Thank you."
"No, thank you," she says.
"What do you mean?"
"Well," she rubs her nape nervously. "I was in such a hurry, that I didn't see you coming. The light wasn't green for me to pass but I still crossed it. You sacrificed your life in order to avoid hitting me so I owe you a big thanks."
"Oh," I looked down. I haven't really received a genuine thanks in such a long time for some selfless action I did. To be honest, I haven't been selfless in a while.
"You could rest up here as much as you like," she smiles. "If there is anything you need then just tell me."
I look around to search for my bag and that's when I noticed that I wasn't wearing the clothes that I had before. I also had some bandages on my abdomen, chest, and head. "Where are my clothes?"
"I'm washing them right now since it was dirty from the accident," she says.
"What exactly happened after I crashed into the pole?"
"Well," she starts out. "After you crashed, I instantly rushed over to check how badly injured you were. I called the ambulance and once they got there, they took you to the hospital. They said that you would be fine and that there weren't any deep injures."
"What happened after? How did I get here?"
"Once they saw that you were okay and didn't need any urgent medical attention, they told me that you needed to be taken home since they had a lot of patients and needed the room. Plus, the injuries were going to heal soon since they weren't critical. So I brought you to my home because I don't know where you live."
"And these clothes?" I ask as I look at the baggy joggers and hoodie I was wearing.
"Oh, well my grandson arrived shortly after you were brought here and advised that you needed to be changed into fresh clothes. He offered some of his clothes, which are the ones you currently have on."
"Did he change me?!"
"No," she laughs.
"I wanted to be respectful," I heard a voice say from the doorway of the room. I look over and see a guy that looked around my age and had grey hair with black tips at the ends.
"How are you feeling?" he approaches me.
"I just have a bit of a headache," I tell him.
"We should probably go check that out with the doctors," he says.
"No need," I shook my head. "It's not that bad."
"You could never be too sure." I frown since I didn't want to pay more medical bills.
"Shin-chan," the old lady calls him. "I'll go to the store to buy her some Tylenol for her head pain."
"Do you want me to go instead?" he offers.
"No no no," she shoos him as she starts to leave. "You watch over the girl. I won't take long."
She then leaves, leaving the boy and me in silence. "Do you need anything?"
"Well, I could change back into my clothes if they're clean already so I could give yours back," I respond.
He nods and leaves to go get my clothes. I looked around the place and saw how organized and clean everything was. They seem like the type that cares about appearance. "Here you go," he places the clothes on the bed.
"Thank you," I say as I take off the hoodie.
"You should really wait to change until you're alone in the room," I hear him say. "It's not safe to do that around anyone, especially someone you don't know."
"It's not like I'm getting naked," I calmly tell him. "I still have my bra and panties on."
He lets out a sigh as I finish changing back into my clothes. "What happened to my bike?"
"It's getting repaired," he responds.
"Shit," I scoff. "I have to figure out how to make money to pay for the repair damages and the medical bill from before."
"Don't worry about that," he says. "My grandma already paid for it."
"What?! Why?"
"It's a thank you for your sacrifice," he responds. "I still haven't gotten the opportunity to thank you as well. Th-"
"There's no need to," I cut him off. "Can I have a pencil and paper?"
He looks at me confused but still brings me the items I asked for. Once he gave them to me, I started to write down an address. "Here," I hand it to him and grab my bag. "Send my bike there once it is finished. I have to go."
"Wait," he stops me. "You should stay to rest up and we still haven't thanked you enough."
"I'll be fine," I tell him as I walk towards the door. "Tell your grandma that her soup was delicious and she should be a bit more careful when crossing a red light."
"We still haven't gotten your name," he says.
"There is no need to," I open the door and look back at him before I leave. "Bye Shin~chan."
