Moon awoke to the sound of birds chirping and water droplets dripping onto her ceiling, she yawned as she rubbed her eyes. The young blonde girl pulled herself up out of bed as she made her way towards her bedroom window.

She made a squealing sound of happiness as she had the biggest smile on her face, she had seen that the hurricane was done for and she wouldn't have to be scared up in her room anymore.

Quickly she threw her pj bottoms off and threw her baggy t shirt off right onto the floor, she would put them away nicer later as she quickly put on a yellow short summery dress with daisy's scattered all over it.

She quickly ran down the stairs as she was throwing her hair up into a quick high bun, pulling the two strands of hair out of the front.

Booking it for the front door she grabbed the handle quickly opening it and closing the door calmly behind her, " hi dad! " Moon smiled running past her dad who was walking with who she thought was Scooters wife.

" hey careful where your running moonshine, I don't want you to get hurt! " Ward replied back turning his head as him and Scooters wife watched as the young teen ran past in her own little world.

She turned around as she decided to run around the side of the house to the backyard instead where she spotted her sister jumping around, a tennis racket in her hand as she was swinging frantically at the air above her.

" Wheezie what is our sister doing? " Moon turned her head to the curly smaller brunette girl that stood on the other side of the pool with her phone in her hand, she was surprised she didn't drop her phone in the pool yet.

" saving mice? " she shrugged before looking back down at her phone, Moon changed her gaze back over to Sarah before picking up her own tennis racket, joining the other blonde.

" oh hey Moon! " Sarah huffed as she swung at the birds that would come anywhere close to the mice, " hey Sarah! " Moon jumped swinging at the birds that would make a scratching sound at her every time she stopped them from having a snack.

" Sarah, Moon! " a ringing voice from afar from where the girls swung their rackets brought the attention of Moon, she turned her head to the voice as Sarah continued jumping up and down. It was their father of course, " we're busy! " her voice was wheezy as she had been jumping for long before Moon joined in.

" with what?! " his voice lowered down into a flat tone, " the burrows filled with water from the surge, dad. " Moons voice was also a bit wheezy as she was out of breath, Sarah had started running past her. " the birds are having a field day! " she continued on as Moon had giggled and ran after her sister.

" the birds have to eat too, girls " Ward sounded almost embarrassed as his two daughters were chasing after birds and swinging what seemed like tennis rackets at them. " No, it's a mouse genocide out here. No! " Sarah yelled as Moon and them both failed to hit a bird that had dived right into a bush.

" it's the cycle of life is what it is, sweethearts. Now, come on. " Moon was out of breath and wanted to take a break but she still didn't listen to her dad either, neither did Sarah. The two continued watching the birds and whacking any chance they got.

" we can't be apart of it dad! " Moon turned to Sarah who nodded her head at her, " first they came for the mice, daddy. " Sarah added. " mhm, that's true what she said dad! " Moon turned around when she suddenly had a massive sigh, pushing her hair back.

" I have a human being.... " Ward had a tone in his voice a tone that said stop embarrassing me girls, as a shorter women appeared from behind Ward and at the side of him. What Moon had remembered was none other then Scooters wife, the one she saw earlier.

" oh my, I'm so sorry. Hello there! " Moons heart was racing as she had probably just completely embarrassed herself in front of Scooters wife, " oh, my god. " Sarah added as well looking over at Moon giving her the was she there the entire time look.

" ....you might help. " Ward finished his sentence as Moon didn't even realize she had completely cut her own father off, " Hi, in Sarah. I'm so so sorry. " Sarah put her hand out as Lana had when straight to Sarah first for a hand shake, she looked over at her dad as Moon put her hand out before locking hands with Lana shaking it firmly.

" this is Lana Grubbs, she's Scooters wife," he quickly introduced the poor women to the two young teen girls. " Sarah, weren't you storm prepping with him? " Moon turned her head so smoothly as her sister thought for a minute.

" yeah. " she paused looking at Moon before looking off at the water, " he helped me latch the cabin on the Druthers. " Moon listened carefully and quietly as she could tell this situation wasn't a good thing it was more of a bad thing.

" last night? " Sarah nodded her head, " and did he go out after that? " Ward was firing questions at her sister like a investigator, it was staring to make Moon a little nervous she couldn't stand still her feet kept swaying back and forth.

" from here? " Sarah furrowed her eyebrows, " yeah " , " no. Are you crazy? There was a hurricane. " Sarah's mouth was nearly dropped as Moons was somehow dropped as well, looking back at one another they both snapped their mouths shut when Lana began to spoke.

" well, did he say where he was going? " worry in her tone as she was staring at the dirty blonde in front of her, " get a phone call or mention anything? " her eyes locked on what seemed like Moon now who was oblivious as she was staring at her sister. " he didn't say anything to me. " a soft tone in her voice as she paused looking over at Moon.

" he didn't say anything to me either. " Moon mentioned hoping that would help out at all. " I'm so sorry. Is he okay? " Sarah looked towards there father as he had a hand placed on the women's back trying to lead her away, " I'm really sorry Lana. " Moons soft tone made Lana had a bit of a smile before it dropped again.

" thank you girls. " she nodded before following after Ward Cameron.

Moon looked towards her sister feeling really bad for Lana, " I wonder what happened to him. " she started to talk as Sarah nodded, " I hope he's okay and that they find him. " she nodded in agreement as the two went back to swatting at birds.

Moon walked down the beach on her side of the Outer Banks, it was pretty bad but she wasn't so sure if it could possibly be as bad as the other side of the Outer Banks.

She also had put on some yellow nicer looking sandals as she had no shoes on earlier in the morning when she ran out of her house, she inhaled breathing in the fresh air. Trees were knocked down, branches were snapped. Seaweed swarmed the beach that began to get picked up by the tide and dragged back into the sea.

She began putting her hair out of her up do as she brushed her fingers through it, she continued walking down a path as she could see the road that led to the other side of town. The sun was beginning to slowly go down, she thought about it for a moment.

If she should go to the other side and see how bad they got attacked by the storm, but as she took a step a pair of arms wrapped around her that made her scream and jump.

" babe chill it's just me. " Topper laughed as the girl turned around, " Jesus Top you scared me! " Moon shoved the man's chest that quickly grabbed her hand pulling her into a hug, " I'm sorry I didn't mean to. " she pulled away looking up at him as he had leaned down locking his lips with her, she kissed him back before pulling away.

" um so how bad is it at your place? " she asked, " why you wanna come over? " he had a grin plastered on his face, " no I'm just wondering. " she laughed tilting her head back, " it's not that bad a few trees fell. " Moon looked back down the road she was about to go on.

" so there's a party going on at the beach, it's hosted by John B. You know John B? " Topper had his hands on Moons waist now, " um yeah isn't he the like guy who hangs with the pogues, one with the brown hair and he seems like he's the leader or somewhat like that? " Moon rubbed her head as she felt like she worded that weirdly.

" yeah that's him, anyways wanna come with me? " he made that face with the charming smile that Moon could never say no to, she sighed as she hated any social event but she knew Topper would just make her go anyways. " yeah I guess let's go. She forced a bright smile.

She held hands with Topper as they made there way across the Outer Banks the two began to make a turn towards what seemed like the boneyard, " you didn't tell me the party was at the boneyard? " she turned her head looking up at her boyfriend.

" is that a problem? " he stopped feeling slightly bad that he didn't tell her where it was, " oh no, it's fine I've just never been to the boneyard I don't think. " she had a awkward laugh after.

" well there's a first for everything! " He kissed her forehead before walking across the boneyard, Moon wrapped her arm around Toppers arm as they walked as she didn't realize there would be so many people there.

It made her nervous but she built her confidence up and tried her best to ignore it, she smiled when she noticed a familiar face. " Moon! " it was Sarah, she quickly released herself from Toppers arm and jumped wrapping her arms around her sister, " I didn't think you would be here! " Moon had high hopes for this party knowing her sister was there.

" you look cute! " Moon backed away looking her sister up and down, " thank you, as so do you. " her sister laughed as Moon gave in with a laugh as well. They both knew the only thing Moon changed about her outfit since this morning was that she was actually wearing shoes this time.

Moon climbed up on top of a red thing that was slanted over, which was dangerous of course but did Moon care. Nope, she in fact did not. " Moon, please get down! " Sarah stood at the bottom holding it as if it were to fall. " Moon! Moon, be careful. Okay? Please! " Topper had his arm up for Moon to grab his hand to get down but she ignored his hand and just looked out to the ocean.

The ocean was one of Moons favourite places in the whole entire world, she always sat on the beach or looked out her window and it calmed her instantly.

" I'll be fine! " she spoke but as she said that she felt herself falling to the side and Topper quickly grabbed at her arm pulling her down from the other side, he wrapped his arms around her and swung her nicely down onto the ground.

She looked at him for a few moments before giving him a soft peck on the cheek, " I'm gonna get some drinks! " she smiled. " I'll come with. " Topper quickly spoke as she shook her head. " I wanna try and do things on my own Topper! I'll get you a drink, and Sarah? " she looked at her sister.

" I'm good actually, I'm gonna go walk with Kelce! " she looked over at the other boy who appeared out of nowhere before walking off with him.

Topper was left alone as Moon made her way through a crowd, " excuse me! " she said every 5 seconds as she squeezed her way through everyone. Until she made it up to the keg, " want a beer? " a man was holding up a red solo cup as he was the one working the keg.

" um yes please, two drinks. " she had her hands down the sides of her as he handed her drink to a blonde boy with a grey arm cut tang top on and a back pack on his back. There was a girl next to the middle one, the boy in the middle worse a backwoods hat and a scarf around his neck, he had hazel brown eyes as Moon had accidentally caught a glimpse of his eyes.

" oh, hey Moon. " the girl next to them was none other then Kiara Carrera, " oh, Kiara hey. " Moon formed a smiled on her face as Kiara didn't really smile, she knew why. It was because of Sarah, she nodded her head before looking over. " Moon Cameron right? " the blonde boy spoke handing her drink to her, " oh yeah, you are? " he cleared his throat, " JJ Maybank. " he held his hand out.

She looked around not knowing if she was meant to shake his hand or not, she grabbed a hold of his hand anyways shaking it. " and you are? " she turned her head making eye contact with the other man. " John B Routledge. " he had a smile on his face. " here's your drink. " he sighed.

" thanks, and cool party. " she turned around her back facing them as she could feel there eyes still on her, she made her way back towards where topper was sitting down on the sad.

" I'm sorry I kept you waiting, there was a line up. " she kind of lied about that but she didn't wanna tell him she was stuck having a slight conversation with JJ and John B or even Kiara.

She handed him the drink as he took it taking a swig out of it, " I'm glad you took me here. " she smiled. She was actually having a really great time at this party, " of course I'm glad your here with me. " Moon sat down next to him taking different swigs out of her drink.

It was now night it had gotten darker and Moon was still at the boneyard, she was shocked Ward hadn't been spamming her phone wondering on where she was.

She changed her spot with Topper they were now sitting on a log with Sarah as Kelce was off somewhere so she came back, Moon had her head on Toppers shoulder with his arm around her.

" come on. " Moon spoke grabbing a hold of Toppers hand, she was kind of starting to get drunk she drank more then she usually does since she drank the first drink with Topper, she had a lot more.

But she still wanted to go stand by the water and splash her feet in it, " oh wait, hold on a minute. Hey, hey! Moon! " Moon stopped turning her head to the blonde boy, John B stood next to him looking confused.

" can I interest you in a tasty Milwaukee beverage? " he had a funny tone in his voice which made Moon laugh a bit as she looked into the cup, " no, thanks I think I'm good JJ. " she stepped back shaking her head.

" awe, come on Moon is it not fancy enough anymore for you? " he had sadness in his voice as she sighed, " I just I've had enough to drink that's all. " she tried being as nice as she could.

" we were just leaving JJ. " Topper looked at her before suddenly having a change in his attitude? " hey, you know what? I'll take it. " he said proudly in a happy tone, " I'll— thank you, man. I appreciate it. " Moon stared at her feet as she felt a sudden headache hit her like a wave.

" that's nice, but I didn't ask you. " JJ explained to him, Moon could already tell this wasn't going well, she felt a pair of eyes on her as she was rubbing her head. It was throbbing so bad, she looked up seeing John B looking at her. He looked like he was worried for her, " if you said pretty please, maybe. " JJ got smart with him.

John B mouthed the words 'are you okay?' At her as she just nodded her head silently, she returned her eyesight back to her feet as the loud voices were making her head start to throb.

" —but you didn't. " JJ had a grin on his face, " —oh, pretty please. " Topper said in a cocky way as he was getting quite fed up. JJ ignored Topper returning his gaze to Moon, " Moon. " he spoke moving the cup up towards her as she raised her head up from looking at the ground.

" you can have it. " he smiled brightly, she really didn't wanna take it but she also really didn't wanna hurt JJ's feelings at all. As she was about to just grab it Topper smacked it right out of his hand, " she doesn't want it, you— " JJ threw himself at Topper grabbing the collar of his shirt, " JJ please let go of him! " Moon held her head.

She really didn't have time for fights, that's when John B stepped in and grabbed JJ pulling him away, " Topper can we go please! I don't feel good and I don't wanna be here. " Moon had almost tears forming in her eyes.

" your so funny man! " JJ yelled over John B's shoulder, John B was doing a good job at calming JJ down. She turned her head to Topper, " please, top— " she was cut off. " —Dirty Pogues! " he spoke in a shrill voice.

That's when John B suddenly threw himself at Topper shoving him, that's when Pope threw himself in trying to calm John B down, " -we're supposed to be incognito, remember! John b? " Pope backed away when suddenly Topper walked towards him. " babe, stop! " Moon yelled.

Topper threw his fist right at John B's face knocking him over with a grunt, Moon gasped as she covered her mouth. She looked around seeing eyes on her most were mainly eyes on Topper and John B.

JJ was about to run in but Pope began fighting him back pushing JJ back to stop him from joining in, " Topper stop this! " Moon screamed as Topper kicked John B rolling him into the water. " Hey, John B, don't make me drown you like your old man, all right? " Topper had a smirk plastered all over his face as if he was enjoying what he was doing to John B.

Moon walked over as she could not believe Topper had even just said that to John B, this was not the Topper that Moon knew at all. The crowed starting chanting as Topper kicked John B down into the water again.

" babe go other there! " Topper turned around as she was standing next to him, that's when suddenly John B ran at Topper from behind tackling him to the ground. Into the water, Kie and Pope were both getting fed up.

Moon couldn't blame them, she just wanted Topper to stop fighting and to be a more mature person at this time. " John B, come on stop this! Topper you too. " Moon yelled. As John B continued beating and beating on Topper as he would give the same energy back.

Moon went to grab at Topper but he ended up elbowing her right in the nose, she fell back on the ground as she felt a pain shooting threw her nose and a sudden liquid trickling down her mouth.

Her nose was bleeding, Topper had made her nose bleed a bloody mess.  Sarah had quickly ran to her, " Moon? " it was John B who sounded worried for her as he saw the blood dripping all over her dress and her legs and arms.

Topper had not even realized as he continued swinging at John B, John B re gained his focus and went back to fighting with Topper. " Topper stop! " Moon cried out.

Sarah had her arm wrapped around her sister as she sat on the sand with her, " someone get me a towel now! " she yelled as a few people ran off in search for one somewhere.

Her whole world felt dizzy the voices seemed to die out as if it sounded like she was underwater, " come on, Topper! John B screamed. Moon looked over seeing Topper in the water but she just threw her head back not even giving in anymore.

She snapped back into reality when suddenly Topper made John b do a near by back flip into the water, " oh no. " Moon threw her head forward, she knew this was not gonna be good the second the two of them were in the water again.

Moon got up quick as she could see the man getting completely drowned by Topper? " Topper, Topper fucking stop that! " Moon screamed, Sarah was holding her back as she was trying to get her sister to sit down because she had blood everywhere.

" Topper Thornton, please! Fucking stop this, stop your gonna kill him! " Moon had a lump in her throat as she didn't want her boyfriend to be in jail for murder and she didn't want John B to loose his life at his own party.

" Topper! " Sarah screamed, " all of you fucking stop chanting! What the fuck is wrong with you all. " Moon looked around at everyone but they ignored the girl completely as they continued chanting on.

Suddenly the blonde boy walked up to Topper anger was spread all over his face expression as he pulled out a gun, pressing it right against Toppers head. " JJ! " Moon yelled, " yeah, you know what that is. " JJ had it pressed hard against his head.

" your move, broski. " everyone began running out of the boneyard screaming about how JJ had a gun, " JJ, please! JJ stop this! " she gulped taking slow steps towards the blonde, " did you say something princess? " JJ looked at her making eye contact with her before looking back down at her boyfriend.

" put the fucking gun down! " she had her hand up, Topper began raising his hands as his heart was beating fast. " we're good, " we're good! " he reassured before falling down onto the ground, Sarah had panic in her voice as she was still standing by her sister, " kie, can you check your psycho friend please! " . " —okay, everyone, listen up! Get the hell off our side of the island! " JJ raised the gun to the air before firing a bullet twice.

The gunshots ringing in her ear as she covered her ears, Topper grabbed her arm as he started sprinting. She looked back towards the water where John B was, his body suddenly fell back into the water. " John B?! " Moon spoke but Topper gripped onto her wrist more and began running now. " leave him Moon! I'm taking you and your sister home! "

That was Moons first boneyard patty and that was definitely gonna be her last.
