panic attacks, anxiety, Topper Thornton.

Sounds of groans echoed in the gym as three boys were each taking turns spotting one another on each of the different workout equipments that the Thorntons owned. One being Rafe Cameron, " where even is my sister? " he paused. " I thought she stayed the night here Top. " he tilted his head watching as the man lifted the barbell above his head before resting it down.

" oh she's here don't worry. " Topper had a smile forming on his face, " she's just sleeping still I thought I should let her sleep in. " he had a soft tone in his voice, " now how long has it been exactly for you guys? " Kelce was in the middle of tightening the lid on his water bottle but was curious to know how long the two love birds have been together for as it had seemed like it's been decades since Topper Thornton asked Moon Cameron out.

" 3 years, I'm planning on marrying that girl I swear. " he proudly said with a proud smile plastered across his face, that's when Rafe had made a weird face. " what? " Topper had a firm tone when he noticed the Cameron boys sudden change in his face. " nothing, I hope you know I still meant what I said the first time you asked her out. "  he had his hand suddenly planted on the dirty blonde boys shoulder.

" and that was..? " his voice question as Rafe had began to chuckle and shake his head, " that if you hurt her I will hurt you. " he gave Toppers shoulder a slight squeeze before letting go and turning his head the second the door opened.

A tired looking girl had stepped outside of the house and into the workout space blinking as she wasn't expecting two other people besides Topper to be dripping in sweat all staring at her as if they had just seen a ghost.

" what? " she turned around to look behind her thinking there was something behind her, she turned around feeling a slight relief when there had been nothing behind her.

" hey Moon. " Rafe nodded his head as Moon had a smile on her face seeing her older brother, " hi Rafe. " Moon turned her head over to where Kelce was standing, " Kelce. " she nodded with a smile and a slight little wave added.

" Top where's my purse? " Moon was fiddling with her fingers as even tho it was just Kelce and her brother she did still get nervous with more than one person around. " It should be next to my bed is it not? " Topper had a slight pout on his lip feeling slightly confused.

" well it's not. " she crossed her arms over her chest as she had her one leg crossed over her other as she stood in the doorway, " I'll be there in a second babe. " he had a smile on his face as Moon nodded before waving bye to Rafe and Kelce as she entered the house again closing the door behind her.

She made her way back to Toppers bedroom as she plopped herself down on the end of the bed, a few minutes after that Topper had lightly knocked on the bedroom door before entering it a smile on his face the second he made eye contact with the girl.

" is this what you were looking for? " he held up a white purse that had a gold chain dangling from it, she couldn't help but form a laugh at how dumb she was for not being able to find it.

" yes that is what I was looking for. " she stood up as she walked over to the bathroom, she already had on a pair of denim shorts and a striped white and blue pastel t - shirt that was a crop top.

Her blonde hair was curls as she had curled it earlier before confronting Topper about where her purse could be, she suddenly felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist as she was applying mascara to her eyelashes after curling them perfectly.

" where are you off to that your getting ready? " Topper mumbled as he planted small kisses against Moons left cheek, " just shopping with Sarah. " she turned her head slightly to the left as she puckered her lips where Topper had given her a soft kiss.

" we'll tell your sister I say hello. " he smiled as he gave Moon one last kiss before placing her purse on the counter, " I love you Moon. " he stated as he stood in the doorway of the bathroom still, " I love you Top. " her cheeks started to get flustered as Topper turned around as he left hearing the door close behind him.

A couple hours had passed as the two Cameron sisters had gone to nearly every store, Moon only had two bags from this popular boutique she went into where she bought a few cute summer dresses along with a midsummers dress.

Midsummers was one of Moons favourite times, Topper has walked Moon out every midsummers for the past 3 years. She always managed to have fun with him and everyone else invited, it was really the only social event Moon didn't get nervous at.

" happy with your purchases? " Sarah happily smiled as Moon pushed her hair behind her ear before looking down at the two bags she carried under her left arm, " oh yes definitely! " the girls smile brightened. " and you? " she looked down at the bags Sarah carried as she drank her water.

" oh of course, did you see the things I bought! " the two giggled as they walked down the sidewalk. Sharing different thoughts and stories each step they took.

That was until suddenly both the girls phones started going off, confused faces took over the two girls as Moon lifted her phone up. " Hurricane Agatha. "

Sarah turned her head slowly as Moon had noticed that the wind did start to pick up but she didn't think anything of it, " call dad! " Sarah yelled as Ward was the one that dropped the girls off to go shopping. " no, I'm calling Rafe he's 100% closer to us then dad! " Moon hit the call button as she covered her other ear from the wind to be able to hear.

The call rang for about 12 seconds before Rafe finally picked up, " I'm coming don't worry. " Moon could hear the engine of the vehicle as if Rafe was already driving out of the driveway to come get them. " thank you! " she yelled.

The moment Moon stepped through the front door with Rafe and Sarah, the power had gone out and rain was pouring hard outside. " it's a good thing we got in now! " she spoke cheerfully trying to calm herself knowing that the second she gets into her room she's gonna have a full blown panic attack.

" oh thank god you guys made it home! " a older blonde women was walking down the stairs in a red dress that went down to her knees, her hand gently placed on her chest. " yeah, it's a good thing we did! " Moon replied following with some laughter behind her as Rafe and Sarah disappeared down the hallway.

She turned her head back to the women that stood in front of her, " how are you feeling moonshine? " a older man with a scratchy beard came walking from the kitchen with a flashlight in his hand, " so far so good. " the younger teen took a deep breath before taking the flashlight from her father.

" we aren't gonna die Moon! " he laughed as he scratched his chin watching the young blonde walk up the stairs, she turned her head as she placed a hand on the railing. " yeah I know dad, I'm a survivor! " she said in a jokingly way as she continued her journey up the stairs.

As she opened the door to her bedroom a gust of wind nearly took her out, she grabbed onto the doorframe as she again had left her big window wide open in her bedroom. " shit! " she quickly ran to the window as the wind had slammed her bedroom door shut behind her.

Her arms moving frantically as she tried to shut the bedroom window, just as she tied the window shut she sat down on her bedroom floor and took a deep breath. The storm had gotten way worse than when she was in the car with her siblings.

She felt as if her heart was trying to escape her chest, quickly placing her hand against her chest as she could sense the panic attack already coming to attack her.

Her eyes began to water as she felt the pains in her chest every breath she took, struggling to breathe as the wind blew bigger and bigger. She felt unsafe, anytime she felt unsafe the panic attacks would get to her.

She could hear the sounds of trees snapping following with the sounds of thunks as the trees would fall hitting the ground just outside her bedroom window.

Her bedroom door suddenly opened as a familiar face peeked through the door, " Moon? " it was Rafe. He closed the door behind him and walked quickly towards the girl that sat against the wall in tears, her legs bouncing in fear.

" deep breaths. " his voice was calm as he had gently placed his hand on one of her knees to help stop the shaking, she listened as she would inhale slowly doing as he said. Exhaling slowly before starting to wipe her own tears away.

" I'll stay in here until it passes. " he reassured her as she looked at him still having her hand to her chest, " thanks Rafe. " her voice still had slight cracks from the tears that were flowing down her face.

Rafe had removed his hand off of his sisters knee before getting up slowly as he would check out the window before looking back down at the girl, " let's go get a lighter. " Rafe suggested as he looked at Moons collection of scented candles that were placed neatly in organized spots around her bedroom.

" okay. " she mumbled grabbing a hold of Rafe's hand as he lifted her up onto her feet. It took her a second to get her breathing back to normal before she was able to follow Rafe out the door and to the kitchen.

" she's okay now. " Rafe spoke to Ward who was sitting at the island with a newspaper in his hand, flipping through the pages with a flashlight in his other hand. He also had his reading glasses on, " that's good. " Ward replied not looking up from the newspaper that was glued to his fingers.

Moon didn't say a word to her dad the second she stepped into the kitchen, she never really spoke to anyone during times like this besides Rafe. He was easy to talk to, he was pretty much the only family member who truly understood her.

They've been close like that ever since the day Moon was born and Rafe got to hold her for the first time in the hospital.

" here we go Moon, lighters for your scented candles. " Rafe teased as he handed her the lighter, she quickly snatched it from him shaking her head slightly with a laugh following.

" I'm gonna get some snacks and water as well! " an excited tone was suddenly in her voice, the thought of being able to light her candles and eat good snacks and then fall asleep just made her feel so much better. Almost made her forget there was even a hurricane going on.

Moon had entered her room with her hands filled to the brim with bags of snacks and drinks, " Rose is gonna kill me when she finds out I have all this in my room! " Moon happily skipped to her bed where she placed her basket of snacks neatly on the end of the bed.

" eh she can suck it up. " Rafe followed through the doorway closing the door behind him as he handed Moon the lighter before sitting down at the end of her bed. " thank you sir. " she nodded her head in a kind way.

She began making her way to every candle she owned as she lifted each lid off placing them neatly next to the candle that belonged to them, just as she connected the flame of the lighter to the candle.

She placed the lighter down next to the last candle she lit turning around as she saw Rafe had his face shoved into a bag of all dressed chips, licking the tip of his fingers as he looked back at the girl that stared at him with her eyebrows raised.

She snatched the bag from him seeing that half the bag was already down the drain, " Rafe! " she complained grabbing one of the only full chips left out of the bag before tossing it into her mouth, " slow poke! " he teased.

She sat at the end of the bed as well before taking a large chapter book out, It was a book on the history of the outer banks. She found it in her dads office a week ago and she's been reading it ever since, it's a good thing Ward hasn't come looking for it yet. Because she wasn't sure if it was important or not to him.

It talked about the royal merchant for a couple chapters, then showed pictures of gold and treasure, she had found it really fascinating to her. She couldn't pick out why tho.

" alright I love you but if your gonna be reading all night I'm going to bed. " Rafe commented as he got up walking out of the bedroom, he of course left the door open behind him.

Moon scoffed as she closed the book, getting up as she walked towards the door and closed it. Turning around as she would walk towards the window the book in her right hand.

She had hoped the hurricane would pass through a little faster. But I guess Agatha's taking her sweet old time like the usual.

I hope you guys enjoyed the first chapter, it's not the best but I tried my hardest on it. I'm trying to improve on my writing!
