in her life. She had joined to get whatever inter-dimensional watch Miguel had owned in order to see Love again.
So why was she shocked when she was seeing her right in front of her eyes.
Love stood back faced to her, rocking back and forth on the balls of the feet, neck craned up whilst she listened to Peter Parker variant speak to her.
She should just walk up to her, tap her shoulder, greet her, hug her, something. But all she can do is watch.
Watch her fiddle with her fingers nervously behind her back, watch her face occasionally nod in acknowledgement at the taller man's words.
What was she even supposed to say?
Hello didn't feel like enough.
Unfortunately for her, she didn't get time to curate a response because the second she took a step closer, Love had whipped her head around.
"Gwen?"
Her voice was lace with pure confusion and shock, she grinned widely, turning around and running towards the older girl.
She wasn't sure how to react. Did she stand there and let her hug her, did she catch her, did she open her arms?
Love gave her no time to react as she leapt into Gwen's arms, her arms wrapping around her neck. Gwen quickly adjusted, holding the girl up by her thighs.
"Good to see you too Love." She smiled, Love beamed. "You got recruited! I've been waiting for this day. I opted to do it sooner but Miguel said no because he sucks." Love rambled on mindlessly.
Gwen watched in adoration as she continued to ramble on and on, unaware of her burning gaze. "-But now you're here! You're going to love it here. You have to meet Hobie and Pav and Poppy and Isla and Peter and Peter and Peter and Jessica and Jessica and Peter-" "Slow your roll sunshine." Gwen placed the girl on the ground.
"I just got here, we have plenty of time for all of that. In the meantime, why don't you show me around?" Love nodded, her smile not once leaving her face.
Honestly, Gwen wasn't sure why she was so nervous. It was just Love after all.
𝐆𝐖𝐄𝐍 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐖𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆.
Maybe Love was just a touchy person, maybe she was doing it on purpose. Who knows? And who cares, finding out why was the least of her problems.
What she needed to focus on was whatever the hell Love was saying instead of her hand holding hers.
"And this would be MedBay, I'm here often."
Love dragged the older girl into the room, smile never leaving her face. Gwen smirked, "You get hurt often?" "Nah, Peter does though." Love blinked slowly at the sight in front of her.
"And her apparently," her tone laced with confusion. Gwen's eyes followed to where the younger girl was pointing. There once again was Poppy.
God was she pretty. "Hi, Hobie!" Love waved, a tall lanky man, dressed from head to toe in spikes, leather and various mixed media accessories sat on a chair next to a hospital bed. His whole aura screamed badass.
On the bed next to him was the angel herself, sat upright as she painted her nails. "Sup Love." He waved, "This the lass from 65?" His accent thick and smooth. Love nodded. "Gwen, Hobie. Hobie, Gwen. Gwen, Poppy, Poppy, Gwen." She pointed her green painted finger nail back and forth between them.
"We've met." Poppy smiled, "How you doin? You liking the tour?" Gwen's cheeks flushed, "I'm- Me? Yes , yes I am."
Love smirked, standing on her tiptoes to whisper in the blonde girls ear. "Don't worry she has that effect on everyone, it'll wear off." Her breath tickled her neck, causing her to shiver.
"Love talks about you all the time. You look exactly like her drawings." Poppy teased, a flush rose to Love's cheeks as she began to rock on the balls of her feet. "She's all smitten for you, aren't y'a darling?" Hobie ruffled her hair. Love's piercing brown eyes looked up at her, the intensity of her stare caused a flush to rise to her cheeks.
"You and that youngun from 1610." Gwen perked up at this, "Miles?" Love nodded, "Have you been able to visit him?" Love shook her head.
"Miguel said no, it's forbidden." "But why-" "Gwen, there's plenty of time to explain later." Poppy cut her off, "Tell us about yourself," a sweet smile painted her features.
Gwen began to stutter nervously, Hobie beamed at this, bending down to whisper in her ear, "She's fit ain't she? Pretty little thing." She wasn't sure how to respond.
"This feels like a trap." She whispered to the Korean girl. "It is." She responded.
"You do ballet?" Poppy questioned, eyeing the girls shoes, Gwen shrugged. "I did dance." "Same! You must be very nimble then." Gwen smiled, "I mean I would say so." The dark skinned girl nodded, letting out a small yawn. She leaned her head back in her pillow but before she could close her eyes, Hobie had clapped his hands together, the size causing all three of them to jump.
"You can't sleep dovey, gotta stay awake cuz of your concussion." Hobie kneeled next to her, cupping her face in his hand.
"No lemme sleep." Poppy mumbled, groggily. Love turned to the taller blonde girl. "Let's finish the tour."
The door shut behind them and Gwen asked the question that was plaguing her mind. "Are they dating?"
"No."
LOVE SPEAKS!
Sorry for crappy writing. If y'all know a better song that fits the chapter, please tell me, I picked this one because I wasn't sure what to do. Most of this book actually makes no sense if you read it as a stand alone. It's not a stand alone, you don't have to read Dead to Me but at least go read Killshot to understand. None of these books are meant to be read on their own. Not proofread.
