I tried not to stare but it was hard not to. Yesterday, he was a boy and now he was a girl. It was an odd change and I didn't know what to say to make the situation better. Tip was sitting across from me now as Jack nervously busied himself stamping out the fire.

"Tip, you made your mind up?" he asked her.

When she didn't answer, he walked over to her and knelt down in the dirt, pushing her lightly on the knee.

"Tip!" he called again, "Have you decided what you want to do?"

"You mean about waking up a girl? I don't know. Is there something I can do? If there is, then please tell me..." she said in distress.

He picked himself up off the ground then.

"Do you want to turn around and go home?" he asked, "'Cause we will,"

Tip's tear-streaked face glanced up at him before shaking her head, "No,"

"Then we go to Ev. We'll find more medicine. Whatever happened, we'll fix it," he said softly, the light breeze blowing brown curls across his forehead.

I smiled at his kindness towards his friend and tried to ignore the spark of jealousy that rose inside of me.

"We'll turn you back to you..." he finished.

She nodded once and Jack glanced over to me, misty gray eyes meeting my chocolate-brown ones.

"Will you go with us?" he asked me hopefully.

I grinned before biting my lip, bobbing my head up and down.

"I don't have anything better to do. Besides, if we go into town...I might have a better chance of reuniting with my sister." I told him.

He smiled happily at me and we all began to gather up our belongings. It was going to be a long journey.
