Originally he was planning on cooking something for himself only. But then the other three started nagging about how they were hungry and how 'good their favorite hyung could cook'. Sometimes he wondered if perhaps the other dorm would be better for his nerves. Although upon thinking of the combination of Changbin and Chan he brushed off that thought.
It didn't stop there though. Because suddenly Felix was insisting on Hyunjin coming over too.
Minho didn't think much of it. It was a good idea. 3RACHA was probably stuffing that guy with chicken and rice. And one more person to feed shouldn't be too difficult.
But being the one who had to text Hyunjin was.. awkward. So awkward.
Hyunjin-ah
Dinner. Come over. >
< What?
Aren't you hungry? >
I said come over. >
I made dinner. >
< I'll be there in 5
See you >

Well, that was kind of awkward. At least Hyunjin didn't reject his offer and would actually come over to have dinner with them. That'd be nice. Minho could get used to seeing Hyunjin outside of working hours. Maybe they'd be able to get even closer?
He'd be satisfied with just befriending Hyunjin. Although he did basically confess to him. He had no idea where he got that confidence from. But ever since then they have not talked together, so perhaps that was why their little conversation over the phone ended up feeling off.
What if Hyunjin was planning on rejecting him? He'd be.. He'd be fine with it. If Hyunjin didn't feel the same, then that was alright. He could live with that. As long as the other knew there was someone who loved him for who he was and not just for his looks. Hyunjin was so much more than that.
It really didn't take long for Hyunjin to get there. Minho didn't open the door for him though, Felix was much faster and he was busy with the food anyway. Thankfully Jeongin had accepted his fate and set the table with Seungmin's help. Like that they were finished rather quickly and could finally eat.
"What about the other three? Are we just letting them starve?", Jeongin asked curiously and Hyunjin shook his head. "Don't worry, they're having dinner already. But I seriously can't see chicken anymore", he joked and chuckled. Minho too couldn't help but smile at the sight. His crescent-like eyes never failed to bring a smile to his face.
Unfortunately Felix noticed and moved his eyebrows in a suggestive way, to which Minho could only roll his eyes. Felix had definitely seen too much. He probably had gotten the wrong idea too. There was nothing between him and Hyunjin. He had just tried to cheer him up, that was all. After all someone had to be there for him. He'd gladly do that.
But when he looked at Hyunjin instead, he was met with his eyes. The eye contact was rather.. awkward. But the other smiled, as if nothing had happened the day before. As if that letter he wrote didn't exist. Maybe he hadn't seen it?
Or was he trying to stay nice before officially rejecting him once they were alone? Yeah that was probably the case. Anything else wouldn't really make sense now, would it?
"The food's good, Hyung. Thank you for inviting me over", Hyunjin spoke in a soft tone to which Minho's ears heated up. Before he could reply, Felix took a hold of them and pulled. "Now look at you, getting all flustered. Don't you think he looks just adorable, Hyunjin?"
While Jeongin had no idea where that teasing came from, Seungmin too seemed to be enjoying it and even put his arm around Minho's shoulder. "Yeah, he'd make a great husband, wouldn't he?"
And Minho's face was bright red by that point. Oh, someone had to save him. Jeongin was the last sane one in the room. Or was he?
"Hyunjin, you should totally sleep over today. I can always hear your name coming from Hyung's room. Surely he misses you so much."
Okay, Jeongin was no longer sane. And he was no longer a maknae in his eyes.
Felix' and Seungmin's eyes widened at that. And Hyunjin's face was just as red as Minho's. "I promise it's not true, Jeongin is just coming up with shit now!"
He didn't know how to feel when Hyunjin simply started laughing. He laughed. Just what was that supposed to mean? Was that a good or a bad sign? Either way, that was much better than Hyunjin suddenly feeling uncomfortable around him. He'd hate that. After all what Jeongin said was not true.. just where did that dirtiness come from? He should definitely have a talk with Seungmin, probably even Felix.
"It's okay, Hyung. I'd love to stay, but I don't think it'd work out today. I'll definitely make sure to sleep over another time this week."
Well that was a promise, wasn't it? Maybe that meant he'd get to hold Hyunjin in his arms again. How much he'd love that. Nothing had made him feel as much at ease as sleeping next to Hyunjin has. When he was with him, there was nothing that Minho had to worry about. He had his everything, he had his moon. That was all what mattered. "Another time it is then."
And when he thought about that little sleepover, he was thinking about it being just him and Hyunjin, cuddled up in his bed and sharing their body warmth, but clearly Felix didn't think so. "You know what would be even better? If we'd invite everyone over and have a big sleepover! That'd be fun for sure. And I know the others are up for it as well."
But was Minho up for it? Not really. He'd much prefer being alone with Hyunjin, where no one could interrupt them and listen to their private conversations. It was supposed to stay just between the two of them, no one else was supposed to listen to the words that came out of Minho's mouth. They were said with so much love and care. And most importantly they were said for Hyunjin alone, no one else. It was special after all.
"I think that's a nice idea, I'll ask the other's if they're up for it later. But like you said, they'd love that idea a lot." So Hyunjin agreed with Felix? Now he had to do so as well. "I can cook something."
Seungmin raised his eyebrows. "I'm sure you don't have to so all of that to impress Hyunjin, Hyung." The brown haired male chuckled while the eldest in the room rolled with his eyes. "Do you guys want to starve or something? I'm over here offering you guys a home-cooked meal instead of some boring pizza you could eat every single day."
And silence. It seemed to be as easy as that. Minho knew they'd definitely prefer his cooking, simply because it was usually better than some take-out. And he put so much effort into it, when he knew Hyunjin would eat it too. He wanted him to like it after all.
Felix sighed as he stood up and stacked the empty plates. "I'll do the rest. Hyunjin should go soon, if he doesn't want Chan to end up calling him." Minho nodded and so did the others. "I'll bring him to the door."
And the eldest did just that. Quietly he walked next to Hyunjin. Of course it wasn't exactly necessary, but it was a nice thing to do. Like that they also had a few more minutes alone, without the other three interrupting them and making comments.
"I hope you liked the food. Let us know once you're in your dorm." "Minho, it's in the same building." Hyunjin chuckled and Minho smiled as well. "You never know."
Right then and there the tension between them was intense. It was so tempting to just lean in and finally connect their lips. They belonged together. They were made for each other. Nobody was around, he really could have just grabbed Hyunjin by his waist and kissed him. But he didn't. He couldn't. The tension was there, but the right time wasn't.
Apparently he got so lost in the other's eyes, he didn't notice a piece of paper being placed on his hand. "Read it once you're alone. Okay?" "Huh?" Minho was confused. Was that perhaps a reply to his poem? So Hyunjin did know?
He couldn't even ask, because he suddenly felt a pair of soft lips.. right against his cheek.
"I'll see you at practice tomorrow."
Minho couldn't even react or reply, he just had his hand right on the spot Hyunjin had kissed. While he looked to be satisfied with himself. Before he could wish him a good night, the other had already left. But the elder did see the slight hint of pink on Hyunjin's cheeks. Adorable. He was just too cute.
Though he could think about that while finally reading what had been written for him.
Quickly he rushed to his own room, properly closing the door and sitting down on his chair, to open the envelope and read the words within.
It made his heart ache.
Was Hyunjin rejecting him? Was he saying they weren't meant to be?
Surely not. Maybe he just needed to prove that there was a chance, that they could be together. And that they truly were made for one another. Minho could not imagine ever looking at someone the way he looked at Hyunjin, his one and only.
Should be write a reply? That was probably a good idea. Although.. how was he gonna make it sound pretty and elegant, just how Hyunjin always did? Writing a poem better than him was difficult. After all that man spent hours on reading poems before sleeping each night. It was just too cute.
Of course it'd be easy to look a poem up online, maybe even ask one of the members for help, but he wouldn't. He wanted to write it all by himself, Hyunjin needed to see the effort he put into making him feel better, making him believe again.
A couple attempts later and his patience was running low. "I hate all of this", he groaned and let his pen drop. It was way too difficult. Maybe he should take a look at Hyunjin's letter once again?
But it didn't help. Poems have never been his thing. The first one he wrote took him multiple hours. For some reason it was much harder now. Yet he'd try, he'd do his best.
Although.. nothing sounded good enough. Until he exhaled and let the pen write down his thoughts, feelings and emotions.
"So let that place be just right here,
Don't leave your star behind,
For it would be so lonely,
Without his moon tonight.
I will keep my lips sealed,
Our secret locked deep inside,
Please don't make me wait for another lifetime,
Where my moon can finally be mine.
Let that time be just right now.
As for not even the sun can separate moon and star for a lifetime."
Minho hated it. It sounded bad, it probably wasn't even a proper poem. But it was for Hyunjin. Surely he'd love it either way..
Another glance at Hyunjin's letter for him and he had discovered something new β the poem was written on the sketch of a flower. A beautiful flower at that. How had he not noticed that before? He wished he knew what kind of flower that was. Maybe it was Hyunjin's favorite? Everyone knew he loved the scent of flowers, maybe that one specifically smelled really good? He'd have to get them for him at some point.
But at first he had to seal the letter inside another envelope, but only after putting the poem he received into a small box kept in one of his drawers. No one would check there. Though he still should get a lock, just in case. He wouldn't want anyone reading something Hyunjin had written for him. It was special.
The letter would probably find his way into Hyunjin's room somehow, eventually. Just not yet. He needed some time, to not come off as desperate.
Although that was when his phone rang. A message.
From Hyunjin?!
Hyunjin-ah
