βŠΉβ‚Š ⋆ ASDID BLACK WAS NOTHING BUT DAMNED.
From the second she was born, she was nothing but. The Black family was a well known family in the witch community, they were known for many things, their power being number one. Every female in the family was born with magic running through their veins, and they had until their eighteenth birthday to show signs of magic, if they didn't? They would be banished and stripped of the family name. Most witches tapped into their power by the time they hit puberty, some earlier, some later, but rhoughly that time. When Asdrid was five years old she showed her first signs, but it was nothing that her family wanted to see.

You see, Their was a reason people thought the Black family was so special, yes they were witches, but they were a different kind. Their magic was visible. Blue meant pure and traditional, which was used by the coven. Purple meant dark and tainted, purple magic was something the coven would not tolerate, and would often end in death. Red, now red was something completely different, it was never seen before, not even heard about, until the day of Astrid's birth. The witches heard a prophecy of a girl born on the tenth month who could destroy the world with power inside of her, she would be recognised by her chaos magic and they would call her the Scarlett Witch.

Five years old was a very young age to tap into your magic, anyone that young wouldn't be able to control it and it would take a lot of patience from their coven for them to finally master the mystical arts. But for Astrid, her power was nothing like her mother had ever seen, she had no idea how to help Asdrid control it, and if the coven found out, she would most likely be killed, it was a witches job to maintain balance afterall, and if the prophecy was true, and Astrid reached her full potential... So Asdrid's mother, Revna, made her a bracelet, that would weaken her powers to the point of no use. And it stayed like that for seventeen years, because Revna would rather the coven look at her daughter in disgust for not having her magic yet, than burn her alive.

Revna Black's plan worked, for a while anyway. No one, including Asdrid, suspected the young girl of having magical abilities just yet, but when Asdrid's eighteenth birthday grew closer, the Black coven began preparing for yet another death in their coven. Revna's was determained to stop the covens plans. She'd be damned if she was made to watch as grown women tied her seventeen year old daughter to a tree and burned her alive and for what? For not having magical abilities? It was ridiculous. So she did something, someone that she knew would get her killed, but she hoped she would have saved her daughter by then.

One late night at 3am, once Asdrid was sound asleep, Revna sneaked around her village until she was deep within the woods and away from prying eyes. Asdrid has been eighteen for two hours already, and the burning could happen the next night. Once she got far enough away, she placed down a circle of candles and sat in the middle. Blue energy appeared from her hands as she levitated from the ground, she lifted a hand, summoning a book and sitting it down on the ground in front of her, waving her hand until she found the page she needed. With a deep sigh she closed her eyes, and began muttering the spell quietly. The further into the spell she went, the more power she felt, by now the blue energy had darkened, black smoke could be seen floated around it.

Suddenly the flames from the candles around her were blown out, and Revna levitated back to the ground, she didn't dare open her eyes, not until she heard a twig snap from the distance. Her eyes pierced open, the once bright blue magic had turned a dark, tainted purple, but that was the least of her concerns. She had been caught.

Her coven surrounded her from all angles, dressed in long black clockes, the hoods were up covering their faces, but Revna didn't need to see them to know who they were. They grabbed ahold of her from behind, dragging her through the woods and back to their village. As soon as the familiar tree came into view, Revna knew what was going to happen.

"Revna Black," her mother, Evanorra began as her coven used their magic to bound Revna to the three trunk. "Are you a witch?"

"Yes," Revna replied, attempting to keep her voice steady. "I am a witch."

"Yet you have betrayed your coven," stated Evanorra. "I have not!" Revna attempted to deny, though deep down, she knew it was pointless. "You stole knowledge from the book of the damned, your magic is no longer pure. You've practiced the darkest of magic. You are taunted."

The Black coven started chanting, blue magic appeared from their hands like Revna's did only an hours prior. "Wait!" Revna yelled. "I was just trying to save my daughter! I am pure! Please," she looked desperately at Evanorra. "Mother, don't do this to us!"

Her mother looked back at her, no sense of guilt or sadness in her eyes as she too began chanting. Once Evanorra joined in on the spell, the coven shot their hands forward, the blue magic shooting from their palms and towards Revna. The women screamed in pain as the beams of magic hit her in all directions. "You and your daughter have disappointed this coven for the last time, you'll be dead, and soon your daughter will follow."

Evandorra's words only fueld Revna's power, her screams turned from screams of pain to screams of anger, and suddenly the blue magic that was being pushed into her, turned purple, and the pain stopped. The girls began chocking, their skin turning dark and grey as though the life was being drained from them. Power rushed through Revna's body for a moment before Evanorra shot her own magic towards her.

Asdrid gasped awake with a sudden feeling rushing through her, looking around for her mother, nothing she was nowhere in sight. She opened the door of her home, the streets were empty, but that was expected for being four in the morning, thin layers of fog moved across the concrete ground, and the flames from the torches that dimly lit up the streets flickered from the wind, she was about to head back in and go back to sleep when she heard a scream from the distance.

She debated wether to go or not, her mother had always kept her from talking to the people in the village, and she'd be going against her wishes if she went after the noise, but something in her head told her she needed too. So she grabbed her cloak, looking around for her shoes but it was too dark to see, so when another scream came from the woods, she took off running, forgetting her shoes behind.

Out of nowhere the screams stopped, Asdrid only grew more worried at the silence, her bare feet crunching the October leaves as she picked up her place.

As she turned a corner she came to her destination. Light smoke blew from the torches, indicating that they had recentlyΒ  been out out, times like this she wished she had magic, because she couldn't see a single thing.

She suddenly yelped as she tripped over something, landing on her knees. She crawled over to the thing she tripped over, gasping at the sight. Her grandmother, laying on the ground, her wide eyes looking lifelessly up at her. Asdrid covered her mouth as she let out a sob, turning away from the dead body only to be met with another.

She crawled backwards away from the sight, not stopping until her back hit a tree trunk. She now recognised where she was, and she recognised the three. Something the Black family did was, whenever they killed a memeber of their coven, they made the rest of the coven watch, regardless of the age. Asdrid supposed it was to scare them, if they seen what happened to people who did those things, they wouldn't make the same mistake, it worked, most of the time. It was also the place she was supposed to be burned in a few hours, but now with her grandmother dead, she wasn't sure what would happen.

A small glistening reflection caught her eye, she reached over for the object, picking it up and looking at it in her hands. Her eyes widened, a gasp left her mouth as she chocked back another sob. Her mothers pendant, it was a piece of jewellery she never seen not around her mothers neck, according to Revna, it was given to her by Erik, Asdrid's father. Her mother never took it off, not unless she was forced.

It didn't take a genius to figure out what happened, Asdrid just wasn't sure why? What did her mother do to be on trial. Why is only her pendant left. . Why was were her coven also dead.

And why did she feel a sudden rush of power overtake her.
