October 30th, 1984

Beth woke up to alarm clock beeping loud. She groaned and hit the top of it to turn it off.

She slowly got out of bed and went to the bathroom to brush her teeth. Once she did that she brushed her brunette hair before putting a headband to hold it in place. Beth put on a purple top and some high rise jeans, she then grabbed her shoes and slipped them on while walking downstairs.

She saw her parents sitting at the table. Her mother was drinking coffee while her dad was looking at the newspaper.

"Beth, let's go! You can't be late for your first day, especially me." Her brother's voice called from the other side of the house. "Coming!" She called back before grabbing an apple from a basket on the counter. She then grabbed her backpack and ran out the door to meet her brother.

"You're very slow you know." Brandon said as his sister got in the car.

"Just drive, dingus." Beth laughed.

He drove off and a few minutes later they arrived at school. Brandon had pulled up to the high school and Beth got out the car.

"See you later little sis!" Brandon called out. The girl did a salute and walked off.

Beth arrived at the middle school and walked to the principal office as a bunch of kids stared at her.

She walked in and saw the principal who greeted her. Beth then turned her head to see a girl sitting on a chair, she was beautiful. Her hair was a ginger color and she had blue eyes. Beth snapped out of her trance when the principal told both girls to follow him to their class.

They arrived at a classroom with a teacher named Mr. Clarke.

"Ah, this must be our new students." Mr. Clarke turned to the girls.

"Indeed. All yours." The principal said before walking out. Beth and the ginger haired girl were walking away from the front when the teacher stopped them.

"All right. Hold up. You don't get away that easy. Come on up. Don't be shy." Mr. Clarke stopped them making both girls roll their eyes.

"Dustin, drum roll." The teacher said to a curly haired boy wearing a baseball cap, sitting in the front. Dustin started a drum roll.

"Class, please welcome, all the way from sunny California and Florida, the latest passengers on a curiosity voyage, Maxine and Bethany."

Both girls said a sentence at the same time.

"Sorry?" The teacher asked.

"Nobody calls me Maxine. It's Max." The ginger haired girl responded.

"Same thing. Nobody calls me Bethany. I go by Beth." Beth gave a fake smile.

"Mad Max and Princess Beth." Beth heard another boy whisper to three other boys.

"Well, all aboard, Max and Beth." The teacher said before both girls walked to desk that were next to each other. Beth looked over to the four boys to see them starting at her and the Max girl. She gave them a look before they looked away embarrassed.

After class, Beth saw the girl from class skating around on her skateboard. She decided to go up to the girl and introduced herself.

Beth walked up to the girl, who looked over and got off her skateboard before picking it up.

"Hi. I, um, noticed you were new too, so I thought maybe we can become friends. I'm Beth by the way." Beth waved to the girl.

"Hi. Nice to meet you. I'm Max." Max said to the brunette haired girl.

"You skateboard?" Beth asked.

"Yeah. I've been doing it for years. Can you?" Max said to the girl.

"Oh, uh, no. I would like to but I don't know how." Beth explained.

"It's super easy once you get on the board." Max told the girl. "Wanna try?"

"Um, I don't know." Beth shook her head. "Come on, it's fun. I won't let you get hurt. Promise." Max told the girl and she smiled.

Beth slowly got on the skateboard, "Don't think about it too much, it'll help." Max told her.

Beth slowly rode the skateboard and surprisingly didn't fall off. "Are you sure you never did this? You're a natural." Max smiled at the girl.

"Not that I know of." Beth said before hitting a curve and falling into Max's arms. "Shit." She muttered.

"You okay?" Max asked. "Yeah I'm fine." Beth replied as she handed Max her skateboard. A slight blush filled her cheeks.

"Beth?" The girl turned her head.

"Yeah?"

"You see those boys staring at us right?" The ginger asked.

"Oh, yeah. That's super weird." Beth muttered. "Stalker alert. You know what? I have an idea."

"What?"

"Do you have a piece of paper?" Beth asked Max.

"Um, yeah. Hold on." Max opened up her backpack and took out a piece of paper, and handed it to Beth.

Beth took a pen out her pocket and wrote a message on the note. "How's this?"

"That's perfect. Come on." Max zipped up her bag and walked up the stairs into the school, with Beth. Beth handed the note to Max.

Max then crumbled up the note and threw it in the trash, and walked inside.

The four boys who are named Mike, Lucas, Dustin, and Will ran over to the trash bin. The curly haired boy, who was Dustin started to dig inside the trash can as Lucas, Mike, and Will stood there trying to cover him. A group of popular girls walked by, and gave the boys funny looks. The boys just waved awkwardly.

"Got it. There we go." Dustin said.

They looked down at the piece of paper and they said, "Stop spying on us, creeps."

"Well, shit."

Beth and Max are already an amazing duo, and Beth definitely has a crush on Max already. It's obvious 😌✋🏻 Although she probably won't admit yet
