ONE MONTH LATER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beth thought that the blue dress fit perfectly on her. The girl had gone dress shopping with her mother a few weeks ago. After what when on with her and Max a few weeks ago, she had a feeling that tonight was going to be amazing. She wanted to impress Max and hope that the redhead liked her as much as she did.
"Honey, hurry up! I want to take some pictures before you go!" Bev yelled from downstairs. Beth took a deep breath and smiled at herself in the mirror, before walking out her bedroom and going down the steps.
Her parents and her brother were standing at the bottom of the steps. Bev turned to her daughter and smiled, "Oh! Beth, you look beautiful, baby."
Beth smiled and looked down, "Thanks mom."
"She won't be able to take her eyes off you." Brandon winked at his sister making her slightly glare at him.
"She?" Bev looked at her daughter. Beth looked at her parents and then her brother, who ushered her that it was okay.
"Yeah...um...there's this girl, I met. She's so amazing. And I've just connected with her and we became friends and then that friendship turned into.....love." Beth looked down in embarrassment, expecting her parents to yell at her for liking a girl. But she was caught by surprise when her mother and father hugged her.
"Oh, Beth. I'm happy you told us about this. That's amazing. I bet she's a pretty sweet girl, if you like her this much." Ben smiled at his daughter.
Beth smiled at both of her parents before taking a glance at her brother.
"She told me first...just so you know. I guess she trusts me more." Brandon comments making his parents look at him. "....Just saying."
Bev laughed at her son's comment before turning to Beth, "So....what's this mysterious girl's name?"
"Um...her name is....Maxine. But she likes to be called Max." Beth stuttered, making her mother smile.
"Maxine? She sounds cool." Ben commented.
"Yeah, she is."
Brandon took a look at his sister again, and smiled. "Alright, come on. We gotta go."
"Wait!" Bev called making Beth and Brandon stop their tracks from the front door. "Pictures first!"
"Mom!" Beth complained as her and Brandon made faces at their mother.
"It'll be quick, I promise." She said as she ushered Beth to the stairs. After a couple of minutes, Bev finished taking pictures of her daughter.
"We done now?" Beth questioned with a frown.
"Yes, yes. Go have fun." Bev laughed as Beth jumped down the stairs and walked out the door, before Brandon did.
Brandon stayed in for a minute and turned to her parents.
"She really loves that girl, huh?" Ben asked his son, who just smiled.
"Yeah, she does. Probably a little too much."
"Want to make a bet, that they start dating by the end of the year?" Bev held a smirk on her face as she looked between her son and husband.
"Hell yeah." Brandon and Ben said in unison.
Beth walked back in before looking at Brandon, "Come on dude! Let's go, before I found her dancing with someone else."
"Okay, okay. I'm coming." He put his hands up in defense before they both walked over to the car, and drove off.
The ride to the school was silent and Beth felt extremely nervous to face her redhead friend that was also her crush. Brandon pulled up in front of the gym entrance, "All right. We're here."
Beth felt butterflies grow in her stomach as she looked through the doors of the gym. She was afraid that she would be too scared to talk to Max, and afraid that she won't like her the same.
"You okay?" Brandon asked noticing Beth not moving.
"I don't know if I should ask her." Beth said, as she heard the nervousness in her voice. "I mean everyone already makes fun of me for being the "awkward" new kid. So, what are they gonna do when they find out I like girls?"
"Beth, no." Brandon told her, looking at her in the eyes. "You just gotta believe in yourself. Yes, there is a possibility she only likes guys. But what if she likes guys and girls? You can't know unless you ask her to dance first or at least talk to her. Don't worry about what other people think, just think about what you think and want. Besides if anyone says something to you, I'll kick their ass."
Beth laughed a bit, "You'll threaten them though, right? Because I don't think you should beat up a 13 year old."
Brandon laughed, "Yeah, no one messes with my sister and gets away with it."
Beth smiled and took a deep breath, before exiting out the car and closing the door behind her. She ran a hand through her hair before spotting Dustin with Mr. Clarke. "You look beautiful, Bethany."
Beth smiled a bit, "Thanks Mr. Clarke."
"Nice hair, dude." Beth laughed as she looked at his hair. "Let me guess, this was Steve's idea."
"No...I did it myself. It was my own choice....yeah it was his idea." Dustin gave in making Beth laugh.
"Let's go, doofus." Beth said before her and Dustin walked towards the doors.
The two of them walked in together and Beth looked around in awe at the decorations. There was a balloon tunnel at the entrance of the gym and the walls were decorated from head to toe with blue and white streamers. The middle of the room had a disco ball hanging from the ceiling along with block letters that read Snow Ball. Dustin and Beth waved hello to Nancy as they made their way to their friends.
Beth almost fainted when she saw Max. She wasn't wearing a dress which made Beth smile. She was wearing pants and a sweater, which looked beautiful on her. When Max spotted her, Beth saw that her face lit up when she looked at what Beth was wearing. The two had their eyes locked onto each other until Mike spoke, "Holy shit, what happened to you?"
The gang drew their attention towards Dustin's hair, "What do you mean, what happened?"
"What?" Mike exclaimed.
"Dude." Lucas chuckled.
"Your hair." Max said as everyone stared.
"Is there a bird nesting in there?" Lucas questioned, going to touch it, only for Dustin to pull away.
"Don't be mean." Beth said. "I think it looks great."
"What do you mean, what's wrong with my hair? There's no bird nesting in here, asshole! Okay?" Dustin yelled, which made the group laugh. "I worked hard."
Beth smiled and rubbed Dustin's arm before looking at Max, "You look amazing, Max."
"Not as amazing as you." Max smiled, staring at Beth's dress. "You look gorgeous, Beth. Just like you always do. All I did was did my hair and wore nice clothes."
Beth grabbed Max's hand, "Hey, you always look amazing and beautiful. You're the prettiest one here."
A light blush formed on Max's cheeks just as a romantic song started to play over the speakers, "You won at that the second you stepped in here."
Beth's heart started beating fast at those words and she hesitated asking Max to dance. Once she got her mind back, she opened her mouth to speak when a girl walked up to them, looking at Lucas. "Um, hi. Um, Lucas...would you...um...maybe like to dance with me?"
"Um...I..uh..." Lucas stuttered, before the boys gave him a look to go. "Uh, yeah. Sure." They then both went to the dance floor.
A girl then came up and asked Will to dance and he went with her. Beth finally turned to Max and asked, "Um...Max, would maybe like to...uh...dance with me?"
Beth was ready for the rejection when Max said, "You're really asking me to dance Snow White?"
"Um..no...I mean...yeah...would you?" Beth stuttered a bit before Max smiled.
"You're so cute. Come on." Max said before grabbing Beth's hand and pulling towards the dance floor. Beth felt a blush on her cheeks, and felt her heart almost burst out her chest. It was really happening. It really was.
The two of them got on the dance floor and Max wrapped her arms around her neck and Beth placed her hands on her waist. The girls glanced at a bunch of students staring at them in confusion and sort of disgust, but they ignored them and just smiled at each other. Beth looked over to see Dustin dancing with Nancy and Stacy looking at him in shock, making Beth laugh.
The music started to pick up slightly and Beth stared into Max's beautiful blue eyes before Max stared at her in silence. Max then leaned in to kiss Beth making her eyes widen in shock. She pulled away and Beth had a huge smile on her face making Max smile too before resting her head on Beth's shoulder.
Everyone in the group was happy and was sort of normal again. Will and Eleven had been home safe, two new party members were added, and Beth finally found the girl of her dreams. Everything was perfect the way it was. But they all knew that there was still something lurking in the shadows waiting to strike once again.
Hey you guys!!! Happy Saint Patrick's Day!! Another chapter is here!! Sorry it took freaking forever but I had a big science test this week so I had to study for that and prepare for it, which sucked! But I'm back and have no upcoming tests like that so...expect more updates soon.
Also I'll be adding one last chapter before we head to season 3. Like I said someone will be arriving. So here's a hint....it's someone close to Beth and she had a crush on this girl but she rejected her and they never spoke again after Beth moved. Now I don't know if you'll remember who this is cause I only mentored them like twice, but if you do then yeah....
Anyways, the last chapter will be uploaded real soon and hope you all have a wonderful day! Love you all!
