November 1st, 1984

The loud bell ring made Beth shoot up and close her textbook. She exited the classroom along with other students and opened her locker. A tap on her shoulder made her turn in that direction to hear a giggle. Beth turned to her left and gasped when she saw the redheaded girl.

"Are you coming with us to show Dart to Mr. Clarke?" Beth asked the redhead, who grabbed her skateboard from her locker.

"Hell yeah I am." Max smiled. Beth chuckled and two girls walked side by side towards Mr. Clarke's classroom as Dustin and Lucas already went in.

Dustin placed the machine he built onto Mr. Clarke's desk just as Max and Beth were entering. "This is the reason I was late for class."

Mr. Clarke looked at the small machine and then smiled, "Pretty neat. These doors function?"

Dustin's face dropped, "Well, yeah, obviously. But it's not about the trap. It's what's inside. Now, this very well may change your perception of the world."

Mr. Clarke smiled, "Consider my interest piqued."

Dustin smiled brightly, "All right, first, let's just clarify that...this is my discovery, not yours."

"Dustin, Jesus! Just show him!" Lucas yelled, growing frustrated at Dustin taking forever to Mr. Clarke his pet.

"I'm just trying to clarify-"

"Dustin!" Beth and Max said in unison, trying to get the boy to focus on why they were there.

"Okay, fine." Dustin stated, smiling at the two girls.

Dustin was about to open the trap when he was interrupted.

"Stop! I'm really sorry, Mr. Clarke. It was just a stupid prank." Mike rushed his words as he opened the door and ran in. He grabbed the box which made Dustin immediately ask what was going on. "We need to go, right now. Right now!"

After that, the gang followed Mike and Will as they ran in panic towards the AV room. Beth wondered what was happening and was very worried. Mike opened the door to the AV room and let everyone in, before slamming the door on Max and Beth, and shouting. "Not you two."

"Are you shitting me?!" Beth cursed out before falling to the ground and leaving against the wall.

Max sighed before sitting next to Beth. After a few seconds, Max pounded on the door. "Hello? Hello? Guys, come on. Can we come in yet?"

"No!" Mike's voice said making both girls sigh.

"This is completely bullshit." Max muttered as sat back on the ground. "I agree." Beth nodded.

Max leaned on her head on Beth's shoulder making the girl's cheeks turn pink. Beth leaned her head on the redhead's head and held her hand.

Both girls smiled before they heard screeching from the other side of the door. Max went to the door again and banged on it again.

"Guys. What's going on? Come on." Max yelled before Beth searched into her bag. She found a paper clip and grabbed it and held out to Max. "Try this." The brunette smirked.

Max took the paper clip and started picking the lock when it suddenly shot open and Dart ran out immediately.

Dustin ran into Max making her fall on Beth. "Get off Dustin!" Beth yelled.

"Where'd he go?" Lucas asked.

"What was that?" Max and Beth asked in unison.

"Dart!" Mike yelled. "What?" The redhead asked.

"You let him escape!" Mike yelled. "How the hell were we supposed to know he was at the door, Wheeler." Beth said getting in front of Max protectively, before the redhead pulled her back placing her hands on Beth's shoulders. Beth's expression to from angry to calm.

"Why did you attack him?" Dustin yelled as he got into Mike's face.

"Come on." Mike said annoyed, pushing Dustin out the way as he ran to try and find Dart.

"Don't hurt him! Don't you hurt him!" Dustin yelled at him.

The group eventually decided to spilt up and get different parts of the school to search. Mike got the east, Dustin got the west, Will got the south, and Lucas got the north. They didn't give Max or Beth an area, assuming they would just go home. But they didn't and started helping search for Dart.

Beth and Max decided to search the gym for Dart. They were in the boys locker room when Mike ran in with a broom. Mike yelled making both girls turn around.

"What the hell are you doing?" Max asked.

"What are you doing? Why are you in here?" Mike asked the girls.

"We're looking for Dart." Beth replied. "This is the boy's room." Mike said.

"Yeah so?" Max asked. "So, you should go home." Mike said before throwing the broom on the ground. He stormed out as the girls followed him.

"Why do you hate us so much?" Max asked him.

"I don't hate you. How can I hate you? I don't even know you." Mike replied. "But you don't want us in your party?" Max asked.

"Correct."

"Why not?" Both girls asked. Mike turned around and said, "Because you're annoying. Also, we don't need another party member. I'm our paladin, Will's our cleric, Dustin's our bard, Lucas's our ranger, and El's our mage."

Both girls froze, "El? Who's El?" Max asked.

"Someone. No one." Mike said. "Someone or no one?" Max asked.

"She was in our party a long time ago. She moved away, okay?" Mike answered.

"She was a mage? Well, what could she do? Like magic tricks or something? Well I could be your Zoomer and Beth can be our Rogue, since she's good at fighting and lock picking skills." Max explained.

"That's not even a real thing." Mike told Max.

"It could be." She got on her skateboard and started skating around in circles. "See? Zoomer."

"Mind blowing." Mike said unimpressed.

"Come on, you know you're impressed." Max said.

"I don't see any tricks. You're just going around in a circle." Mike said.

"If it's so easy, you try it." Max said.

"No."

"Why not?"

"I don't know how."

Beth chuckled, "So then you admit it's kind of impressive."

"I think if I spent, like, all day practicing I could do that." Mike said.

"No way, Wheeler. It takes at least at month of training to do that. I'm still learning myself." Beth told him.

Max nodded and said, "I'd give you a million bucks, if you could."

"Okay, you're making me dizzy. Please just stop." Mike said.

"I'll stop when we join the party." Max told him.

"Come on just stop."

"It's a simple question. Are we in or are we out?" Max asked before she was flung back on her board falling into Beth.

"Jesus! Are you all right?" Mike asked both girls as he pulled Max up, as Beth stood up.

"Yeah, yeah. I think so." Max said.

"What happened?" Mike asked.

"I don't know. It was like a magnet or something pulling on my board. I know that sounds crazy." Max explained.

Mike ran off outside in a rush, and Beth helped Max.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Beth asked the redhead.

"Yeah I'm fine." Max smiled.

"Good because I can't go visit in the hospital all the time, if you got hurt. I have a life." Beth told her making the girl laugh. Beth smiled at the girl's laugh. It was so sweet and soft. Both girls looked at each other before a voice was heard.

"Guys I found him." Will's voice said over the radio.

"Where?" Dustin asked.

"In the bathroom. By Mr. Salerno's." He replied.

"Copy that." Mike said before everyone ran over to the bathroom.

Dustin was there but Will wasn't.

"Where's Dart?" Mike asked.

"I don't know. Not here." Dustin shrugged.

"What?"

"He said by Salerno's, right?" Max asked.

"Yeah, maybe Will has him."

"Where is Will?" Mike asked before everyone ran to go and search for him.

Eventually Mike found Will and Joyce had arrived as she ran over to her son.

"I just found him like this!"

"I think he's having another episode!" Mike told Joyce.

Joyce puts her arms on her son's shoulders, "Will! Will! Will! Sweetie, wake up! It's mom! Will! Will, wake up! Can you hear me?"

His eyes were moving faster under his eyelids, and Beth grew worried for the boy. The rest of the group looking at him with worry etched on their faces. Joyce continued to try and wake him, "Will, please, just wake up! Please, wake up! It's mom! Will!"

Will finally gasped, and woke up, his eyes wide. Will started breathing heavily, almost like he hadn't been getting any air. Joyce hugged him, "Oh my god, are you okay?"

Will didn't answer. Joyce glanced at Mike, then started ushering her son off the field. They walked back through the school, and through the front doors in silence. Beth held Max's hand as she was still worried for her new friend.

"Okay, that totally freaked me out." Max stated, as they stood at the front steps of the school, watching Will go home with his mom. "Did that not freak you guys out?"

"Two episodes in two days." Lucas said.

"It's getting worse." Mike agreed.

"You think it's True Sight?" Lucas questioned. Mike gave him a "shut the fuck up look".

"What's True Sight?" Max and Beth asked in unison.

"It's nothing." Lucas told both girls.

Both girls looked at each other in worry. They didn't know what the hell was happening. They wanted to help, but they couldn't if they weren't allowed to know anything.

Next chapter is going to be cute sibling moments between Beth and Brandon. So get ready 😏
