Sorry for the delay on results, a few people requested extensions, and I also got a new phone and had to spend a couple days transferring my stuff. Judging this round was so hard, all the entries were so gorgeous and you all really outdid yourselves <3!

HONORABLE MENTIONS

This cover is so pretty, I love the overall black and white scheme with the pops of burgundy red, it definitely helps draw focus to key elements in the design. The text set up is beautiful, I love how the 'R' attaches to both 'Ruby' and 'Red.' Now, for the story, I absolutely loved it and if it was an actual book or show I would definitely read or watch it. I love the concept of Alex trying to blend into the party, and the necklace shattering every time she dies and comes back!

By far I think this is one of your best ideas yet. I love the door, with the hands coming out of it and the ghostly figure behind Alex. The way she's holding up the paper she received and the rainy glow around the necklace really cohesively ties into your story line and I think you did really good on lighting and text this time as well. As for your story, I think it was so unique how she was lured there by the spirits underneath the tree. The fact that they were murdered and asking for help being found is so interesting and something I really loved and think you put into the graphic nicely.

The lighting on this graphic is so beautiful, it looks very realistic as it's coming from it's light sources. I do love the use of the model, how she's placed and especially how the light lands in her. The woods in the background are still visible past the light, and I think that's a sign that you used the space you had in a way that every element of the graphic is able to be seen. As for your story, I was really invested in what you had written and I thought it was very well thought out. The war between good and evil gods, and the fact that the goddess of the good spirits gave the necklace to Alex. My favorite part is how the Evil goddess tricked Alex to coming to the woods so that the necklace could open the portal you mentioned. I would definitely read something like this if it were a full book!

THIRD PLACE

So third place is a tie, I really couldn't decide because they both scored the same while I was judging, though they are different. So for yours, I love the title coloring, it's very pretty, and the lighting from the fire is soft but really looks like it's cast well. It's a dark graphic, but I think everything is still very visible and well put together. Another thing I like is the necklace. It's unique in its design as it's not just one jem but multiple put together. For story feedback, I actually really liked the idea that the location is only accessible to this secret group of deities and that if they're not one of these deities they have to have the permission from one time enter. I adore the twist that the reason she can see the place is because the king of these people chose her as his queen. I'm a sucker for stories like this!

So the other part of the tie. Again these two for 3rd scored the same, but they're very different and beautiful in their own ways. For this one I'm blown away by the lighting. Dare I say it's one of the most realistic lighting works I've seen? The way the light from the fire that's just out of sight is shining through and reflecting off of the models looks very natural. Pairing that with the glow from the necklace is beautiful. The manipulation work with the head dress nearly blew me away as well, it's very very well done. I could stare at this for hours picking out things I like about it. For the story portion, I love the Egypt and mythology concept. This was one if the most well written out finishings, and I adore the way you explained that the voice lured him out to the Nile. The way the story ended in the figure telling him to take back what was his, and the note if reincarnation. I have no words for how well done that was.

SECOND PLACE

This checks every box when it comes to key elements from the prompt given. The faint embers and light coming from the fire, the woods around the models, the letter, and of course the ruby necklace. I love the coloring on this design and the faint light coming from above adding a beautiful shine to her hair. The way the necklace hangs and the shadow below it looks very realistic and I'm in love with the texturing of her hair. The figure running forward in the back ties very well with your story, and the use of the leaves and branches to add a bit of foreground is beautiful. Another thing I love is the metallic and raised text! For your story finishing I love how you set it back in the Victorian Era as it's very different and unique. The plot around her being a crime investigator and ho she couldn't be like her father because of her being a woman. The fact that she still became a great detective and was led back to the location if her first case, it provides a well written story that I can definitely visualize in my head and it think your graphic perfectly visualizes it anyway. I love how the Ruby ties into the criminals M.O. The quote at the end of your story was a wonderful way to wrap it up. Overall this is an absolutely stunning design and story!

♢ FIRST PLACE

This graphic as well checks many boxes when it comes to key elements from the prompt. The woods surrounding the location, the bonfire behind the model, and the ruby necklace are all important elements from the prompt you included beautifully the lighting from both the fire and necklace is of course very well done and I think it's cast very naturally. I especially love that way it reflects off of her hair and shoulder. The foreground with the brush adds dimension which I really like, and I adore the strings if bulbs in the image you chose. They make it look like there was a party going in there for sure. The ruby tucked into the text is stunning and I think it was definitely a great addition, along with the darker texturing in the letters. Your story was one if my favorites. And I feel like it all leads to the point that your cover visualizes perfectly. The way he goes to this location out if curiosity despite his original judgement, knowing all of the missing person cases from the area. Only to be lured through the party to this Siren. The Siren idea was so original and I love the way that you gave her the name Ruby. Overall I believe your graphic and story were well thought out and in the end you delivered something stunning!
