"Wow Katherine! This is huge!" I yell out of pure excitement for her veterinarian work. I'm so happy for her, she truly deserves it. But to my surprise she's shrugs off my compliment.

"Eh, it's nothing, really. I just have to figure out a small speech, wear a decent dress, you know those stuff." She replies, disinterested, so I decide not to ask more on it. "Well, I'll see you all tonight. Bye Lily. Oh and make sure the boys don't get into any fights, yeah?"

The boys. Cole and Alex.

I nod, as she grabs her pair of keys and goes out the main door. How am I going to deal with Cole? Or Alex?

I grab my backpack and see the boys and Jackie waiting for me outside. I quickly get into the car and get my favorite book and try to distract myself from the fact that I'm in the same car with the two people I'm trying to avoid the most.

Great, just great.

Soon the awkward science was broken by Isaac. "So Lily, your birthday is coming up in a few days, right?" He gives me a warm smile. "4 days but, whose counting, right?" I nervously answer while fidgeting with my bookmark.

It was a hideous neon pink one with fur underneath it. Cole gave it to me when we were younger.

3 years ago.

"Lils! Wait up!" I hear Cole's voice which makes me turn behind. I quickly wipe my tears off. "What?" I ask with a lump in my throat. "I'm sorry." He mumbles.

Me and Cole fight a lot. It is common. And I know this is the time for him to have crushes but does that mean he has to ditch me for them? "Sorry? Your sorry? Say sorry to the Chinese take-out I got for us, Say sorry to the gaming setup I made! Say sorry to.." my angry voice turned into a sob as he pulled me closer to him.

"I'm really sorry to the Chinese take-out, and I'm really sorry to the gaming setup  you made and mostly I'm sorry I left you." He tugs me closer to him.

I was only thirteen but he got me feeling things, I shouldn't feel. I sometimes get red like how mommy gets around daddy. Oops Sounds like someone's got a crush!

No no no! I don't like Cole!  "How about I make it up by getting you some ice cream?" He grins and I give in.

"Fine. I want strawberry." I mumble as I walk forward but he pulls me back and places a series of beads tied up with a neon thread. "This.. is a book mark. It's hideous, I know. But hey! Remember me before throwing it out." He tries winking but he fails, which makes me laugh until I could barely breathe.

Back to the present.

I didn't notice I was smiling until I saw Cole smirking through the rear view mirror. I wipe that goofy smile off my face, and luckily for me, we just reached school. I get off faster than a cheetah and rush to my art class.

Oh boy, is this how I'm going to live now?

"Oh wow Katherine you look beautiful!" I look at her with awe. She looked gorgeous. She's gorgeous. "You think?" She asks with a nervous chuckle. "I know so, your going to kill it!" I reach to her cheek and place a kiss and she smiles before heading to the stage.

I come put of the props area and go sit beside.. well well. Looks like the only place available was beside Cole-freaking-Walter. So much for 'ignoring' him. I quietly take a place beside him and he surprising doesn't speak.

He takes a sip from his Hip Flask. He was looking kind of.. tipsy. Soon enough, he was knocking over all sort of things on the table, WHILE Katherine was giving a speech. He got off his chair and then went up to someone's table.

Liliana, DON'T GO AFTER HIM.

Too late, I was already pulling him out the room. "What the hell, Cole!" I try knocking some sense into him but Will arives as my savior.

"Look Cole, I know things have sucked sucked without football-" Will tries speaking but Cole and his drunk ass interrupts him. "Oh— you know?!"

"How?! You're smart, you could've gotten outta here but no, you chose to stay here in this lame ass town. And you do not know how it feels to have that choice being taken away you!" His pained voice yelled.

There argument goes for a while and it makes my ears ring. I always hated people fighting. Whether if it was me and my sisters or my dad and my mom or Cole and Alex.

Soon Will storms off.

"Cole. Look at me." I ask him gently and he does what I say. "Help me understand." I ask softer than before.

"Help you understand what? That I don't know what I'm doing or who I am anymore?!"

"I know things are hard for you right now, I get that Cole— but if you let me in we can fix this together." I set aside all the anger I have at him and replace it with the love I had for him.

"I don't want to fix anything with you.
I just want you to–"

"What?! You just me to what?!"

"I want you to leave, I wish you never came here."

"You don't..  mean that." Denial rose up in my voice.

"I do. I really do."

Five words were enough for me to be left heartbroken.

Hope yall liked it! There's a bday special one coming maybe the next chapter or after another one. Tysm for 70K READS!! that means so so much and honestly this has been one journey. I can't believe I've made it this far. I've never made it this far with a fanfiction but that's all because of you all and your encouraging words. And I think this is my longest chapter yet. Oh and Cole was 14 years old in the flashback <3 I'm rlly sorry for not updating as much. (School sucks fr.) Anyway ily all and stay tuned for the next few chapter, mwah!
