ย ย ย ย "STAY RIGHT HERE." Jim casually strolled up to his desk, fumbling his hands over his things like he's looking for something. Jim knocks over his pencil can and inconspicuously snatch's Andy's phone from his desk.
ย ย "He's gonna put his fist through a wall." I giggle, biting my bottom lip trying to stop a smile from spreading across my face. Looking behind Andy, I caught Neil's eye. I give him a quick grin and then focused at the task at hand.
"Are there any messages?" Jim asks, quietly setting the phone down in front of him so that Pam could take it. I covered my laugh with a loud cough. Jim smirked down at me; his green eyes dancing with mischief. The taller man shot both, Pam and I a wink before sitting back down at his desk. I grabbed a few more orange jelly-beans, before taking my leave too.

ย ย "Usually I'm not one for practical jokes." I easily confessed to the crew. I puffed out my chest a little, a devious look crossing over my features. "But I can make exceptions." The entire crew exploded into laughs and giggles. My full lips fell open in shock.
ย ย "Why are you guys laughing?" Sebastian was practically on the floor while Doug and Chloe leaned on each other for support. "Come on guys! I can be terrifying!" I whined. Much to my dismay, it only made them laugh more.

ย ย Jim made eye contact with me from his desk. His eyes slowly trailing to the kitchen door. I gave a quick nod, grabbing my tea and strolling into the tiny kitchen. I quickly checked both bathrooms to make sure that no one would see, and gave Jim a thumbs up once I knew the coast was clear. Jim stood from his desk, Pam following closely behind. I took my position near the door closest to the annex, and my beautiful brunette friend taking her spot near the water jug.
ย ย A quiet snort left my nose when Jim climbed up on the counter. The man quietly pick up the ceiling tile, and chucked Andy's cellphone all the way down towards his desk. I heard it land with a loud thud and the feeling of satisfaction entered my body. Jim hopped down from his spot on the counter and turned towards me.
ย ย "You have done well, young padawan." He praised in a God-awful Yoda voice. I snickered into my tea.
ย ย "Thank you, Master Jim." The man bowed down, throwing his hands up like he won a major award then promptly walking out of the kitchen and to his desk. The smile that he wore never leaving his face.

ย ย Pure. Unadulterated. Serotonin. I know that sounds so evil and so messed up, but honestly I couldn't care less at that moment of time. I am convinced, that Andy was something that God sent down to test me to see if I would become a serial killer. I am not a serial killer, so pranking the man was the next best thing. I swiveled in my chair, just observing Andy attempting to find his phone.
ย ย "Um... Large Tuna. Have you seen my cell phone device?" Andy asked while poking around the area behind his computer. Jim set his lips into a frown, slowly shaking his head back and forth. "No."
ย ย "Because someone is calling right now. There is a call..." I tapped my pen to the beat, and mouthing the words to Billie, who was next to Neil, who was recording Andy. Billie and I were rocking out. I used my pen as a microphone, while she played her invisible guitar. Over the passed few months that I've known the crew, I've grown increasingly close to them. They got my humor and understood me when I tripped over my words. I was thankful for that; for them.
Pam went out in the hall to talk to Angela (presumingly about Dwight), which meant it was my turn to call Andy's phone. I punched in his number nimbly, slightly humming to myself while doing so. I gave Jim a sneaky wink and raised the phone to my ear.

ย ย A loud huff echoed through the office. Andy stood up from his desk and began pacing around his desk, desperately trying to catch a glimpse of his cellular device.
ย ย "Okay, has anyone seen my phone?" I pulled my lips into a frown of fake sympathy, shaking my head 'no'. Andy then got on all four's and began crawling to see every nook and cranny. My soft blue eyes met Neil's; nothing put pure joy shinning in them.
"Uh, Evergreen. Have you seen my cell phone?" I clenched my teeth at the nickname and pushed my dainty foot onto the floor, making my chair face Andy.
"Sorry, no." I mouthed to him, covering my hand over my speaker to make it look like I was on the phone with a client. Andy's eyes narrowed at me and he began to take a few steps closer.
"Who are you talking to?" He pressed. I began to get a little nervous. He was going to find me out and blow the prank. I had just opened my mouth to answer when Jim's voice captured both, Andy and I's attention.
"Evie, you can transfer that call to me now. Sorry for making you wait so long, kiddo." I nodded my head once in understanding.
"No problem." Andy was slow to go back to his desk but he did. I hung up the phone, discreetly turning to Neil and wiping the fake sweat off my brow. Jim raised his phone to his ear, his famous smirk facing Sebastian's camera.

ย ย Andy slammed his hand down onto his desk and stared at Jim with the wrath of a thousand men. He drummed his stubby fingers on his cheek for a few seconds before speaking.
ย ย "What's going on?" I could practically taste the rage from his voice, and I loved every moment of it. Evil. I know.
ย ย "What are you talkin' about?" Jim answered, confusion playing on his voice.
ย ย "Where is my freaking phone?!" I turned wide eyed to Neil, who had his hand covering his mouth to stifle the laughter. A little bit behind him I saw Brian and Chloe hitting each other for laughing too loud.
"You know what? Maybe it's in the ceiling." Jim added, most helpfully because his phone was indeed: in the the ceiling.
"You know what? Maybe you're in the ceiling." Andy sneered over the top of his monitor. Jim rolled his eyes.
"Okay." He agreed sarcastically. Andy rolled his chair over to Phyllis' desk and yanked open one of her draws. I've never seen the older woman react faster, she slammed her draw shut without hesitation.
"I don't trust you, Phyllis." I had to get a giggle out at that one. I regretted the decision afterwards.
"You think this is funny, Goldilocks?!" Color immediately rushed to my cheeks. It was a mixture of embarrassment for being called out like that and anger, because if there was one thing in the entire world I hated being called most, it was Goldilocks. I have no idea what came over me but I met the fury in his eyes and stood to my five-foot-three glory.
"Yeah, I do." I snatched my coat from my chair and stormed out of the office. Missing the concerned faces looking my way.

I sat in my car with my heat blasting and my music playing at low. I fiddled with the ring on my finger, letting my thoughts consume my mind. I came back to the real world when I heard the car door open. My panic was eased when I realized that it was Jim. The older man slid into the passenger seat and let out a huff of air.
"So that was a reaction." He stated matter-of-factly. I snorted, turning to face him. My eyes met his and I could feel them piercing my soul. I knew he was waiting for an explanation, and I wasn't going to hold out on him. I needed to talk and I think he knew that too.
"My dad use to call me Goldilocks." I looked back down at my hands, tracing my veins with my pinky finger. Jim's hand gently grabbed mine, urging me to go on. I took a deep breath.
"My mom was diagnosed with Leukemia four years ago. I was fifteen. My dad had never been the warm type, but when he left... It made me see who he really was. I was fifteen, I needed my dad and he wasn't there." I felt the stinging behind my eyes and I knew blinking wasn't going to help these tears go away.
ย ย "And I've been trying so hard to just push through, you know? I keep telling myself that my mom's gonna be fine and that I'm gonna walk into my apartment one day and find her there waiting for me, but she's not. S-she has less than a year and then I'm gonna be all alone and Jim I don't want to be all aloneโ" Tears were streaming down my face. I felt like I was carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders and no matter how many times I try to catch my breath, it just keeps getting heavier.
ย ย I was surprised when I felt a tight grip on my shoulders. I looked up and I saw Jim's watery green eyes. A solum smile was on his lips.
ย ย "Evangeline Walker, as long as I live and breathe, you will never be alone. I mean it, kid. Anything you need, I'm there." I nodded my head, trying to get rid of the smudged mascara. Jim's large hands crept their way to either side of my face. He tilted my head down and placed a kiss on the crown of my head. After that we talked for a while. Jim's stupid jokes and shitty impressions making my feel a little lighter.
***
Jim Halpert was practically shaking in anger. His arms were crossed in front of his chest and his legs were crossed.
"How do you leave a kid like that?" Jim shook his head, scoffing in rage. "A nineteen-year-old shouldn't be concerned on how to pay the next medical bill. She's the coolest kid I've ever met, I'll be damned if I let her slip through my fingers like that ass-wipe did."
Today the crew learned two very important things. One, Jim Halpert is a force to be reckoned with, when angry. And two, Evangeline Walker is someone that the world has done wrong many times. But everyone in that room planned to change that.

"Where are you going do want me to come with?" I wanted to rip my hair out. GET THE HINT! I wanted to yell, but I had my one outburst already and I plan to never have one again.
"Uhmโ" Micheal groaned, getting cut off by Andy.
"I forgot to tell you the plan for this Saturday: you, me, bar, beers, buzzed, wings, shots, drunk. Waitresses, hot. Football, Cornell/Hofstra: slaughter. Then quick nap at my place and we hit the tiz-own." I covered my face with my hands, shielding myself from the second hand embarrassment that's bound to happen.
"No. I don't want to do any of that." Micheal spoke clearly. I was pleasantly surprised at Micheal's retort. And I was not shocked at Andy's answer.
"Duh. Which is why I was only joking about doing itโ"
"Just stop. Stop. Just stop doing it. You're going to drive me crazy." Micheal glared at Andy. The Cornell man stomped his foot like a child and frowned at Micheal.
"Fine, I'll sit at my desk and be quiet. Sorry I annoyed you with with my friendship." The office was very silent.

ย ย I was reminded for the one-thousandth time today: why I love James Halpert.
ย ย "And I'm also sorry that a lot of people here for some reason think it's funny to steal someone's personal property and hide it from them." Jim gave Billie's camera a mock sad face and let Andy continue on his little tangent.
ย ย "Here's a little news flash. It's not funny! In fact, it's pretty freakin' unfunny! Oh, my God!" Then Andy put his fist through the wall. Jim hung up the phone.
~~~
"Oh, my God. That's half-inch drywall." I smiled at Jim's amazement, slightly adjusting the sombrero that sat top my head.
"I think we broke his brain." Pam remarked innocently. All three of us bursted into laugher; Jim's laughs more like prolonged snorts, and Pam's quiet breaths through her nose.
I lightly slapped both of their arms trying to get them to quiet down.
"It's not freaking funny." I mumbled into my cup of lemonade. Jim's face morphed into one of disbelief.
"Oh, stop it, Miss. Business-pants. You enjoyed seeing him lose his sanity." Pam poked my side, trying to get me to tell the truth. I held up my thumb and index finger, leaving a tiny space in between. Another round of laughter starting back up from the three of us. I patted both Pam and Jim on their backs and strolled over to Brian and Chloe.
"Hey, hun. How's it going?" Chloe asked, a gentle smile on her lips. I smiled brightly at her and shrugged my shoulders.
"It's goingโ"
"Ladies and gentlemen! May I present... Mr. Dwight Schrute!" Scattered applauses filled the room. Whether people admitted to it or not, everyone was glad to see Dwight was back. Angela welcomed him back with a handshake, as did the others. I have him a quick one because his hands were clammy, after that I promptly wiped my hand on my skirt.
The crowd was moving into the conference room and I was glad to see that Neil was there without his camera. Which means; he's done for the day and I can talk to the abnormally tall man. I slumped down into the chair next to him, throwing my head against the cool window. A snort sounded from my left, I tilted my head to see that Neil was already facing me.
"I hope you're willing to share the guacamole that's on your plate right now." I teased. Neil chuckled and tilted his plate towards me.
"You can take my guacamole any day." I squealed and dove right in to grab a chip. I haven't eaten anything all day, so that one chip was heaven on earth.
"Um, maybe you don't want to talk about it, but I saw your face when Andy said what he did and I wanted to make sure you were okay." The green food seemed to be a little harder to swallow. I cleared my throat and looked into his puppy-dog eyes. The only thing I could see was concern and sincerity.
"I'm fine, Neil. The name just brought up some bad memories, I should know better by now." I chuckled tensely.
"Hey, no. Whatever you're dealing with, you do it at your own pace. I just wanted you to know that I'm here for you if you ever need anything." His voice had a slight rasp to it, and I could listen to it all day. My dainty hand grabbed his much larger one, our fingers interlocked.
"Thank you." I whispered. Neil brought my hand up to his mouth and kissed it lightly. His lips were warm and soft. When he pulled back a breathy laugh left his mouth.
"Your hands are freezing, Angel." In that moment I realized: Neil Donavan was someone I could fall in love with. And maybe I had already started to.
