17| RAFE CAMERON AND BALI PANDAROS
"Rafe!" Bali called as she got out of her car and staring up at the balcony edge. She went to the fishing spot, Toppers, Kelces, the guest house, a hook up he had two years ago, and finally here. She spent the whole night in search of him and didn't find him until right as the sun was coming up, "Rafe Cameron!"
"Bali?" Rafe asked, looking over the side of the balcony down at her, "What fhe hell are you doing?"
"Looking for your dumb ass." Bali said as she waved her arms, "Let me up."
"Give me a minute!" he called, sounds of bottles clanging and a new curse words falling before he returned, "It's open."
Bali opened the door and walked inside, heading up the staircase and making it toward the top. She looked around, the balcony doors open and she headed over. Rafe took a swig of drink he was nurturing, giving her a cheeky grin, "Hey."
"Hey." she said back, walking over and looking down at the table of coke and empty beer bottles. Rafe coughed as he set the bong over the coke, "Move your legs."
Rafe moved his legs to the side as she threw her own over the chair he was in, feet digging into his left leg as she sat on the arm rest. Rafe laid his arms in his lap and looked up at her, "What are you doing here?"
"Looking for you." abs hummed, "I heard your dad threw you out."
Rafe laughed as he ran a hand through the gelled locks, red in the eyes, "Mm, yeah, few nights ago."
"How come?" Bali asked, looking at the table and grabbing one of the half filled wine coolers, "You're into girly drinks?"
"Leave me alone." Rafe said back, taking it from her and drinking the rest, "I owe Barry a lot of money. My dad paid it, then kick my ass out."
Bali gave a small frown, "Barry burn you?"
Rafe looked over and saw she'd been looking at his forearm, "Oh. Yeah, right before."
"So who are you getting your stuff from now?" Bali asked as she looked at the table, Rafe gave her a look, "I'm not a nark, i'm just wondering who it is."
"Are you even cool here?" Rafe asked as he looked at the table, "Are you like- gonna fucking die in my arms again?"
"Die in your arms? Are we performing shakespeare?" she snorted. Rafe didn't find her joke amusing, "Sorry, dark humor."
"Mm, yeah." Rafe nodded as he leaned back, clearly annoyed that she thought it was funny, "Jesus, Bal, why are you here? You're, like, mocking me."
"I'm not, like, mocking you." she mocked before giving a snort, "Okay, maybe right there I did."
Rafe huffed.
"I was worried about you. Weezie told me you got kicked out and I just wanted to make sure you didn't go all nuts and overdose." Bali said as he laughed, "Why are you laughing at me?"
"Because this little- this little caring act is hilarious." he mocked her, looking up, "You clearly want something so, like, just tell me so you can leave me alone."
Bali gave a look of disbelief and slapped his arm, "Fuck you, I do care. You were my best friend for, like, what? A year?"
"Something like that." he waved her off, "And then you fucking left me."
"I didn't leave you." Bali said in disbelief.
"Dude, yes you did." he spoke in disbelief and pushed her hand off of his shoulder, "You didn't even talk to me after you got back from rehab. I called you all the time and tried to come to your house and you never once tried to talk to me."
"There was a restraining order out for six months, I legally couldn't go near you for that time. When my parents dropped it you were never sober enough for me to feel okay around." Bali made her point with a knowing look and a harsh glare, "And I was fucking pissed as you anyways."
"What? Because you overdosed?" Rafe went back at her.
"No, because you let them take me away." she spoke, getting off the chair as anger filled her veins, "I was yelling for you, dude. And you didn't do anything."
"What did you want me to do, Bal? Your dad was all up in my face and there were doctors everywhere." Rafe said with a insane look across his face, "I didn't let them take you, you just feel guilty for abandoning me."
"Maybe so." Bali agreed, "But unlike some people, i'm trying to stay sober and every time i'm around you i'm reminded of freshman year. I don't wanna use and overdose again, so i'm sorry that meant walking away from you."
"Then what the hell are you doing here now?" Rafe asked her, raising his voice.
"Because I want to make sure you're okay!" she yelled back, throwing her bag at him, "Fuck you, dude. I came here, with all these drugs triggering me, just to make sure you weren't dead or anything and you're being such a ass to me."
Rafe leaned on his arm and looked over at her. He checked her bag, looking at the snacks. Hs laughed when he grabbed the Scooby-Doo snacks, "You remember when we ate all of these and then got sick?"
"Is that how it went?" Bali asked in disbelief, "I remember you puking on Weezie but that's it."
Rafe gave a half grin as he put the bag to the side. He looked around and shook his head, "I know this looks really bad, but i'm getting my shit together."
"I believe you." she nodded her head at his words, sitting down again and nudging her leg with his, "Whats going on with Barry? Is he still saling to you?"
"No, this is all just my secret stash." ha said, leaning back on the chair and rubbing both his hands through his hair, "Now he's just going bat shit on me because Sarah and her friends, including your punk ass, stole from him."
Bali felt guilty, "He's going after you for that?"
"Sarah's my sister, and he knows how we use to be. So, yeah, clearly." Rafe spoke as if she was stupid, which she felt considered she didn't think of it sooner, "Weezie brought me, like, three hundred. That kid."
Bali stood up, pulling her check book out. Rafe watched her write something down before looking at him, "Rafe, my parents are going to kill me for this, your dick-face better be great full."
"Bali-" he began before she cut him him off.
"This is to get Barry away from you so you'll be safe. Not for you to go get some coke, or spend on some fancy golfing shit, do you hear?" Bali asked as she passed him the check quickly.
"Listen, i'll p-" he began before she kneeled down infront of him and grabbed the sides of his face. His cheeks squished together slightly as she stared at him.
"Rafe, are you hearing me? I'm seriously, right now, listen to me." she spoke sternly while staring into his eyes.
"I'm listening." he nodded, holding the check in his hands while she held his face.
Bali sighed as she pulled them back, "Loot at me."
He looked up at her.
"Everything's gonna be okay, do you hear me? I believe in you, I know you can do better and i'm sorry for walking out on you the way I did." she said, grabbing his chin with a knowing look, "You know that, don't you? You know I care?"
"No, I didn't." Rafe said back, "Thanks, Bal."
"I blame you, for everything that happened to me. And I hate you for hurting my friends all the time, I do. Doesn't mean I don't remember everything we went through, i'm not gonna forget that ever, okay? You listen to me." Bali said as her hand tightened on his chin, "If you need help, or want it, i'm gonna help you."
Rafe grabbed her wrist, "I wish you would have talked to me after you got back."
"Me too." she agreed, "I think you should talk to your dad. You can't stay here forever and sooner or later you're gonna need money."
"Hard to talk to him when him and Sarah are off in the bahamas." Rafe scoffed as he took a puff from the bong on the table. Bali's eyes flickered down at the coke before he placed the bong back on top of it.
"The bahamas?" Bali asked with a blink.
"Yeah, business thing. Which is stupid as hell because I know, like, a hundred times more business then she ever will." Rafe ranted as he laughed in disbelief, "This is all bullshit, Bal."
She thought a moment. His words changed everything as she inhaled with a nod, "I know, hey-"
She took his face in her hands again, "You know where to find me?"
"I won't need to, by yeah." he nodded a she let him go, "You're leaving?"
"I have too." she said back, looking around, "You pay off Barry and i'll come help you pick up this place. You hear me?"
Bali went for the door in a rush before he called for her, "Bal!"
"Yeah?" she asked with a impatient look.
"I'm really sorry." he said, eyes strung out on coke, "Like, you know that?"
Bali stared at him a moment, "I know, Rafe."
"Let me go! Get off of me!" Bali yelled as she fought in the doctors arms. She'd was brought in a few days ago after the overdose and was brought back, being monitored over the last few days. Her partners agreed to check her into a expensive rehab up north for a while just to make sure she could get better. Bali didn't know until ten minutes ago and fought against them.
"Bali!" Sarah called as she saw them dragging her down the hall.
"Get off of me!" Bali begged as she cried, fighting against the doctors grip harder, getting one in the stomach.
"Bal!" Rafe said as the elevator opened as he walked through. He hurried over as she was getting drug away. Bali broke free from the doctors and hugged him quickly. Rafe hugged her back, the first time seeing her since she was dead when he brought her outside to make it easier on the ambulance.
"They're trying to take me away. Don't let them take me." Bali sobbed as she held on tightly to him as the two nurses grabbed hold of her.
"Just give her a second." Rafe threatened them as his hands tightened on Bali, like hers had done his.
"Hey! You get rhe hell away from my daughter!" Dante yelled as he stormed over to the boy, "This is your fault."
"Let me go! Dad! Help me!" Bali yelled as they pulled her down the hallway, "I don't wanna go! I don't wanna go!"
"Bali, baby, i'm sorry." Dante apologized, "You need help."
"Rafe!" Bali called as she was lifted off the ground and brought down the hallway, "Don't let them take me! Rafe! Rafe, please!"
But he only stood at the end of the hallway with a hand through the gelled locks and pacing.
