"I'm nervous." Bali said as she rode in the boat, the water splashing on her shoulders while John B drove, "What if Kie fed Sarah to the sharks or Sarah strangled Kie with a jellyfish?"

The trio of boys looked at her with a crazy look. Bali shrugged, "I wrote a short horror book about the OBX."

"Lovely." Pope said as they neared the boat, "Well, they both look pretty alive to me."

Bali stood up and walked toward the edge of the boat as she looked up at Kie and Sarah, "Hello, ladies."

"You gotta admit, it was kinda funny." John B spoke out to the pair as he stopped the boat.

"Mastermind, huh?" Kie asked him with a raise of her eyebrows.

"I'm always plannin'." He said back with a cheeky grin.

"Some patriarchal bullshit." Kie spoke as she stood up and jumped onto the boat.

"Yeah, that sucked." Sarah agreed before doing the same.

"So, no girls night trio business going on? Because I can't handle watching another rom-com with these three." Bali spoke honestly, holding her hand out to help Sarah get onto the boat.

"Still love us though, right?" JJ asked hopefully.

"Which movie did you make them watch?" Kie asked, looking down at Bali.

"Friends with Benefits." Bali said back, offering her pair of sunglasses to Kie.

"Hey, you still hate me?" John B questioned as he looked up to Sarah.

"A little. We're both gonna get you back when you least expect it." Sarah crossed her arms with a nod of her head. JJ and Bali shared a hopeful look at Sarah's words.

"Watch your backs, boys and Bal." Kie spoke with a threatened look.

"To be far, I didn't know until John B beat on my door." Bali defended herself, "And I made you guys some sushi."

"Mhm." Kie said sarcastically, "To kiss up?"

"I welcome that challenge." Pope said to the pair with a raise of his eyebrows.

"Me too." JJ agreed.

"Not I, never I." Bali shook her head.

"So, did you guys, you know..." Pope trailed off.

"See any jelly's?" Bali finished for him.

"I was gonna say make up but that works too." Pope went along with her words. JJ put his sunglasses on Bali's head since she'd given hers to Kie.

"Reconcile our differences?" the tall girl questioned.

"Mm-mm." Sarah shook her head.

"Not even close." Kie agreed.

"But we're willing to work together." Sarah added to the words, giving the four a questionable look.

"You know what? That's victory." John B said in relief.

"Yup." JJ agreed.

"Better then us having to cover up a murder." Bali added.

"Wiggedy-wiggedy-wiggedy." Pope said as he twinkled his fingers with John B's. Bali smiled as she saw Sarah wink at Kie, holding her arms out. Sarah jumped off the deck and hugged her, stealing the head bands off her head. Kie hugged Bali too before throwing her in the water. Bali screaned before she hit the water, coming back up.

"Kiara." she said in disbelief, whipping her eyes of the water, "I made you sushi!"

"And i'm gonna eat that sushi and enjoy the revenge I got." she said, reaching down to get Bali out of the water, "See boys, this will be the rest of you soon."

"We should probably eat these before they get cold." Bali spoke to JJ as she looked down at the tuberwear of sushi. He gave her a odd look as she laughed at herself, "Good old fashion sushi joke."

"You guys got rope?" John B asked as he drove the van.

"Yup."

"Grappling hook?"

"No grappling hook, we're not batman."

"Pulley?"

"Check."

"Bali's sushi?"

"Check."

"Dark clothes?l

"Got it."

"Flashlights?"

"Check."

"All right, good. We're ready."

"Let's go."

"Remember when you and my brother, like, almost died here?" Sarah asked Bali with a laugh, "And my dad had to come get you guys."

"That was a bit of an exaggeration but absolutely, yes." Bali agreed with a laugh, "Your dad was so confused too, his face is what killed me."

"Wait, what happened?" JJ asked as he gave a odd look.

"In eighth grade Sarah and I snuck out and followed Rafe and his friends here. They always played a super intense game of hide and seek and we were never allowed to come." Bali said, stopping mid sentence while her and Sarah laughed loudly, "I thought it would be a good idea to sneak up on Rafe near the little statue garden. He attacked me because that's how this game worked and he didn't know Sarah and I were there. Three of the statues fell on us and we both had concussions and broken fingers."

"You could have told me this before I looked at the only statue standing left. It's probably cursed." Pope said to her.

"Was this when you fell in the porch?" Kie asked with a eyebrow raise, "I can like, pictures Wards face."

"It was hilarious!" Sarah explained as she laughed even harder, "He was so lost when he picked us up."

"It's not that funny." JJ mumbled as he went to crawl out of the back of the van, Bali's face fell.

"Wait, wait." John B stopped the group from moving as he stood in the open door, "I wanna say thank you, guys. Seriously. It means a lot to me that you're here tonight."

Kie smiled but rolled her eyes, "Always."

"Of course, man." Pope said softly as he gave a little hand shake.

"All right, we done with this circle jerk? Can we go do this?" JJ spoke up in questioning, looking at John B and holding the rope.

"Let's get the wheat in the water." Pope said as JJ jumped out of the van.

Bali followed close behind, giving him a nudge, "You good?"

"Why wouldn't I be?" he asked her, walking forward and jumped over tbe fense.

"After you." Sarah said.

"Ladies first." Kie hummed as she looked to Bali, taking her flashlight so she could crawl over.

"JJ." Bali said as she got to the other side, "Did I do something?"

"No, Bal, nothings the matter." he said, becoming annoyed with her. Bali didn't say anything else, mainly because Sarah was crawling over and dropped Bali her flashlight. Once they were all on the other side, they followed the same path they did earlier that day toward the crain house. Bali walked behind Sarah, Kie behind her. She looked past the blonde to see if JJ had turned around any to look back at her, finding he hadn't. Her thoughts were cut when the motion lights from the house came on, making everyone fall to the ground in a panic.

"Okay, so she has motion sensor lights." Pope confirmed as they all hid behind the taller bushes.

"We could, uh... move really slowly, maybe?" JJ suggested with a look at each of them.

"What?" Sarah asked in disbelief.

"That's not really how it works." Pope argued with a look of disbelief.

"Oh, shit. Let's through a rock at it." John B suggested with a grin.

"Are you smiling because you're proud of the idea or because you're trying to hid your embarrassment?" Bali asked him with a raise of her eyebrows, "It's a valid question and i'd love to know the answer."

"That's a really good idea. Let tbe axe murderer know that we're here." Kie went along with Bali's sarcasm.

"Throw a rock at it?" Pope asked in disbelief.

"You have a better idea?" John B went on.

"JJ's walking slowly idea was better then that." Bali commented, looking toward the blonde for a smile but he didn't even look at her.

"What about the breaker? In the circuit box on the porch." Sarah asked as the idea came to her, she looked at Bali, "That's were its at, isn't it?"

"I haven't been here in two years but yeah, it should be." she confirmed for her.

"No, no. You're not going in the house alone." John B shook his head her way.

"Watch me." Sarah said back daring like.

"Crain chops people into pieces." JJ hummed as he looked at the Cameron girl.

"If you believe that, but shes like what, 85?" Sarah questioned him.

"Something like that." JJ said back with a shrug.

"She's probably barely still kicking." she said his way.

Bali watched their interaction.

"I'll go with you." Kie spoke up as her and Sarah shared a look. Bali had a pang of jealousy hit her right in the heart. She didn't feel shadowed or pushed aside when she'd been with the pogues, not until now.

"Okay, we'll wait for your signal." Pope agreed.

"Do you guys need me?" Bali asked the pair of girls, hoping she didn't sound needy or desperate.

"I think we got it. We could use you as a look out though if you could stay out here?" Kie suggested. Bali glanced away with a nod of her head, picking at her nail polish.

"Okay, cool." Sarah nodded as her and Kie crouched down when they stood.

"Hey, be safe." John B stopped Sarah a second.

"We will." she nodded her head as they left.

JJ grabbed Popes face and turned it to him, "Be safe."

"I'll be so safe." Pope mocked him back, "I'll be safe for you."

"Can you guys stop? Stop." John B scolded the pair quickly, "I'm gonna kill you."

"Do you think they didn't want me to go?" Bali asked as she looked at John B.

"I think they just know you have a good eye, you know?" John B asked her, "We hired you to be a distraction, didnt we?"

"Yeah, I guess so." Bali said, though she didn't feel much better. Sarah was her only friend ever until she met the pogues, she didn't mean to get jealous and she wouldn't have if they'd been with anyone else. But being a shadow and seen as Sarah Cameron's best friend was all she'd ever felt until she started hanging around the pogues and they saw her for deeper. It was immature of her, but the feeling took over again with Kie and Sarah as close as they were now. Not to mention with JJ ignoring her now suddenly, Bali was use to being rejected by guys on the island if Sarah was around. But JJ was different then a cute guy on the beach or the new kid in class.

The light from the porch turned off quickly, making the four perk their heads up.

"They did it. Go time." John B grinned. JJ pulled his bandana over his mouth with a grin, "Bal, if you hear anything from the inside, you distract, got it? Buy us as much time as possible."

"Got it." Bali nodded as the three stood up. She grabbed JJ's hand as he looked down at her, "Be carful in there."

He looked down at her, "Yeah, I will."

He pulled his hand from her and walked off, leaving Bali to feel insecure about herself and her relationship in the bushes.
