14| A BUNCH OF FUCKING MEDICAL PROBLEMS
Aria listened for the shower to turn off from the kitchen. She'd gotten her's done rather quickly, wet hair with one of Rafes north face pull overs on. Her shorts were drying now, causing her to kick her bare legs back and forth from where she was sat on the counter. She was searching through her bag she brought over to the Cameron's, a look of panic across her face.
"What are you looking for?" Rafe asked her when he walked from down stairs, hair still wet and eyes setting on Aria on the counter. Her lack of words made him nudge her knee when he passed, "Huh?"
"My pills." she said back quickly, dumping her bag across the counter and go through all of it, "They were here last night and-"
She stopped, not finding the energy as she kept searching, panic setting in.
"Molly?" Rafe asked with a odd look, grabbing a cup from the high shelf.
"No!" Aria snapped suddenly, a bottle of advil flying everywhere as she flung her hands in annoyance. Rafe turned to her completely, watching her eyes shut and take a few deep breaths, "My medication for my seizures. It isn't here."
"You get seizures?" he asked, apart of him could remember her mom mentioning it when they were small, but wasn't sure.
"That's what happens when you use when your pregnant. You give your kid a bunch of fucking medical problems." Aria huffed, dropping her bag as she began going up the stairs for another search.
"Aria." Rafe called from the bottom step, looking up at her as she walked up the stairs, "Hey, i'm talking to you."
"I don't have time right now, Rafe." Aria spoke, continuing up before she heard a familiar rattle of pills. Turning, she looked down and saw the orange bottle in his hands, "You have them?"
"I threw your shoes away, they were inside." Rafe spoke as Aria came down the stairs quickly. He looked at the bottle, "Would you look at that? No need to panic after all."
Aria snatched them from his hands quickly, a lot harsher then planned but had already skipped a few days as was. Dry swallowing was the worst, but she did it anyways while looking at Rafe, "You threw my shoes out?"
"Worn out." he gave a shrug, nudging her ankle with his foot. Aria went to snap ad him again before Rafe walked toward the dining room, grabbing a box and holding it her way, "You needed new ones anyways."
Aria opened the box and found a new, shiny pair of combat boots on the inside. She smiled down at them, running a finger over the leather as she glanced at Rafe, "I prefer my sex work money in cash, actually."
Rafe laughed, pushing her head, "I can't stand you."
"I know." Aria hummed, pushing onto her tip toes to kiss Rafe on the lips a second, "Thank you."
He gave a shrug, "You can pay me back when we melt that cross down."
"And get our personal golf course with no geezers." Aria raised her eyebrows in a mocking way, "Can I stab you with the gold tee again?"
Rafe hummed down at her, "You really want to?"
Aria nodded her head. Rafe opened his mouth to say something before Wheezie poked her head into the dining room, "Can you help me with my suitcase?"
Rafe huffed, looking past Aria to Wheezie in the doorway. Her eyes gave Aria a odd look, "You have no pants on."
"They're drying." Aria gave her a odd look back, "You can't zip your own suitcase?"
"No, I need help." she argued back.
"I'm not your slave, Wheeze. I'm busy, okay?" Rafe waved her off quickly, waiting for her to leave.
"I can't get it to close. Can you just help me?" Wheezie huffed, glancing between the two, "What are you even busy with?"
"Adult stuff." Aria said back.
"Can you not do it yourself?" Rafe questioned his sister in clear annoyance.
"No. Please?" she begged, questionable eyes behind her glasses. The dryer rung, making Arias ears perk as she moved past Wheezie and headed to the laundry room. She could hear Rafe go back up the stairs, arguing with Wheezie in the slightest.
"Ow." Aria whispered to herself when the button on her shorts burnt her from being inside the dryer. She blew on it, sliding them up her legs and leaving the button undone for it to cool. Her eyes fell on a empty bag.
"Hey, Wheeze! There's more bags down here!" Aria yelled up the stairs, looking up the many steps, "You hear me?"
She hadn't heard anything, staying completely silent a second, "Of course not, little shit head."
Thumping came from Rafes room, Arias eyes looking down the hall and seeing his door open, "Rafe!"
She was met with nothing, walking toward the open door and looking inside. Her eyes scanned the room, finding nothing but a open window and dimmed lights. Rafe came down quick, Aria looking back at him, "You left your window open."
"How'd you get in there?" he asked, holding the key that he used to lock it.
"It was open." Aria shrugged, Rafe walking into the room with her and looking around, "Rose?"
"She doesn't have a key. Only I have the key." Rafe continued on with a faint look of stress across his face, "Someone was here."
Aria turned, meeting his eye in the dimmed room, "Want me to find her for you?"
Rafe nodded as Aria left the room quickly, her new shoes being worked in as she walked outside. Sarah didn't make it hard to find her, too nosy not to look in the back of the truck before driving off with it. Aria approached quietly, keeping a distance until Sarah went to come around the front again.
Sarah gave a gasp of panic when Aria grabbed her by the face, free hand latching onto her arm, "Hey there, princess. It's been a while."
"Aria, have I ever told you how much I like you?" Rafe smiled as he listened to Sarah yell from the other side of the room door, crashes of wine echoing from behind them, "You're good like that."
"Just fighting for what's mine." Aria shrugged, leaning against the door, "You and the gold. Sarah wasn't hard to lock up anyways, more talk then bite."
"Clearly." Rafe spoke as another wine bottle hit the door.
"You asshole! Rafe, let me out!" Sarah yelled from the other side, beating her fist against the wood.
"I'm not letting you out, Sarah. Not h until you calm down, okay?" Rafe spoke as he turned to lean his head on the door. Aria crossed her arms as she listened to Sarah yell back, "I'm trying to be civil here."
"What the hell is going on?" Rose asked, coming down the stairs.
"Oh good." Aria spoke, looking at Rose, "Maybe you can knock some sense into your psycho step daughter?"
"You're a psycho!" Sarah hollered as she listened to Aria.
"That's Sarah? Why is she locked in there?" Rose gapped, looking at Rafe quickly but side eyeing Aria every few seconds.
"Aria locked me in!" Sarah yelled as she listened from the other side.
Rose looked toward Aria before Rafe spoke up, "Yeah, I told her to."
"I would have done it anyways." Aria hummed as she kept her eyes locked with Rose's, a sarcastic smile to go with it.
"She's locked in there because sometimes you have to make the hard choices, right?" Rafe spoke, not making eye contact with anyone as he spoke, "She just didn't get that."
"Not at all." Aria spoke as an echo to Rafe, scaring Rose in the process, but she was well aware.
"You fail to understand that constantly, don't you? Huh?" Rafe yelled into the door toward Sarah, hitting it suddenly.
"Shut the hell up!" she screamed from the other side, hitting the door back.
"You need to calm down!" Rafe hollered at her.
"Rafe. Rafe." Rose spoke up, grabbing hold of his shoulders. Aria pushed off the wall as she waited to see what Rose would do, "Go upstairs. Take Aria. I got it."
"All right." Rafe nodded, looking back at the door.
"Just go." Rose repeated.
Aria hesitated, eyes darting to Rafe and back at the door. She held her hand out, "Come on, Rafe. Come on."
He took hold of her hand as they went up the stairs together.
