ㅤ𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐅𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐁𝐘, and Mia Stark was getting ready to attend the Swan-Cullen wedding. She had recently decided that she would prefer to be forever called Mia now, as to not have people confuse her with her grandmother, and the fact that nobody calls her Maria anyway.
She smiled as she pushed away her hair, looking at her reflection in her bedroom mirror.
A few weeks ago, she went on a road trip with Jessica, Angela, Eric, and even Mike. They decided on exploring the west coast, even stopping to check out Jessica's college. It had been surprisingly fun, and they mostly visited the warm beaches. Both boys ended up getting a little sunburnt.
As they made their way back to Forks, the conversation shifted from what they were planning on majoring in, to the fact that Bella and Edward were actually getting married in less than a month.
"You think she's pregnant?" Jessica asked with a scowl on her face and her arms crossed.
Mia laughed at her. She knows that Jessica, at this point, has already lost most interest in Edward, but was still holding a grudge. Not just because of her dislike on Edward choosing Bella, but because of how Bella treated her and their group of friends; Bella was not a good friend to any of them, especially Mia, who practically bent over backwards for the girl at some point.
"Hey, calm down," Mia playfully consoled. "I personally don't think she's pregnant. Knowing Edward, he'll probably have her wait until they're actually married."
"So they're rushing to get married just so they can bang?" Mike scoffed.
"Ah, well, maybe." She laughed at all their expressions that ranged from disgust to annoyance. "Those two were never really conventional anyway, so I'm not that surprised they're rushing into things."
Angela sighed. "Well, at least they're happy."
Now, she was just finalizing her makeup. She was wearing a simple light gold dress that was appropriate for a wedding. She was actually pretty excited considering she's never attended a wedding before, and with Alice Cullen assigned for the decoration—she and Rosalie have been corresponding regularly—she was looking forward to it.
She quickly smoothed down her dress before grabbing her purse and heading down the stairs.
Her Aunt Vic was at the bottom of the stairs waiting for her, also wearing a wedding-appropriate outfit. The older woman gave her a smile.
"You excited?" Her smile turned into a smirk at Mia's eyeroll. Having an MD-PhD in Psychology made her hyperaware of many little things, especially the tells of certain people. It wasn't that hard to figure out that her niece had dropped Bella Swan shortly after the Cullens came back, and she constantly made fun of her for it.
"You know I don't like them," Mia scoffed. "Mostly just gonna attend for the free food and champagne, plus the decorations so I can take pictures 'cause Rosie says it's gorgeous. So."
"I see you've got your priorities in check."
Rosalie was right; the venue was gorgeous.
Their decision to have it in the Cullens' backyard was also a pretty smart move. It was cheaper—though Mia doubted that spending a little bit more would put a dent in their fortune—and the scenery just added to the fairytale factor. Everything looked ethereal.
She was sat in between Jessica and Angela as they waited for the ceremony to start. Mia chuckled as Mike practically drooled over some of the Cullens' guests, whom are all obviously vampires as well with their out-of-this-world beauty. But from what she could tell, unlike the Cullens, the blonde females actually looked like they could be real sisters.
What are the odds an entire family was turned into vampires? She thought to herself. But then again, they all have enhanced beauty, maybe that's why they look so eerily similar.
"What a gene pool," Mike suddenly spoke up, eyes still trained on the three blondes. "They have got to be related. Seriously."
"Okay, one, that's creepy," Mia shook her head at him while glaring slightly. "Two, you've got a little drool there."
Jessica snorted at her words as she carefully looked around, observing everything and everyone before asking, "So, you think Bella's gonna be showing?"
Angela sighed while smiling at her friend. "Jess, we've been over this. She is not pregnant."
"She's horny, though," Eric commented, earning himself a slap on the shoulder from his girlfriend.
"Not funny."
"It is a little funny," Mike agreed.
"Boys, behave," Mia scoffed.
"Sorry, mom."
Soft piano music began playing, and all the guests respectfully stood up as Bella began walking down the aisle towards Edward. The groom was trying not to smile too much as he watched his bride approach, but the bride looked like she was about to puke by the grimace on her face. Mia could tell how nervous the girl is from a mile away.
Despite her animosity toward the Swan girl, Mia was brimming with happiness for her. She knew how much the two loved each other—in their own toxic way—and how perfect they are for each other. Soon enough they'll be spending an eternity together...literally. Just how they've always wanted.
She couldn't help herself from imagining her and Paul living the rest of their lives together too.
The entire thing was beautiful, and Mia had excitedly come up to the couple at some point to congratulate them, before spending the night away celebrating with everyone else. It was all perfect if not for a few altercations that occurred—namely Jacob coming back and getting a bit pissed—and eventually, Mia found herself driving back home with her aunt in the passenger's seat.
Victoria Jarvis had gotten a little too drunk, while conversing with many of the older adults there, especially Carlisle and Esme Cullen, who she's been acquainted with for a while after working with the former for a few years. She passed on many stories and ended up having one champagne glass too many.
"You're gonna be so hungover tomorrow," Mia laughed.
"Hey, don't laugh at me," Aunt Vic whined. "The champagne was wonderful, and so were the Cullens. You didn't tell me you were friends with them."
"Aunt Vic, I used to hang out with Bella, and by extension, the Cullens," she reminded. "Of course I'm friends with them."
"You're particularly close to the blonds." Despite being under the influence, she was still observant.
"Yeah, well, they're the only tolerable ones my age," kind of, she thought, "The others are just a little much for me."
Aunt Vic chuckled at her niece before seemingly sobering up. "Mia?"
"Hm?"
"In just a few weeks, you'll be off to college," the older woman said softly. Her eyes were unfocused as she stared ahead. "God, I think I'm gonna be emotional." She sniffled before continuing. "I'm so proud of you, you know? I may not be your real aunt but--"
"Aunt Vic, we may not be related by blood, but you are my real aunt. No one can change my mind," Mia cut her off. "I love you."
"Oh, I love you too." A tear trickled down her cheek. "I'm so, so proud of you. And I can't wait to see you take the world by storm."
Mia smiled, glancing at her. "Thanks, Aunt Vic."
It was silent for a few moments as Mia decidedly made sure to turn off her radio for the sake of not giving her drunk aunt a headache. She focused on the road, checking her sideview and rearview mirrors as often as she could. Eventually, they made it back home.
As soon as they entered through the door, Aunt Vic practically collapsed into the couch, groaning.
"Thank God I don't have to come in tomorrow."
"You're lucky then," Mia shrugged, making sure all the doors and windows were locked, before settling next to her aunt who moved so she was now lying down. "Don't forget, you promised to help me with packing tomorrow morning."
"Yeah, well, let's move that to the afternoon."
Mia laughed. "Alright."
Aunt Vic closed her eyes for a second, feeling herself slowly succumb to sleep. But then she realized, "Is Paul coming over to help tomorrow?"
"Mhm," Mia nodded. "He said he'd be over at around noon."
The older woman hummed. "He and you doing good?"
"What do you mean?"
"Mia, you'll be leaving for college, leaving Forks--"
"We've talked about it," Mia cut her off, giving her a tight-lipped smile in reassurance and slight annoyance before turning away. "No yet in complete detail, but enough for now. He understands my love for learning and need for personal growth, and I understand his responsibilities in the res. We're gonna make it work...and I'm really glad of how supportive he is."
Mia frowned when Aunt Vic didn't respond, and turned to see her snoring away.
She laughed silently. "G'night to you too, Aunt Vic."
The next morning, she found herself in the company of Paul...and the entire pack, including Emily, who was currently sifting through her walk-in closet excitedly. When she called her boyfriend early on in the day, she had simply asked him to help her with packing, to help with putting things in boxes, little things like that; she didn't expect him to call in reinforcements.
Even Leah was interested in looking into her closet, standing next to Emily while giving nods of approval here and there. Though the two never had any proper conversation, nor did they even hang out without the rest of the pack, the two held high respect for each other.
Mia looked around the room with an expression that can only be considered as love; never in her life had she imagined to have found family outside of the one she grew up in. She never really knew when she was going to be able to let down her hair, especially with the dangers of her father's work, which tripled when he became Iron Man. But even before they could even know her true identity, she was welcomed with open arms. And now she couldn't imagine life without any of them.
She knew she wouldn't be able to stay away for too long, that she'll visit the res as often as possible. But she tried her best to imprint all their faces in her mind; the serious look on Sam's face as he reprimanded Jared and Embry as they fooled around with her little inventions with matching mischievous grins; the concentration on Paul and Jacob's expressions as they tried to disassemble her some of the furniture she wanted to take with her; and Quil's horrified expression when he accidentally tipped over her vase of chrysanthemums. Luckily, the two women were just silently helping her fold her clothes into a suitcase.
Grinning to herself, she thought, Life couldn't be any better than this.
