"OH MY GOSH, SHE CAN'T SEE US ANYMORE!" Reggie whispered-shouted as Roxy walked down the stairs, she stopped at the bottom step when she heard his voice and paused. For a moment Alex just glared at Reggie before sitting down on the couch armrest. "Oh...right."
"Yep." Alex mumbled and looked towards the dark-skinned girl that ignored him "Julie...please." She finally Acknowledged his presence by looking up at him but clearly had an irritated look.
"I already told you, that I'm done with the band, and so is Roxy so don't try anything with her."
"Yeah, we know, all right?" Alex replied "But before you decide that forever, we just...we wanted you to know that Luke is an as selfish as you think he is."
"Yeah, you've got him all wrong." Reggie spoke up as a scoff escaped her lips, Roxy slowly approached the living room with a small smile.
"As much as I hate to admit it, they're right, Luke isn't selfish at all." She explained "Remember that song Emily....well I can show you who that's actually about."
β
A small house laid in a quiet neighborhood with only the chirping of birds echoing throughout the streets. Julie and the 3 ghost hid behind some plants staring into a window, inside was a couple and a boy, Luke. He sat on the counter just staring, with bloodshot eyes and a frown, he didn't speak, just admired their presents.
"So, Emily's his mom?"
"Yeah," Alex replied "Luke comes here a lot."
"He thinks we don't know but..we've been following him." Reggie added "All he does is just hang out like this and watch them, they never really do anything though."
"They're having cake..." Julie commented "Thats something."
"It's a..it's a birthday cake..for Luke." Roxy explained as she looked at the boy with a sad expression.
"I never knew Luke was hurting this much."
"It's even worse when he died, he...left on bad terms." Alex spoke "You know, his parents didn't want their 17-year-old in a rock band, so...he just left, he never got the chance to make up with them."
They watched as Luke's parents set up a candle, they lit it, and Luke blew it out as if he was really there.
"That's why Luke was so angry, if Trevor had given Luke credit for writing all the songs, then...his parents would've known his dream was worth chasing." Reggie sighed.
"They would've been so proud." Julie said as she wiped away the tears that stained her cheeks.
"We know how bad it hurts whenever someone that should've had your back...completely let's you down, we never meant to make you feel that way." Alex spoke.
"Julie, we love our band, and Luke does too. Please give us another chance." Reggie begged as he glanced at Roxy still staring back at the window. "Anne, please come back, Alex is seriously falling apart with you."
She laughed slightly and looked away from the window, "Alright."
β
The band all stood together in the garage with there instruments playing a new song they were gonna preform, the lively voice of Julie sang through the microphone as a flash appeared onto a chair. Luke quickly stood up at the sight of the dark-skinned girl and chuckled nervously.
"Woah, Julie." He mumbled and turned towards Roxy who grinned back at him "And Rox."
"Grab your guiar, we got work to do." Julie smirked as Luke looked at her shocked before grabbing his guitar and approached Julie.
"What made you change your mind?"
"I realized how important music is to all of us, and we've lost so much already, we can't lose this too." Julie replied with a sympathetic look.
"Thanks," Luke mumbled as he wrapped his quiet around him "Alright boss, where we at?"
Julie lightly chuckled at his comment, "Oh, and by the way, happy birthday." She sat back down and glanced at the band.
β
"Wait, wait!" Roxy whispered yelled before the boys could barge into Julie's room. "You have to knock, she could be changing or something."
"Oh...right..knock." Reggie muttered and stuck his arm into the door and knocked a muffled voice called out with a playful tone.
"What are you guys doing?" She chuckled as Reggie stuck his head with a crooked grin.
"We're being classy."
"Reginald get your ass over here." Roxy shouted and gripped his jacket, she forcefully pulled him back as he looked at her with a hurt expression.
"When did you get so strong." He muttered as Roxy laughed and open the door with ease, she had practiced and finally mastered it she turned around to face the boys before entering the room.
"You enter only when I saw so." All nodded their heads as Roxy entered the room and left the door open just a bit. "Sorry about them." The girl pointed towards the boys peeking their head into the room, she rolled her eyes as they waited for her like lost puppies "You can come in now."
"Great," Luke smiled and stared at Julie on the bed with confusion "What are you still doing here, we're going in like 20 minutes." Julie frowned at the comment as she stared down at her hands.
"I lied to my dad, so...now I'm stuck in my room all night."
"Yeah, but we were just at the venue, I mean, it's packed. Like, VIPS, managers, it's kinda crazy." Alex explained to her.
"What are we gonna do about my aunt, she's right downstairs." Julie argued back as a scoff escaped Roxy's lips the rest of the boys stayed silent as Julie looked at them with a raised brow. "What?"
"She gonna give her the talk." Reggie whispered
"Your aunt." Roxy scoffed again as she opened the window "Your hilarious Julie, seriously, your gonna let your aunt stop you from going to a gig that could change this hand. I don't think so. Let me give you a tip or two, never listen to adults, especially the ones that try to hold you back." She climbed out and grinned "You gotta break the rules sometimes, do things with asking for permission, your not going to be taking the stairs." She winked and dropped down.
"She grew up with a crazy dad, sneaking out was her professional job." Reggie explained as Julie smirked.
"Okay, let me get dressed, I'll meet you guys there."
β
"Ain't perfect, but I cant miss." The same colorful band full of girls dance on the stage with flashing lights as the band watched in awe, Alex especially. With warning he appeared on the stage, he looked just as confused as the the rest of the band but Roxy grinned widely,
"Some might say I sound conceited, they don't get that shine that I get. Some get jealous, they can't help it, they wish they were me, yeah!" Alex twirled and danced along with the girls with nothing but happiness filing his features. His blonde hair bounced and a confidence struck into him like never before until he came back to the others.
"You having fun out there?" Julie questioned as Alex cleared his throat with slight embarrassment.
"It's not my fault it's my....um.....it's my feet." He looked longing back at the stage as Roxy giggled and shoved him.
"You looked amazing, you stealer the spotlight."
"Put me back in coach." He mumbled and went back to the stage after the encouraging words of his best friend, he followed the dance moves and added a bit of his own personality into the movements. When the music stopped the last flashes for the last time Alex was out of breath and posing at the end of the stage with a wide grin.
A loud cheer came from Roxy as she applauded louder then anyone, but the only one her heard her was the boys beside her. "How does such a loud noise come out of that tiny body." Reggie mumbled towards Luke as he shrugged.
"Making me blush." Alex smiled as he finally teleported back to his band, he exhaled and looked towards his friends who stared at him. He cleared his throat awkwardly, "I was just..uh..doing that for you guys."
"Either way, you did so good!" Roxy giggled and hugged him "Seriously Alex, you should consider being a model."
"Well, I mean.." Alex rolled his eyes as he bashfully formed a sentence, "I don't really think I'm that good but y'know."
"Yeah, you can stop smiling now." Reggie laughed as Roxy slapped his arm.
"Don't ruin it Reg."
"Not gonna lie, that was kind of good." Julie admitted as her friend nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, I forgot why I hate her so much."
The leader approached with a snobby grin and a high-pitched voice, "Hi girls, umm....isn't it past your bedtime?" She sneered as Flynn turned to Julie.
"Now I remember."
The pink girl stared at Julie and smirked "If your looking for Nick, he didn't come."
Julie scoffed at the comment and slowly stepped up towards Carrie, "That's not why I'm here." A man on the stage grabbed the mic and stared down at his clipboard.
"Okay, it looks like we're closing the night with one more group, Julie and the...fat ones?" He Stated the band name is more of a question before walking off the stage with multiple people snickering and laughing.
"Are you fucking serious Luke." Roxy turned towards the boy who had a guilty look, Roxy had warned him multiple times not to do certain things that involves writing since he sucked at writing. It took her a couple of months to disfigure his handwriting and make it readable but to others it looked like scribbles.
"Yeah..my hand writing sucks."
"No shit." Roxy muttered as Julie laughed forcefully and walked up the stage with her microphone, she sat down on the piano bench and quickly corrected the name before finally playing the keys to the the song.
"Hearts on fire, we're no liars, so we say what we wanna say. I'm awakened, no more faking, so we push all our fears away. Don't know if I'll make it cause I'm falling under, close my eyes and feel my chest beating like thunder. I, wanna fly, come alive, watch me shine!"
With a single flash the band appeared in stage, just the same as the other times, "I got a spark in me, hands up if you can see. And you're a part of me, hands up if you're with me, now till eternity, hands up if you believe. Been so long, and now we're finally free."
It felt amazing being back with the band, everyone cheered as the band grinned at each other in excitement. It really gave you an adrenaline rush being up there and giving joy to the crowd and as Roxy fingers grazed through the strings to mimic a tune she felt the beat go into her chest and go along with her heart.
"Coming out like we're fireworks , marching in proud, turn it up loud, cause now we know what we're worth. We know we can make it, we're not falling down under, close my eyes and feel my chest beating like thunder."
Whenever she felt this excitement she couldn't help but stare at one person who related to her, Reggie, and he stared right back. They both sung into the microphone as they hit each note perfectly even if they stared deep into each others eyes.
"And I, wanna fly, come alive, watch me shine! I've got a spark in me, hands up if you can see, and you're a part of me, hands up if you're with me. Now till eternity, hands up if you believe, been so long and now we're finally free."
"Whoa-oa-oa-oa."
"I've got a spark in me, hands up if you can see, and you're apart of me. Hands up if you're with me, now till eternity, hands up if you believe. Been so long and now we're finally free."
"I've got a spark in me."
"I've got a spark in me."
"And you're a part of me."
"And you're a part of me."
"Now till eternity."
"Now till eternity."
"Been so long and now we're finally free."
"I've got a spark in me, hands up if you can see, and you're a part of me. Heads up if you're with me, now till eternity, hands up if you believe. Been so long and now we're finally free."
"Yeah!"
"Whoa-oa-oa."
"O-o-oh."
"Finally free, yeah! Oh!"
"Whoa-oa-oa."
"Been so long and now we're finally free!"
"....finally free...yeah."
With a quick bow they were disappeared just like the end of every performance. Roxy placed down her guiar and squealed as she jumped into Reggie's open arms, "Jesus Christ I feel amazing." She mumbled into his shoulder as he placed her down.
"Me too, you seemed a bit more energetic up there then usual." Reggie commented as Roxy shrugged.
"It's whatever, it just happens, I get random burst of energy then I come back to the regular Roxy that you boys know and love." She grinned sweetly and flashed so she appeared beside Julie, they rest followed behind. She sat on top of the bar and Reggie leaned between her legs as Roxy's hands instinctively to his hair.
"Hey, whoever Carrie was trying to impress is coming over here." Luke pointed out as a woman with curly hair and a clean beige suit approached with a kind grin.
"She looks all business." Alex commented
"Wait, who should do all the talking?" Reggie questioned stupidly as Roxy chuckled lightly while the others stared at him. "Right..Julie, Julie."
"Yeah." The dark-skinned girl mumbled and nervously fiddled with the her fingers.
"You got this." Luke encouraged as the woman finally arrived in finer if Julie and stuck her guard out immediately.
"Hi, I'm Andi Parker, and I would-" before she could finish her sentence a familiar tall man creeped up from behind with a strict look.
"Julie."
"Dad."
"It's time to go."
