CHAPTER TWELVE—
hyde vs life
"Jesus." Blake stared at Tyler after Wednesday practically dragged her away, back to Xavier's art studio were he was chained up. "Tyler's the hyde? But, he's so nice now."
Ajax waved her over.
"Tried to tell you it wasn't Xavier." Blake gave Wednesday a knowing look, she pulled her gaze away but it was clear she had been second guessing herself.
"Welcome back." Wednesday stared as Tyler began to come to.
"Where are we?" his eyes glanced around.
"Somewhere where no one can hear your screams." she told him in response, standing a few feet before.
"What's with the chains?" he yanked on them, looking around with a scared look.
"Are we sure it's him?" Blake whispered to Ajax. "This is kinda sad to watch."
"Wednesday seems pretty certain." he told her back. "At least we can get Xavier back, right?"
"Don't ask stupid questions." Wednesday stared at Tyler with narrowed eyes.
He stared at her like she had five different heads. "Wednesday, this is crazy. I'm a normie."
"That's only half true." she said in return, grabbing the old fencing photo to point to the woman on the far left. "Do you recognize her? Perhaps if I hadn't been distracted by my own mother hogging this photo, I would have noticed yours sooner. Your father fell in love and married an outcast. "
"Fine, my mom was an outcast." Tyler began defensive, Blake still couldn't grasp the idea of him, after all he'd said to her at the Gates mansion, that he was the so called hyde. "That doesn't make me a monster."
Then it hit her.
"According to her personal medical records-" Wednesday grasped the file on the desk.
"You stole her medical records?" Tyler stared in betrayal. Ajax noticed Blake's face, a million thoughts going through her head as she was clearly trying to piece them all together.
"Technically, Thing did." Wednesday corrected him. "He took them from your garage. Your father's quite the pack rat. Her postpartum depression triggered her condition."
"My mom had severe bipolar disorder." Tyler told her in return, his eyes all watery and red. Blake felt bad, she really did. But, it didn't change the fact that it made too good of sense. Too much connected, she just needed the perfect opportunity to ask him why.
"We both know that's a lie." Wednesday rose her voice at him. "She was a Hyde. And your father has been living his life in dread, never really quite sure whether or not she passed her condition on to you."
Tyler breathed heavy as he looked around. "Are you all really gonna stand there and let her do this to me?"
Blake avoided his eye when it they found hers.
"Uh, guys? Enid just texted." Ajax spoke up as he pulled his phone out. "Thornhill's suspicious. How long until he morphs into that...thing?"
"I'm not the monster." Tyler tried again.
"You are." Wednesday threw her bag on the table. "I saw it in a vision at the Weathervane."
"Wait, you're basing all this off some vision you had after we kissed?" he shot at her. "I mean, is that something you can trust?"
Blake gasped slightly. "Wednesday, you kissed a boy?"
"Blake." Wednesday stated to shut her up, pulling a saw from her bag as Blake's face fell.
"Wednesday, what are you doing?" Bianca was taken off guard by it.
"Just some light torture. Don't worry, I won't leave a mark." she answers, laying her different choices of weapons down
"Wednesday, hold on." Bianca looked to Blake in worry as she matched her eye.
"Wait. Are you being serious?" Ajax explained in shock.
"Wednesday, you can't hurt him." Blake gaped in shock. "What's that gonna do except get you in trouble?"
"There's only one thing that a Hyde understands." Wednesday stared at her, gripping the taser. "Pain."
They all yelled for her to stop and wait but she gabbed it right into the side of Tyler's neck as he shook in electrocution.
"That's it. I'm out!" Yoko announced loudly.
"Us too." her girlfriend followed her as Kent trained close behind.
"No. No, i'm done." Ajax backed off.
"Wednesday, I didn't sign up for this." Bianca looked to her as everyone left. "Let's go to Weems, explain everything."
"Weems won't help." she argued with her. "And Tyler here is always one step ahead of his father."
"Then you're on your own." Bianca shook her head, looking to Blake. "Blake? I'll lead you back."
Blake nodded. "Just one second? I won't be long."
She hesitated but nodded. Blake looked at Wednesday. "Can I have a second alone with Tyler?"
"One minute tops." Wednesday hesitated. "I will count."
She left as Blake looked at Tyler, he blinked as he stared up ad her. "Blake, you have to help me. I'm not the monster!"
"Tyler." Blake kneeled down informt of him and put her hands on his so her cold would cool him down after that electrocution. "I know it was you that left me that box. With the serum, for the dance. You told me about your Mom, how you wished you'd be able to talk to her again. Tell me why you did that for me."
He shook his head. "Let me out first."
"I can't help you if you don't tell me." Blake stared up at him. "Why would you do something like that for me? You don't even know me, especially back then before I even got a chance to talk to you."
"Because." he shook his head, Blake saw a couple tears fall from his eyes. "It was too late for her. I didn't have it yet, I didn't know how to make it. You died not long after she did, but I was ready then. I was able to make it in waves."
"What is it? How was I alive for one night?" Blake leaned in closer with a hopeful stare. "Tell me."
"It's two things. One's an injection that i've been putting in your body's arm, to keep you healthy. The other is a work in progress, it's harder. That's why I only was able to give it to you for one night, to make sure it was enough to work." he stared up at her as Blake's face filled with confusion. "It's hinted with magic, a kind that no one is suppose to know about."
"How do you?" Blake asked, he stared at her. Blake gave him a begging look. "Don't make me stay this way forever, Tyler."
"Someone helped me." he shook his head. "It was suppose to bring my Mom back but her spirit didn't linger. Not like yours. When she told me you were haunting the castle, I don't know, I figured why not let someone else have a chance? Your parents were normies."
"She." Blake nodded. "Who's she?"
Tyler shook his head. "I have more, Blake. We made more, not enough yet but there's more. You can have it. But, you have to help me."
Blake held her head up more. Tyler begged her with his eyes before he did his tone. "Don't let them kill me. Please."
Blake hesitated. "You'll tell me where it is?"
"If I make it through this, it's yours." he promised her, blinking back as her saddened state. "You have my word."
Hyde or not, Blake knew that if she kept Tyler alive, she'd be able to live again. So, she'd let Wednesday do whatever she wanted, she'd let him get arrested and caught. But she wouldn't let anyone kill him, even if it was the right thing to do.
