if the other wires caused instant explosion, they only had two chances... or pretty much only one.

countless minutes were left until the explosion, so yeona decided to take this matter into her hands and moved to the ticking machine.
jackson stood right beside yeona, he put his hand on her shoulder in a reassuring manner, trying to tell her that whatever happens, everything will still be alright.
jimin leaned over hoseok's body and closed his eyes tightly while taehyung awkwardly stood beside them since he didn't exactly have time to get close with those two, especially jimin.

"come here, you roach." jimin pulled taehyung by his shirt and threw his hand over him embracing him in a hug along with hoseok.

yeona studied the wires for a minute, trying to figure out where they lead to and how they overlapped, but having zero knowledge in bomb defusal, it didn't help... this ended up being a simple game of luck.
yeona considered herself quite unlucky, to be honest, her parents left at a young age, she lost a brother and got into a gang... her life just couldn't be used to describe a 'lucky' person's life.

she grabbed the green wire and noticed that there was only a minute left. yeona closed her eyes and rapidly pulled on the green wire expecting the worst, but nothing happened. she opened her eyes and looked at jackson.

"it was the wire that does nothing... you've got one last chance, YJ." jackson said quietly and licked his lips nervously.

yeona took a deep breath and grabbed the white wire. she hesitated before letting her gaze fall onto a yellow wire right next to it. it was her favorite color. yeona smiled thinking about how ironic it was: her favorite color was a color of happiness yet she hasn't experienced true happiness since a very young age. come to think of it, yeona reminded herself of the night she found out jungkook was her brother. it made her realize that she actually has experienced happiness that day, true happiness.
a lone tear escaped her right eye and she blinked it away as she smiled sadly, pulling on the yellow wire.

5... 4... 3... 2... 1-

yeona opened her eyes and saw the timer on the bomb stop when there was exactly one second left.

"holy shit." she exhaled loudly letting her hand fly to her chest. she felt her heart beating with wild speed as she slid onto the floor in relief.
"I did it..."

"are we alive...?" taehyung asked.

"yeona, you did it!" jackson smiled widely and rushed over to her to give her a tight hug. for some reason jackson rarely called her by her real name and it felt a little weird yet calming to hear him say it. yeona hugged back with a smile.

"I already started thinking about the color jungkook would choose for my coffin." taehyung muttered with a little smile.

"well, we still need to escape this room." jimin spoke up. "but at least we're alive... thanks, yeona."

"thanks, yeona." hoseok said with a little smile on his bruised lips.

yeona and jackson stood up, both smiling. yeona noticed the way jackson looked at her... his gaze felt so warm and loving, yet currently it was mostly filled with pride and gratefulness.
"now we have to escape this darn basement." yeona said with a hint of anger in her voice, eyebrows furrowed as she approached the door.

before she could do anything, it unlocked.
"well, hello, traitors." soojin said as she walked into the room along with over a dozen men dressed in black. each one had either a gun or a knife. soojin held out her gun in front of her and walked in, looking around.
"I was seriously hoping the bomb would kill you, but I'm glad I was prepared for a different outcome."

"how did you-" yeona started but was interrupted by soojin.

"I think you should know by now that I know everything." she said. "I never trusted you nor your pathetic friend jackson."

"the only pathetic one here is you." jackson rolled his eyes at her words.

"how's your dear hubby?" soojin asked eyeing hoseok. "still alive? goodness gracious y'all are immortal or what? in any case, I came here to end this, so you can either give up and I'll kill you now, or you can fight, and you'll die a little later."

"you're so sure you'll win?" taehyung grabbed his knife and pointed it at soojin as he started slowly walking up to her. "sorry, but I was taught to never give up no matter what."

"you can write an essay about that, sounds inspiring." soojin replied sarcastically and pointed her gun at him.

"fuck off, jizzmonger!"
a loud gunshot was heard that shot soojin's gun out of her hand. everyone turned towards the door only to see jungkook, jin and namjoon with guns.

"what did you just call me?" soojin eyed jungkook who was the one to shoot and turned around to pick her gun up.

"yah!" jungkook yelled and started running towards soojin, but before he could do anything, the men attacked him. namjoon and jin ran into the crowd, trying to help jungkook out.
yeona looked at jackson before going in to fight as well.

jimin left hoseok behind a closet and gave him a reassuring smile before running off with taehyung. the fight was obviously unfair, numerous gunshots echoed, loud screaming and sounds of death echoed through the basement.
taehyung grabbed a chair and slammed it across some man's face. he took the gun that fell out of his hands and rushed towards soojin who was busy fighting with namjoon. he wanted to attack from the back but soojin turned around just in time with a forceful kick, sending taehyung to the other end of the room. taehyung grabbed onto his head and caught sight of hoseok who looked at him with fear. taehyung decided to stay close to hoseok and be there for him since the elder couldn't fight for himself.

the battle seemed to go on for so long and only a few of the men were dead. the simyeon gang was truly strong and the fact that they outnumbered them didn't help at all.

jackson got his shoulder shot and he fell onto the ground with a loud scream.
yeona was quick to kill the guy who did that to jackson, but before she could ask if he was alright, she was attacked by soojin.
yeona liked battles, but definitely not one without much progress from her side. she knew soojin so little that it would never look like she was her boss, she was always so secretive about things... she talked, but not enough, it left yeona guessing if there was more to soojin's words.

"witch." yeona mumbled before attacking soojin.
soojin was quite old, but she was strong and clever. yeona never saw her fight, so this was a new experience yet she definitely didn't enjoy it.

yeona pulled on her hair in the middle of the fight earning a loud screech from soojin. they kept on fighting until soojin kicked yeona in the stomach and yeona lost balance, falling onto the ground. she noticed that most of soojin's men were dead and smiled, getting back up in hopes of ending soojin right here and now.

but before yeona could do anything, soojin grabbed a knife from the table and sliced it through yeona's stomach making her let out a raspy moan of pain.
jungkook immediately turned to the sound only to watch yeona crash down with blood covering her arms which were wrapped around her stomach.

"yeona!!!!!" jungkook yelled and everybody froze, watching jungkook rush over to her.

"oh, how cute." soojin said with a wicked smile on her face. namjoon looked at jungkook with pure confusion, after all yoongi and him were the only ones who didn't know who yeona really was.

"yeona...?" jackson mumbled weakly, on the verge of losing consciousness.

"y-yeona..." jungkook flipped her body over carefully and gently removed her hair from her face. "yeona, can you hear me?"
jungkook grabbed yeona's bloody hand, taking it off her stomach. he placed his hand on top, hoping it would stop the blood, but knowing deep inside that there was nothing he could do to help.
"yeona... please stay strong... please wait a little, I'll save you, I'll save you this time. I promise."

"d-don't promise." she whispered and grimaced from the pain. "you know I hate promises."

jungkook couldn't help but cry out loud as he watched yeona slowly die in his hands.

"love... any kind of love..." soojin spoke up. "should never exist in the same place as 'work'. they are just not meant to be, it ends up being tragic."

"you knew, didn't you?" jungkook asked, his eyes full of tears and anger. "you knew it all."

"about what exactly? you two being siblings?" she laughed. "of course, I did. I thought you would realize it earlier, but oh well."

"yeona..." jungkook turned back to his sister, he hoped there was still a way to save her.
"please don't leave me."

"j-jungkook..." she muttered right before coughing up some blood. jungkook wiped it off and looked her in the eyes. "take this."
yeona gave jungkook some type of key which was tied to a red string.

"what is this?" jungkook asked.

"you wanted us to talk s-so badly." she said in a barely audible voice. "I wanted it to. but I guess it wasn't meant to happen. this..." she looked at the key. "this will compensate the conversation we wanted to have."

"I don't understand..." jungkook sobbed. "yeona...? yeona...?"
his hand flew to her wrist to check the pulse. he felt his heart sink to the pit bottom of his stomach when he realized it was gone. there was no pulse.
