FOR THE SHORT WHILE, Rosie almost felt that her life could finally start to become worth living. Her sister sat next to her with an opened can of corn and devouring it. It felt out of place having Mariana next to her. For the longest time, Rosie had lost hope that her sister was alive she hadn't been able to find her all those years. She didn't know if Vince was alive either so she lost hope. She thought she was the last Adams standing until now.
"Are those your friends?" Mariana asked pointing to the three boys who walked out of a tent with warm jackets on.
She had pointed at Minho, Frypan, and Newt. Rosie nodded, "yup. They were in the maze with me." The younger sister hummed in response before Rosie added on, "you wanna meet 'em? I think they'll be real shocked when they find out who you are."
"Sure." Mariana stood up before looking inside the can she was eating from and realized she hadn't finished it. "Jereโ"
"I'll finish it." Jeremy muttered standing up and taking the small can out of Mariana's hands.
"Thank you!" Mariana responded trying to hand him the spork she was using for it.
Jeremy shook his head replying, "ew, get that away from me. I don't want your germs."
A scoff left Mariana's lips as she placed her hands on her hips, "excuse me?"
The boy shrugged his shoulders finishing up the leftover corn by grabbing another spork, "you heard me."
Maya rolled her eyes at the interaction between the pair. "Ana I told you to ignore him. He's always like that with his food." Maya explained.
Rosie raised her eyebrow in surprise as she had short memories of him sharing his spoon whenever she had a craving of whatever food was on his plate. The boy had even spoon fed her out of the spoon he had been using. Rosie glanced over to him quickly getting his attention as Jeremy had glanced over to her too.
A little smile curved on his lips knowing what she was thinking about. The boy resumed to finish the can of food ignoring Mariana's comments. "Come on, we'll be back soon so you can continue arguing with him." Rosie commented pulling Mariana's arm.
The two sisters walked over to the three boys who were looking around to see what they could do or where to go. Frypan smiled once he spotted Rosie walking towards them.
"Guys!" Rosie called them as she jogged over to them. "Guess what!"
"What?" Frypan asked curiously.
Rosie glanced to Minho and then Newt already feeling Newt's off energy. "This is Mariana." Rosie introduced them. "Mariana this is Frypan," the girl shook his hand, "Minho," shook his too, "and Newt."
Mariana furrowed her eyebrows at the mention of Newt's name holding onto his hand. "Newt?" She repeated grabbing the boy's attention when she didn't let go of his handshake.
Newt shifted uncomfortably, "yeah?"
"Sorry." Mariana let go remembering a vague memory. "I thought you were someone I knew."
Rosie cleared her throat placing her hands on Mariana's shoulders, "anyways, I wanted to introduce you guys to Mariana, my sister."
The eyes of the three boys grew wide hearing the words leaving Rosie's mouth. "No way!" Newt acknowledged, "are you serious?"
"Are you sure? Y'all don't look that similarโ"
"Shut up, Fry." Minho cut the boy off before putting a smile on his lips, "you two are sisters?"
Frypan was right. They didn't have much resemblance to each other. They had the same skin color and colored eyes and hair but their facial features were different. Rosie resembled more of their mother and Mariana more to their father.
"I know. We've never looked that similar. She looks more like our dad and I look more like our mom." Rosie explained, "we've been apart from each other for a very long time."
"Well just to let you know, that out of the group I'm Rosie's favorite." Frypan commented.
Minho let out a scoff, "what? That is so not true. Me and Rosie have a strong bondโ"
"I don't think so buddy, I talk to her moreโ"
Mariana raised her eyebrows at the two boys in an argument. Newt stood quietly watching the two banter. "Apologies, they're always arguing." Newt apologized putting his hands inside the pockets of the jacket he was wearing. "Where you also in the trials?"
The young girl shook her head responding back to his question, "no, I was with my father the past few years and now I'm here with the Right Arm."
"Your dad's here?" Newt asked.
The two girls shook their heads as Mariana replied, "no, he passed away two years ago."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Newt sympathized glancing towards Rosie who avoided his eye-contact. The boy knew she had too much on her plate and now with the news that her father was deadโit was probably crushing her. "I'm here for you, Rosie."
Rosie nodded acknowledging him and replying short as she didn't know if he was being sincere or putting on a performance, "thanks."
"I know we're not on the best of terms at the moment but I am here for you." Newt added, "we were friends before anything, so if you need someone to talk to, I'm here. Always."
ย ย ย Mariana looked at both of them as she didn't know what he was talking about. She didn't know the two were in a relationship or used to be in one. So she awkwardly stood there as Rosie nodded.

ย ย ย Samadhi had a strange look on her face as she observed everyone around her. Her fingers fidgeted with each other as she could feel something wrong but she didn't know what it was.
"Watcha thinkin'?" Mara asked catching onto Samadhi's awareness as Jessie was off to talk to Minho.
"Something's off." Samadhi muttered informing Mara, "similar to when they ambushed us a few hours ago."
Mara nodded looking around trying to pick up on what Samadhi was feeling but couldn't. "Just keep me posted. If you don't think they're safe, we'll leave. Okay?"
Samadhi shook her head looking over to where Jessie was headed, "I don't think it's them though."
"Hey!" Jessie came up from behind Minho who sat alone on a chair. Her hands ran up to the back of Minho's shoulders for a quick second before removing them.
ย ย ย "Oh, hi!" Minho replied feeling the goosebumps from her delicate touch.
ย ย ย The girl smiled as she asked, "where the guys?"
ย ย ย Minho motioned with his head making Jessie turn to the side spotting Frypan and Newt. "They're grabbing some food." Minho responded.
ย ย ย "Oh." Jessie mumbled not knowing how to keep the conversation going. "So, how are you?"
A little chuckle left Minho's lips, "I'm okay, you?"
"I'm also okay."
There was a brief pause of complete silence between the pair before Minho broke it. "Did you need something?" He asked.
"Oh! Right!" Jessie replied remembering why she had gone up to him in the first place. "I came over here to thank you."
Minho furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, "for what?"
A smile showed up on her face as she answered, "for keeping me safe and for not giving up on me when I couldn't keep going. It means a lot that you carried me instead of leaving me behind."
A little smile formed on his lips as he replied back, "I'd do it all over again. I'll always be here to save you."
"Thank you." Jessie spoke before placing her lips on Minho's cheek leaving a gentle kiss. A soft kiss that caused an immense amount of feelings in Minho's body.
Minho could feel his face heat up as he struggled to speak. "I, uh, yeah, uhโI'll, no problem. I'll, I'll see you around."
Jessie smiled replying, "not if I see you first."
Minho nodded, sitting there dumbfounded as he watched Jessie walk away. It took him by complete surprise what she had done and he had no idea how to reply. Frypan and Newt had stupid smirks displayed on their faces as they passed the curly headed girl.
ย ย ย "Hey Jessie," Frypan greeted as Jessie waved at him and Newt before walking to her two friends.
ย ย ย The two friends immediately bursted out laughing once they reached Minho who rolled his eyes at the two. "Shut up, shanks!" Minho expressed, "it ain't funny!"
ย ย ย ย "Man, your face was completely red!" Frypan exclaimed, "it was bright red like a tomato!"
ย ย ย "You like her a lot, huh?" Newt asked
ย ย ย ย Minho shook his head before sighing, "I don't know. There's this weird feeling in my stomach like some flutters. I get nervous every time she's around. I can't even speak when she talks to me. Did you feel like that with Rosie?"
ย ย ย ย Newt stayed quiet for a good second before nodding as he hadn't told the boys yet about the breakup. "At the beginning, yeah. I almost threw up one time from all the nerves I was feeling. She used to make me feel all warm and nervous around her."
ย ย ย "Used to?" Minho asked standing up from the chair he had found.
ย ย ย "Well that's how that works right?" Frypan asked before Newt could respond. "It's the nerves you get of wondering if she likes you or not. Right?"
ย ย ย The blonde boy shrugged his shoulders as he followed Minho and Frypan who headed up the small hill they wanted to get up to, "I guess."
ย ย ย ย "Can I ask you a question, Minho?"
ย ย ย ย "Sure."
ย ย ย Frypan rubbed his hands together trying to keep his body warm as he was the last one to make it up the mountain, "why Jessie? Why not one of the other girls? Or any of these girls here?"
ย ย ย "Why anyone else when she exists?" Minho spoke without thinking much.
Newt listened to his response why anyone else when she exists and he knew well that what Rosie and him have needed a break. Because he didn't feel that way about her. He didn't think of her first in situations anymore. She wasn't a priority anymore. And he wasn't a priority to her either.
"You guys finding everything okay?" Rosie asked from the bottom of the small mountain.
ย ย ย "Yeah, we're okay, Rosie." Frypan replied
ย ย ย "Do you guys mind if I go up there?" Rosie asked.
"Come on up," Newt responded receiving a small nod by Rosie who made her way up the mountain.
Rosie sat herself in between Newt and Minho who made space for her. "Where's Thomas and Teresa?"
"Thomas is still with the doctor and Teresa has been over there by herself. She said she wanted to be by herself." Frypan explained as he had pointed to a sitting Teresa by herself on another mountain.
The Latina looked towards the distance spotting Teresa and for some odd reason a bad feeling rose upon Rosie's stomach. "Is she okay?" Rosie asked.
"Don't know. She hasn't really talked to anyone since we got here." Minho answered. "I think she'll be okay. It's Teresa, you know?"
All Rosie did was hum after his response which caused a response, "I know you don't like her, Rosie, but she's not a bad person. She's one of us. She's going through the same stuff we're going through." Frypan tried to explain.
"I know." Rosie responded quickly to defend herself, "but she justโshe gives me a bad feeling and I can't get it to go away. But if you guys trust her, then what can I do? You know? Let's just hope she doesn't kill one of us or something."
The boys chuckle after her last sentence. "Doubt she'll do that." Minho replied.
Rosie let out a quick scoff, "I bet you didn't think Jessie was capable of hurting someone did ya?"
Minho opened his mouth to speak but closed it after a few seconds as she was right. The boy thought Jessie was an innocent girl with bad luck. But once he saw her in action trying to defend Rosie, he then knew she wasn't weak.
"Thought so." Rosie added, "guys, we're in the midst of a life or death situation with the disease. Most girls are going to know how to at least defend themselves. Any person is capable of hurting someone."
"That's the shuck up part about it all ain't it?" Minho asked using his hand as holder to rest his chin.
ย ย ย "What is?" Rosie asked.ย
ย ย ย Minho turned to look over at her, "people want to hurt us for a cure."
ย ย ย The four of them stayed quiet looking over at the Right Arm camp. They all were thinking about the same thing. The chance of being taken back.
ย ย ย Rosie swallowed hard feeling her eyes become watery as she tried to hide the tears by wiping them away. She didn't want the guys to notice but Newt noticed. "Hey, what, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" Newt asked
ย ย ย Newt brought her close to him wrapping an arm around her to hug her for comfort. Rosie shook her head as she spoke, "I just, I miss Gally." Rosie let out moving away from his hold, "and I know you guys hate him because of what happened with Chuck. But, I, I haven't felt the same since I left him laying there to die by himself."
ย ย ย Newt rubbed his jaw before responding, "I don't hate him. It's just a sour thing, you know?"
ย ย ย "Neither of them deserved what happened to them," Minho added onto Newt's response. "I still think about it a lot, Rosie. I was the one that threw a spear into his chest but Gally wasn't himself when it happened."
ย ย ย Rosie looked down at her wrist that had Gally's bracelet still barely holding on. It was filled with dirt and the strings were everywhere. It was the last thing she had of him and she feared to ever take it off even with the dirtiness of it all.
ย ย ย "I wish he was here." Rosie mumbled, "I wish he could see all of this. I wish Ander could have seen this tooโ"
ย ย ย The girl stopped talking as the four turned their heads to see Thomas walking up. They stayed quiet as Thomas sat down.
ย ย ย "I wish Alby could have seen all of this." Newt was the first to speak.
ย ย ย "And Winston." Frypan added in.
ย ย ย "And Chuck." Thomas commented fumbling with the gift Chuck gave him.
ย ย ย Newt looked over at him trying to comfort him, "he'd be proud of you, you know Tommy."
ย ย ย "Yeah," Thomas mumbled.
ย ย ย "Hey Aris!" Frypan yelled to the boy sitting from a distance with Sonya and Harriet.
ย ย ย "Hey guys!" Aris waved for a second before going back to his conversation with the two girls.
ย ย ย Frypan smiled, "I kind of like that kid."
ย ย ย "Yeah, still don't trust him though."
ย ย ย The group let out short laughs after Minho's comment trying to lighten up the mood. Rosie rubbed her hands together as she didn't have gloves on.
ย ย ย "Hey, where's Teresa?" Thomas questioned
ย ย ย "She went up there." Newt pointed towards the larger hill. "She's been there for quite awhile though."
ย ย ย Rosie added onto Newt's statement, "I think you should go check up on her. See if she's alright."
ย ย ย Thomas nodded as he stood up, "yeah, good idea. I'll be back." Thomas headed down the small hill and made his way up to where Teresa was.
ย ย ย "Hey, Rosie," Frypan spoke up, "how does it feel to have your memories back?"
ย ย ย "I don't have all of them back." Rosie explained, "I can't remember the majority of my childhood but it is nice to remember people."
ย ย ย "What about Mariana?" Newt asked
ย ย ย Rosie shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know her very well. The last time I saw her she was like 10 years old. She seems like a good kid though."
ย ย ย "Rosie!" Jeremy called for her waving to get her attention with Mariana standing next to him. "Get over here!"ย
ย ย ย "Going!" Rosie yelled as she stood up. "I'll see you guys later."
ย ย ย "See ya." Frypan responded while the other two boys nodded.
ย ย ย Rosie walked down the hill looking up at the sky in the midst of turning dark. The girl made her way to the group of three people who were waiting for her. She could hear them laughing together and Rosie was happy for the brief second.
"What is that?" Mariana pointed up at the dark sky and from a far distance seeing white dots.
ย ย ย "What is what?" Rosie asked as she reached the small group and sat down next to her sister.
Laughter was cut short from the group of reunited friends when they spotted dots approaching closer. Mariana looked up realizing it was helicopters getting closer to where they were stationed. Jeremy furrowed his eyebrows in confusion quickly standing up and tapping on Maya's shoulder who also stood up. She shook her head already responding to what Jeremy was about to ask if she knew who those helicopters belonged to.
"Jessie!" Mara yelled trying to grab the girl's attention as Samadhi had started to bleed from her ears. "Rosie!"
Rosie stood up hearing her name being called. The girl spotted Mara trying to help Samadhi who was on her knees covering her ears. Jeremy brought his walkie talkie attached to his shirt close to his lips as he talked with the helicopters going over them, "anyone know about the helicoptersโ"
Before Jeremy could finish his question, his eyes widened watching one of the helicopter doors opening and guns were displayed. Before Rosie could do anything, the feeling of a sudden blow to the chest pushed her. Out of instinct, Rosie closed her eyes taking the hit as she felt her feet leave the ground.
ย ย ย The girl rolled and landed rather harshly on the ground finding it difficult to breathe. Her hands moved quickly feeling the rough texture of the dirt as she opened her eyes trying to adjust to the scene. Both hands reached for her throat coughing up whatever she felt stuck in her throat. The sounds of screams and yells started to sync in Rosie's ears adjusting to the commotion.
ย ย ย Her feet guided her up as she looked around trying to figure out what was happening. One of the cargo boxes that stored guns and ammo were on fire. The people she had been with were nowhere to be seen. They were all pushed by the harsh impact of the explosion.
ย ย ย Where were her friends? Where was Jeremy or Mariana? Newt or Frypan?
ย ย ย ย A body flew close to her and Rosie's eyes widened as she recognized who it was. Rosie dropped down to her knees rolling the girl over to see an unconscious Celia. The only thing Rosie could think of was to shake her. So she did and continued to do so as she screamed her name at her.
ย ย ย ย "Celia!" Rosie screamed as she wasn't physically able to get her up. Rosie glanced up towards the sky to see soldiers zipling down helicopters.
ย ย ย ย Eyes opened in fear as Celia was met with Rosie. "Where's Jac?" Celia asked as the first thought was Jac. Celia didn't care about her own health or safety all she wanted was to know where Jac was.
ย ย ย ย "I don't know! I don't know! But we have to go!" Rosie exclaimed pulling Celia up. "We have to hide! I don't know what the hell is going on!"
ย ย ย ย The two girls searched around trying to run somewhere safe but everywhere was either burning or people running away. "Your friends!" Celia pointed to the three girls who stayed huddled together pointing their guns at soldiers who ziplined down the helicopters.
ย ย ย ย They ran towards them but were immediately stopped by another strike landing in between the three girls and Rosie with Celia. Rosie felt her feet leave the ground once again and a harsh push caused her to collide with one of the stacked metal cargo boxes.
Rosie fought to keep her eyes opened even though she was seeing black dots in front of her eyes. Everything around her moved rapidly and back and forth. She moved back and forth. With her hazy vision, Rosie could see a familiar blonde girl running towards her.
"Rosie!" It was Sonya who had reached her. "Can you hear me?" Before Rosie could even try to reply back her eyes shut closed.
Shuffling of feet woke Rosie up especially when she could hear the sound of a scanner close to her head. "Property of WICKED. She's Group A. Subject A53." An unknown voice stated. "This is the subject Chancelor has been looking for."
ย ย ย Opening her eyes, the girl was surrounded by three WICKED soldiers who immediately noticed her waking up. Rosie lifted herself up with her elbows trying to make a run for it but was caught quite easily as a pain forming in her stomach caused her to fall down to the ground. A few feet away laid Sonya on her front unconscious with wires tying her hands.
ย ย ย "I don't think so, little girl." A wicked soldier spoke, "you're not going anywhere this time."
ย ย ย Rosie swallowed as she threw herself at the man's legs tumbling him down to the ground. She wasn't able to do anything else as the two other soldiers lifted her up causing her to scream in pain as one of them grabbed her by the side of her stomach. The two soldiers dropped her to the ground helping the other one up.
ย ย ย ย Another painful yelp left her lips as she reached the ground and winced when she touched her stomach. The girl lifted her shirt up seeing the large gash on the side of her stomach. A part of her skin was abraded from the impact. Pulling it down, Rosie tried to figure out what to do while trying to ignore the pain.
Before she could even think to do anything, Rosie covered her ears, shut her eyes closed, and laid herself completely on the ground because of the sound of gunshots severely close to her. In a matter of seconds, Rosie could feel a pair of hands pull her up under her arms. The girl stood up on her feet looking around her surroundings to see small explosions around her. The three soldiers who had a hold of her where on the ground in silence. Screams and cries were coming from all sides of the campsite. A few of the Right Arm soldiers were doing what they could do to hold WICKED down but were being outnumbered.
ย ย ย "Get behind me!" Jeremy yelled pushing the girl behind him as he used his shotgun to aim as the oncoming soldiers who were trying to get a hold of Rosie. Rosie watched three more soldiers go down one by one as the boy turned around to face her. Jeremy's right hand flew to Rosie's face as he searched for any blood on her face. "Are you alright?"
Deja vu. Rosie was experiencing deja vu with Jeremy. She had gone through this exact moment before. His hands felt the same way they did and the look on his faceโit was exactly the way she had remembered it.
"Rosie!" Jeremy called out as nothing came out of Rosie's lips. The boy grabbed her by her shoulders before giving her a good shake. "Rosie!"
Jeremy's eyes widened seeing over Rosie's shoulder as he used his gun again. Rosie ducked out of instinct as Jeremy pressed the trigger injuring another soldier. "We need to move!" Jeremy yelled pulling her up before bringing her under his arm.
Rosie's feet guided her as she followed Jeremy to wherever he was planning to go. The thought of Mariana came into Rosie's mind as her eyes searched for her sister. "Mariana!" The name left Rosie's lips as she tugged on Jeremy's shirt.
ย ย ย ย The boy pointed ahead to see Mariana loading a shotgun and standing next to Maya who was doing the same. Maya looked up ready to shoot whoever was approaching them. The girl threw the gun towards Rosie who barely was able catch it.
"You remember how to use one, right?" Maya asked Rosie who looked at the large gun in her hands.
The Latina nodded as she was freaking out inside not knowing where the rest of her friends were. "Good because we're going to cover, Jeremy." Mariana responded aiming at a soldier that had a hold of one of the inmunes.
Jeremy was about to lift himself up before noticing the blotch of blood staining Rosie's shirt. "You're bleeding!" The boy exclaimed stopping himself from getting on top of the truck bed.
ย ย ย The two other girls turned to see where Rosie was bleeding. "I'm fine! It was just a cut!" Rosie responded quickly. The boy tried to make sure but was stopped by his sister.
"Get your ass back on that truck, Jeremy!" Maya demanded pointing at the truck. "Now!"
Mariana rushed to open the passenger door as she searched for the first aid kit. Rosie lifted the shotgun placing it in the pocket of her shoulder and leveled it to her cheek pressing the trigger at a WICKED soldier and missing by a few inches. "Fuck." Rosie cursed before aiming once more and shooting the soldier down this time.
ย ย ย "Lift up your shirt!" Mariana instructed rushing to her.
ย ย ย Rosie did as she was told lifting her shirt up to show the gash. Without a warning, Rosie let out a scream as Mariana poured alcohol straight out of the bottle onto the wound. The younger sister focused on putting on a bandage around it covering majority of the wound.
ย ย ย "That's all I can do right now." Mariana explained.
ย ย ย "It's good enough." Rosie replied.
Jeremy climbed back up on a truck before pulling a sheet off covering a machine gun mounted on the truck. "Come on, come on, don't fail me this time." Jeremy mumbled to himself as he hoped the machine that had trouble to work was going to fire.
Rosie focused on what she had to do aiming at WICKED soldiers. The girl ducked down as Jeremy was able to use the machine gun. The three girls did as best as they could making a bit of damage but not quite enough as they were being outnumbered.
ย ย ย "Kiara!" Mariana screamed watching a blonde girl fall on her knees. Before Rosie could stop her, Mariana took a run for it sprinting to help her friend.
ย ย ย "Mariana!" Rosie yelled after her lifting her shotgun back up as a soldier had his eyes on Mariana.
ย ย ย The older sister was about to sprint to help her little sister who was pulling her friend up on her feet before being pulled herself. Maya shook her head, "stay with Jeremy! I'll go get her!" Maya demanded, "help reload!"
ย ย ย Maya ran shooting her way through to help Mariana. Rosie hesitated wanting to run to go get Mariana back but did as she was told. Rosie didn't even get the chance to help reload when Jeremy started cursing and the machine gun had stopped working. Mariana and Maya were nowhere to be seen and neither were the rest of Rosie's friends.
ย ย ย Jeremy jumped off the truck with a shotgun in hand and pulling Rosie with him. The two hid behind the truck knowing someone might have seen them. Jeremy pulled out a pistol and did his best to load it quickly.
ย ย ย "What the hell is going on?" Rosie asked grabbing the gun that Jeremy handed her. "How did they find us?"
ย ย ย The boy started to load another one that he tucked behind his back not responding to her questions. He grabbed the shotgun making sure it was already loaded. "I need you to go hide." Jeremy ordered pointing over the hill. "The trucks are parked over there. Get in one of those and hide."
ย ย ย Rosie started shaking her head at him. "What? No. I'm going to help you."
ย ย ย Jeremy let out a scoff, "no. You're not. Now go do what I told you to do."
ย ย ย "I'm not going to hide away while everyone is fighting back!" Rosie argued. "Mariana is somewhere in there! So are my friends! I'm not going to hide while they're in dangerโ"
ย ย ย "Come on, Rosie! Go hide! Please!" Jeremy cut her off, she could see the fear in his eyes. The thought of losing her again was scaring him. "I'll help them myself, okay? Just go!"
ย ย ย Rosie was conflicted not knowing what to do. "I can't do that, Jeremy." Rosie replied.
ย ย ย "I can't lose you again!" Jeremy raised his voice at her as she realized he was scared out of his mind. "Please."
ย ย ย Desperately, Jeremy pulled the girl towards him. Rosie's eyes widen once she felt his lips on hers. His hands were gently placed on the sides of her face while he made sure he kissed her with everything he had. Rosie shut her eyes closed sinking into the kiss remembering how it felt to have his lips connected to hers.
He kissed her with all the power he could muster, making up for all the moons, weeks, days, minutes, seconds their lips hadn't been touching. That boy always made her feel safe even in times like these, when he was sure they were going to lose. Jeremy didn't want to risk losing her. Not again.
ย ย ย "Just in case." Jeremy mumbled getting up from his crouched position, "I love you, Rosie."
ย ย ย "Jerโ" Rosie stopped as the boy headed back to help the army without letting her reply back.
ย ย ย "Go!" Jeremy demanded before running into the battle field.
ย ย ย Rosie cursed taking a glance at the scene unfolding in front of her. Jeremy had lasted quite awhile against a half dozen of soldiers as he tried to shield a few kids. Rosie searched for her friends and gasping when she spotted the three boys laying on the floor with soldiers heading towards them.
ย ย ย Jac and Celia where nowhere to be seen. Rosie turned to see if she could find the three other girls and finally spotting them. Jessie was behind them trying to drag Mara somewhere safe while Samadhi was at front trying to cover them with a gun that was about to be emptied. Mara shook her head pressing onto the gunshot wound on her leg.
ย ย ย Mara was saying something to Jessie who started to shake her head at her. Samadhi threw the empty gun at one of the soldiers turning her back to try and help pick Mara up. Rosie stood up wanting to sprint to help the three but stopped herself when she watches them fall to the ground tazed.
ย ย ย Her feet took off to the direction Jeremy wanted her to go. Rosie ran up the hill hoping that it was all going to be okay. It was going to pass by and everyone was going to be okay. She didn't dare to look back as she ran to one of the trucks. The girl sat herself on the backseat on the ground curling herself up and trying to make herself look small and invisible.
ย ย ย Rosie could hear the screams and cries of the people from a distance. Her hands came up to cover her ears and try to block it all out. Shutting her eyes closed, Rosie hid herself and started to feel guilty. It reminded her about the Griever attack and running into the fields to hide. The way she covered herself was the same way she had been covering Jimmy.
ย ย ย Oh, god, Jimmy. Rosie remembered the little boy disappearing after they got separated. She never saw him again. After the attack, the boys told her he was one of many the grievers took.
"What are you doing Rosie?" Rosie questioned herself before sitting up on the backseat and taking the gun out of her pocket to make sure it was loaded even though she watched Jeremy load it minutes ago. "I can't just wait and let it all happen."
Rosie opened the car's side door hoping to stay hidden. The moment she opened the door four soldiers stood outside. One turned a bright flashlight on and the other three pointed their weapons at her.
"Aw, fuck."
