╰┈˚ · ° . ⠀I WAS NOT IN A GOOD MOOD. Only a couple of days had passed since the beginning of the bet that I had made with Alec, and in all honesty, the fact that I could not have him was making things twice as hard. The sexual tension was high between us. Only increasing each minute that passed. Teasing had been a no when making the deal but apparently just sitting on the couch watching some random cooking show, stealing glances at each other was all we needed, so I was glad when Allison, Lydia and Sebastian had called me to talk about the bruises that the mysterious girl had left on the girl's wrists. Apparently they matched. They were exactly the same.
That evening, Scott and Stiles had roped Alec with them to a party. I was pretty sure that Alec had just gone with them to stay as far away from me as possible. The bulge in his pants had been very evident for all the afternoon. Probably me wearing only his shirt and panties enveloped by his scent had not helped him in the slightest. Fortunately for me, that was something that I did a lot. Wearing a bra was not comfortable and I loved wearing his shirt. We both loved it. His wolf certainly did it a lot. But of course, he had to wear sweatpants and no shirt. Like he always did. The arousal coming from the both of us only made things worse since we could both feel it.
So here I was, in the back seat of Allison's car sitting next to Sebastian as we watched Lydia tracing with a pen the purple bruises on her wrist.
As the strawberry blonde girl lifted the pen from her skin, she neared her arm next to Allison's, comparing the bruises between each other. "I don't know. It doesn't look like much to me." She said before glancing back at us "Do you?"
"I never saw anything." Seb saint with a shrug giving the bruises a quick passing glance.
"It's a pattern. It means something." Allison insisted
"I mean... They are weirdly similar" I said, even turning my head slightly to the side trying see it from another perspective.
"You really think Scott's gonna know what it is?" Lydia asked to the Argent girl.
"No" I scoffed at the same time as Allison said.
"No, but he might know someone who does."
Lydia gave me and Sebastian, who had chuckled at my comment, a stern look before addressing Allison again.
"How are you so sure that it means anything at all?"
"Because that girl wasn't just looking for Scott. It's like she needed to find him. Like she had to. And that means something."
I furrowed my eyebrows, leaning over to look better at their wrists."From what you told me it really seemed like it. The description matched the one that Isaac gave us. And he said that he saved him. If she really needed to find Scott for something maybe that is something related to what she wanted from him" I hypothesized.
Silence stretched between us before Sebastian spoke. "Or maybe she just needed to find Scott for something and was just being a rude bitch by grabbing your wrists and bruising them."
"Yeah, or that." I clicked my tongue at the roof of my mouth, nodding my head at the boy agreeing with him.
The car was quickly filled with laughters after that, easygoing laughters that made me think about those moments during summer where the four of us, even going as far as calling Allison on face time where we would just do normal teenagers stuff. Laughing and joking and doing movie marathons with tubs of ice cream and bowls of popcorn.
We soon arrived at the address that Alec had sent me where the party was. When we stepped from the car and approached the house, people were going in and out, red solo cups in their hands, laughter and music spilling from the inside.
Allison, having called Scott from the car, made sure that once we were there, the beta was already outside waiting for us. I was sure that Alec would follow outside very quickly. With a cocky smirk on his face, he once had told me that apparently his shadows were always searching for me, and as soon I was in their range distance and they could feel me, he would know. Anyway, the conversation ended with my fist breaking his nose because I had blushed very hard and he was making fun of me for it. So I punched him.
The front door of the house opened just as we walked towards Scott. And like I knew it would happen, Alec was there.
"Did you miss me already, little witch." He wiggled his eyebrows, grinning like the Cheshire cat.
"Tell that to the bulge in your pants, demon." I replied with a smirk which only seemed to make his grin widened. "Sorry but we are here for Scott."
He pouted his lips looking like a wounded puppy. I raised an eyebrow at him, not very impressed. His grin returned as he wrapped an arm around my waist, kissing the side of my head.
"This isn't the talk we were gonna have, is it?" Scott asked his ex-girlfriend. A crestfallen expression on his face that made me wincing slightly.
Allison looked down. I knew that she loved him. She still loved him but her guilt was still eating her alive. She clenched her jaw, steeling her will "I need to show you something."
But as soon Allison and Lydia extended their wrist for him to see, dread coated my insides and surely my features too. My magic released from my veins without my permission, the loud bang of a thunder following as the sky lit up with lightning.
A single word fell from my lips before my knees gave out from under me. I would've hit the floor if Alec wasn't ready to take me in his arms.
"Virgines."

╰┈˚ · ° . It was morning when I woke up. Light streamed inside from the windows and I quickly recognized that I was in my bed. My head was in someone's lap, their fingers brushing through my hair as Hex's snake body was coiled on my chest as she rested. It took me less then a second for me to know that it was Alec. I didn't need my sense of smell to recognize his scent or my magic to indicate that it was him, I just knew. He was carved inside of me.
"You scared the shit out of me." He admitted in a low and rough tone. It was the first thing he said after the minute it took me to regain all my senses.
My eyes drifted upwards to look at him, my brows furrowed in confusion. The last thing that I remembered was the party, Allison needing to show Scott the matching bruises on both my female best friends. And then nothing.
"What happened?" I asked. My voice gruff from sleep and my eyes still half open.
Alec let out a scoff that was mixed with a laugh. Not one of amusement, more sardonic. "You almost gave me a heart attack. That is what happened."
I was ready to roll my eyes at his dramatic but looking closer, even if his fingers continued to thread through my hair his eyes were darker and not by lust or anger or his shift and they held fear and worry. Dark circles were present under his eyes indicating his lack of sleep. His heart was beating a tad too quickly to be regular.
He looked down at me, clenching his jaw as he broke eye contact before answering my question. "You, Allison, Lydia and Sebastian came to that party. Allison wanted to show Scott the bruises and then you said something in Latin, probably, and then you passed out."
I tried to get up, at least a bit to look at him, but as soon as I made a move a growl echoed inside Alec's chest, his arms wrapped around my middle to keep me from moving. He brought me even closer to him, his breath ragged.
"Alec-"
"Don't. Move." He said through clenched teeth. "I'm barely keeping my wolf from going feral." His tone softened in a way that made my heart clench "You wouldn't wake up. I thought-"
"I'm here." I said as I brought his hand to my chest just above my heart. "I'm here, my love. I'm fine."
"You wouldn't wake up." He whispered as tears gathered in his eyes.
I swiped with my thumb the stray tear that had escaped "I'm here."
"What happened? Was it a vision?"
"No or at least I don't remember seeing anything I just-" My eyebrows furrowed as I tried to recall even a simple thing, but coming with complete nothing.
"Then what was it?" He asked as his fingers one against started to comb through my hair with soft touches.
And then, that feeling of dread came back as I remembered the last moments of when I was awake. I crawled in my boyfriend's lap, nuzzling my nose in the crook of his neck. "It felt like a warning of some kind."
"For the alphas?"
"No." I gulped "Something else. Something worse."

The following morning we found ourselves in an empty classroom in school. Scott had called Derek, apparently he too thought that the bruises could mean something, but Lydia and Allison were not people who Derek liked much so even before anyone said anything, I already knew the outcome.
When my cousin arrived, the air, already tense with Scott and Allison's own problems, became even more.
"Show them." I said to my two best friends motioning for their arms. Anything to get the fuck out of there as quick as possible.
"I don't see anything." Derek said after barely looking down at the bruises. His arms crossed on his chest.
"Look again." Scott suggested calmly.
"Maybe actually look at them before saying anything." Sebastian said to my cousin, rolling his eyes at the Alpha.
"Excuse me? And you are?" Derek asked with a sharper tone.
"Sebastian." The blond boy introduced himself before smiling with mischief "And you are excused."
Slapping Alec's arm after he had chuckled, I stepped forward before a fight could break. "Just look again, Der." I said adding a tired sigh.
"How is a bruise gonna tell me where Boyd and Erica are?" He asked rhetorically, his blue eyes staring with a glare in the younger Argent direction.
"It's the same on both sides. Exactly the same." Scott replied, trying to make the Alpha at least try to understand where we were coming from.
"It's nothing." Derek dismissed.
"Pareidolia." Lydia chimed in "It's a subset of apophenia."
At the look of complete confusion on everyone's faces, I explained to them. "Seeing patterns that aren't there. But this is not the case." I added the last part with a sharp look in the strawberry-blonde direction.
"Probably it is." Alec said with a nonchalant shrug.
"Really?" I groaned under my breath. Looking at him I saw him mouthing the words 'I love you' which I completely ignored by sending him an eye roll.
"They're trying to help."Scott said softly to the alpha.
But the look that gave him was one of pure disbelief. "These two?" Derek asked sarcastically. He pointed at Lydia first. "This one, who used me to
resurrect my psychotic uncle. Thank you." Then he turned to Allison "And this one, who shot about 30 arrows into me and my pack."
"Okay, all right, now, come on. No one died, all right? Look, there may have been a little maiming, okay, a little mangling, but no death. That's what I call an important distinction." Stiles said trying to bring down the raising anger in the room with his split sarcastic relief
"He is right." Sebastian nodded his head in complete agreement.
"Next time, I'll shoot arrows into you two. Then we will see what you have to say." Alec said with a barely concealed sneer. His shadows appearing and disappearing around him.
I placed one of my hands on his neck, fingers playing with the hair at the base of his neck trying to calm him. A tendril of darkness wrapping all around my arm.
"Back to the topic, please." I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"My mother died." Allison stated, staring directly at Derek, the one who had bitten her.
"Your family's little honor code killed your mother. Not me." Derek answered
"That girl was looking for Scott. I'm here to help him, not you."
"You wanna help? Find something real." Derek said with a final tone before starting to walk away, making Scott follow after him.
