โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย THE WINTER COLD AIR ENTERED THROUGH MY OPEN WINDOW, the breeze brushing against my exposed skin making goosebumps appear. My sketchpad was in my lap, colorful pencils scattered across the bed. The lit candles in the room were my only source of light other than the moon itself shining from outside. The air smelled of lavender since my incense continued to burn. I had spent as much time I could at the hospital with Lydia. Waiting outside her room, in the chair next to her bed... Stiles had been with me the majority of the time, waiting patiently outside her room. Alec too, until he, my grandmother and the strawberry blonde girl didn't gang up on me and sent straight home for the day.

Apparently I needed a shower, to eat something more than what the vending machine offered and a good night of sleep. The shower and the meal were done as soon as I stepped home. The sleep, on the other hand, evaded me entirely. The only time I had slept was when I was in an uncomfortable chair next to Lydia's bed. And that sleep was filled with another vision. I had been drawing for the last couple of hours that scene.

The clouded and murky water from where a hand with skin marred with burns shot out from, grabbing a forearm. And then a scream that I could still hear resonating in my ear, almost piercing my eardrum.

There were two ways for how it could go when an alpha bites a human. You turn or you die. But not Lydia. Peter had bit her but she did not die and at the same time, it didn't heal the same way as one about turn would. Her healing was slow and completely normally human.

And then, that scream that I was only real in my vision echoed through the town of Beacon Hills. Loud and piercing. A scream that I recognized now that it was happening in reality. Lydia was the one screaming.

โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย My phone had chimed only seconds after the scream, and now, on the back of Alec's bike, we sped down the street directly towards the hospital. Once we arrived there, I climbed down from the bike. I didn't look the boy straight into the eyes once since I saw him, nor did I talk to him. He was the one that said it had to go home, well him, my grandmother, and Lydia, and I know for sure that I would do the same with my grandmother once I saw her. And with Lydia too.

'What could happen to me in a hospital, Flora. I'll be fine' Lydia had said to me. Didn't really sound alright to me that scream.

I huffed when I felt a shadow wrapping around my wrist, as if it was a leash.

I tried to swat it away without any success. The shadow still clinged to me. I could feel Alec's amused eyes on me as I grinded my teeth with annoyance "Alec!"

"Yes, little witch." He said with the most condescending tone ever

"Take your shadow off of me before I decide that your head would look better in trash can than on your shoulders" I snapped

The boy placed a hand on his heart. "You know how much I love when you threaten me, little witch." He grinned at my fierce glare "And I'm literally not doing anything"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean..." He said while looking me up and down "My shadow decided to follow after you without my command. Apparently your threats don't just work with me."

"What?" I was more than confused but before I could say or do anything else I felt him take control of it and unwrapped it from my wrist.

"Here he is" Alec said while nodding his head to the human teen that was exiting the hospital

"Stiles" I breathed out running towards him. I knew that he had been here when I went home, or more so being dragged home "What happened?" I asked, eyeing the bloody gown with a strong scent of Lydia.

"I don't know. She was going to have a shower, then we all heard screaming and then she was nowhere to be found."

"What do you mean?" Alec asked

"I mean that Lydia is missing. She now running around the woods completely naked"

"What. The. Fuck." I said trying to understand the situation

"Yeah" The boy breathed out "Scott is in my car. He is going to follow her scent or something"

"Yes, alright. I'm coming with you." I said while nodding my head.

We didn't waste time and started to walk towards his car. Groaning, Alec soon followed after us.

Stiles climbed in the driver seat, Scott was already in the passenger one, Alec and I both went in the seats behind. The beta acknowledged us with a nod before he turned towards his best friend

"This is the one that she was just wearing?" He asked. As Stiles nodded his head concerned, Scott spoke again "I'm not going to let anyone hurt her again. Alright?"

"Really touching. Now, can we actually get to the part of finding her?" I asked snarky.

Alec chuckled next to me, stealing the stained gown from the hand of the McCall boy. "We should just take this and get on my bike" He said to me with a deadpan look.

Stiles glared at the shadow wolf and proceeded to steal back the gown, giving it to his friend "All right, just shove the thing in your face and let's find her."

Starting with the engineer of his car, the headlights turned on illuminating Allison that was jogging towards us.

"Wow!" Stiles shouted out in fright.

"What are you doing here? Someone's gonna see us." Scott whispered to his now secret girlfriend.

"I don't care, she is my best friend." Allison said while sending me a small smile "And we need to find her before they do."

"I can find her before the cops can." Scott told her

"How about before my father does?"

"He knows?" Stiles asked

"Yeah. I just saw him and three other guys leave my house in two SUVs" Allison explained.

"Search party." Scott concluded

A scoff left my lips "Try more like a hunting party." I said with distaste clear in my tone. Allison climbed inside the car after Scott opened his door. She sat near the windows making me scoot more near Alec, who as soon as our side touched, wrapped his arm around me. He looked down at me before kissing my forehead

"We will find her" He whispered low enough for just me to hear. Or it would've been just me if Scott didn't have super hearing too.

I decided that he didn't need an answer, I just interlocked our hands together, a wisp of shadows wrapping around them to keep us from moving away from each other.

"All right, but if she's turning, would they actually kill her?" Stiles asked as he drove his jeep

"Probably" I said, earning a look from the beta and the two humans. But it was the truth. If they decided to follow their code, then the answer was no. If Lydia hadn't shed innocent blood then the hunters would not kill her. But not all hunters follow the code.

"I don't know. They won't tell me anything. Okay, all they say is, 'We'll talk after Kate's funeral, when the others get here.' "

"What others?" Stiles asked

"I don't... They won't tell me that, either."

"Okay, your family's got some serious communication issues to work on." The human then turned towards the wolves "Are we going the right way?"

Scott had his head completely outside the window resembling a dog. Alec and I in the back could barely follow Lydia's scent.

"Take the next right!" Scott yelled

Grumbling Alec scooted forward, his sense of smell more useful as he took in the air getting in from outside "No. Continue forward, Take the second to the right!"

Another sniff later Scott added "Right, exactly what I meant. Second to the right"

โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย When we stopped the car to enter the forest, we followed her scent more easily. In the end it led us to the Hale house. I hadn't been here since the night when Kate and Peter died. The yellow tape of the police still barricading the porch.

"She came here? You sure?" Stiles asked Alec, Scott and I

"Yeah, this is where the scent leads." Scott answered, positive nods coming from both me and Alec

"All right, but has Lydia ever been here?" Stiles asked as we continued to towards the house

"Not with me." Allison said.

Everyone looked towards me "No" I stated

"You mean not even before..." Scott asked confused

"No" I repeated more coldly "This was our pack house. The only people allowed here were the one of our pack and the Di Luna's family"

Silence fell around me. Uncomfortable silence that felt too thick on my skin.

"Maybe she came here on instinct, like she was looking for Derek." Allison proposed breaking the silence

"You mean, looking for an Alpha."

"Wolves need a pack, right?"

"Not all of them." Scott said to his girlfriend. Derek wanted him in his pack but the boy didn't want to accept

"But would she have been drawn to an Alpha? Is it an instinct to be part of a pack?" Allison asked

"Yeah, we're stronger in packs."

"Like strength in numbers."

"No, like, literally stronger, faster, better in every way." Alec explained

"That's the same for an Alpha?"

"Yes. That'll make Derek stronger too." I said

"Whoa! Hey, look at this." Stiles called us over "You see this?" He showed us a wire "I think it's a tripwire."

"Stiles, no!" I whisper-yelled at the boy as he pulled at it

"What?" Stiles looked at me confused

"Stiles." Scott said in a somewhat strained voice

"Yeah, buddy?" We all turned around towards Scott who was dangling upside down trapped at the ankle.

"Next time you see a tripwire. Don't trip it." The beta said

"Yeah, noted."

"Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait." Us with werewolves abilities freezed when the scents and sound of different people come to us.

"Fuck!" I cursed "I've got this" I said to Scott, grabbing Alec with one hand and Allison with the other. I dragged them away. Stiles followed after us "Touch me somewhere" I said to the boy.

"Wait, what?!" The human boy widened his eyes

"Oh for fuck sakes!" I glared at the boy who was fumbling with his hands clearly panicking

"Her arm, idiot. Grab her arm." Alec said with a heated glare. "Just her arm" He repeated with a more serious tone. His eyes never leaving the brown one of the human.

As soon as Stiles wrapped his arm around my forearm I muttered my spell "Invisibilia." The four of us turned invisible "Try to not make any noise. The spell makes us just invisible"

Hunters, maybe half a dozen of them approached the beta, coming out from the woods and surrounding Scott. Chris Argent, kneeled in front of the boy.

"Scott."

"Mr. Argent."

"How are you doing?"

"Good. You know, just hangin' out. Is this one of yours? It's good. Nice design. Very constricting."

"What are you doing out here, Scott?"

"Looking for my friend."

"That's right. Lydia's in your group now, isn't she? Part of the clique? Is that the word you use? Or is there another way to put it?" Mr. Argent asked rhetorically "Part of your pack?"

"Actually, clique sounds about right to me."

"I hope so. 'Cause I know she's a friend of Allison's, and one special circumstance, such as yourself... One, I can handle. Not two."

"Scott, do you know what a hemicorporectomy is?"

"I have a feeling I don't want to."

"A medical term for amputating somebody at the waist. Cutting them in half. Takes a tremendous amount of strength to cut through tissue and bone like that. Let's hope a demonstration never becomes necessary."

After that the hunters strode away still leaving the boy hanging from one of their traps.

"You okay?" Allison asked worriedly at his boyfriend

"It's just another life-threatening conversation with your dad."

"Let's just say that it was my uncle who was crazy. But, of course, not the man that just threatened to cut Scott in half." I said sarcastically

Allison sighed and turned towards the human "Stiles, help me with this." she said walking towards the mechanism of the wire

Extending his claws, Scott cut through the trap "Thanks. But I think I got it."

"Yeah."

"Huh."

"She is not here" I said while shaking my head

"We will find her" Scott smiled at me slightly trying to look as convincing as possible before letting out a breath "Just not tonight."

โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย Stiles had dropped Alec and I off at the hospital where the shadow wolf still had his bike. I didn't say a thing, I was too worried for my friend, and honestly, too tired but I knew that I would not sleep that night either.

I walked out from my bathroom, my room only lit by a lamp on the nightstand and a dozen candles. I jumped in fright when I noticed the familiar figure of Alec sitting at my bay window flipping through my sketchbook.

"Alec!" I whisper-shouted. My hand closed in a fist making the sketchbook close in his lap. "What the fuck are you doing?!"

"Looking at your drawings until you close the sketchbook." He said almost as if he was annoyed that I stopped him.

"Not that. I mean, what the fuck are you doing here? In my room? Did you just climb inside from my window?" I said noticing how it was still slightly open.

"I want to make sure you would actually sleep. I know that you didn't before, so here I am."

I opened my mouth a couple of times. I was speechless. "Get the fuck out!" I snapped at him

"Not can do, little witch" He said "Now get inside that bed and go to sleep." He started to open my sketchbook once again, making me use my magic to make it fly in my hands.

That just provoked a glaring contest. One that he won. "Fuck you" I muttered under my breath

"Whenever you want, Ellie" He commented with a grin

"Oh for fuck sakes. Shut up" I grumbled while getting inside my bed. A wave my hand around, suddenly all the candles were out. I turned off the lamp and sent the room in almost complete darkness apart from the small rays of moonlight that entered from the windows.

We stayed in science, the moonlight lighted Alec's futures. His dark chocolate eyes that stared outside at the woods, his sharp nose and shapely lips.

"Are you going to just stay until I fall asleep or are you going to pull an Edward Cullen and watch me sleep too?" I said. My voice clear through the sound of the silence and the small noises from the nature that entered from the still open window. I heard Alec groan before the shuffling of clothes. "What are you doing?" I said confused. I sat up, my eyes glowed gold making me see exactly what he was doing in the dark. He had taken off his leather jacket and hoodie. Now he was unfastening his boots. "What the..."

With an annoyed sigh Alec said "Scoot over"

"You are not getting inside my bed"

"Yes I am. Now, scoot over Elizabeth before I use my shadows to make you do it"

With gelid glare I did as he demanded. Huffing annoyedly. I turned on my side, giving his back to him but apparently, that was not how things were going to go. With a swift movement, I found myself with my head on his chest and his arm wrapped around me.

"Is this really necessary?" I grumbled

"Yes, now sleep"

But I couldn't. Not if I feared another confusing vision or the same nightmares. Not if a question was drilling into my brain restlessly. I used his rings on his free hand that rested on his stomach as a distraction. Twirling them around his fingers and moving them around.

"What is it, little witch? I know that something is bothering you" Alec's voice was softer than I expected. He moved his fingers through my hair brushing through my brunette strands.

"I'm having a lot of vision recently" I said a after a moment of silence "I think the alpha was just the beginning"

He made an acknowledging sound in the back of his throat and then asked "And?"

"I don't want to sleep just to have visions or having nightmares about... "

"You can't control the vision. Your grandmother told me that they are like a blessing from nature. Something important and sacred for a witch"

"They are a pain in my ass" I scoffed. "They drain me and make me feel like shit."

"I know that there is something else, Ellie" I felt his head move down from my hair to my chin, tilting my head upwards to look directly at him. In the darkness, without making my eyes glow, I could just barely see him.

"You came here to help Derek with the alpha" It wasn't a question but he answered the same

"Yes"

I hesitated for a second before I dared to ask what I really wanted. "Are you going back to Italy now that that is over?"

"Do you want me to go, little witch?" He asked.

I didn't want him to go, but thinking and saying it out loud were two very different things. "That is not an answer" I scoffed lightly

"Yours isn't either." I could feel his lips moving against mine as he spoke "So I'm going to ask you again, Elizabeth. Do you want me to go?"

My breath got stuck in my throat. "No" I answered honestly

"Then I am not going anywhere, amore." His gruff voice sent shivers down my spine. The new endearment name slipped off his lips as it was as natural as breathing. [Love]

My lips found their ways to his in a second. It was not like our first kisses. This was more slow and intimate. I like to think that it was like the calm before the storm. It was a brief kiss, one that stopped too soon.

"Sleep." He whispered. He kissed my forehead and it wasn't much before I felt myself drift away into sleep. One filled once again by a vision.
