╰┈˚ · ° .  It was probably not much later after all three of us had fallen asleep that I woke up from the sound of my phone incessant vibrating. The 8 missed calls from Alec and 10 from Derek didn't really strike me as a good omen.

I unlocked my phone, quickly dialing Derek's number. It only took a second before he answered.

"Why were you not answering the phone?!" He shouted

"Lower your voice!" I snapped "I fell asleep while having a cheer up post break up slumber party. What do you want?" I asked while closing myself into my bathroom

"We need to talk" Derek said after a moment "We find out who is the alpha"

"You what?!" I whisper-shouted

"Meet me behind the school as soon as you can" Derek said "And don't talk with anyone else before me. Come straight here"

"What? Why?" I was confused, very confused.

"Just- just do it, please" And with that he hung up. Looking at my best friends I casted a deep sleeping spell, they wouldn't wake up until morning, and quickly got dressed. But as I laced my boots I heard the doorbell rang incessantly. I could hear my grandmother muttering obscenities out loud as she opened the door. I recognized the voices as soon as they spoke. Their scents familiar to me now.

Don't talk with anyone else before me

And I did just that. I opened my window and jumped out. As feet made contact with the grass my eyes glowed yellow gold. I knew that Alec had heard me so I didn't waste another second to sprint inside the woods and towards the school.

I ran out of the forest line directly behind the school. There had been a lacrosse match that night, probably it hadn't ended much before as people still roamed around. Using my heightened sense of smell I followed the one that brought me to Derek, but what I failed to notice was the other familiar one next to him as I was too frenetic, tired and impulsive.

It led me somewhere where barely even the light arrived.

"Derek" I said as I saw him coming from the shadows "What happened- who is-" I stopped in my tracks as now the second scent hitted me with full force. The second heartbeat beating steadily in confrontation to the more quickened one of Derek. The other male showed himself. Cladded in a leather coat and free of any burn scars "Uncle?" I asked unsure even if I knew with all my being that it was him. His lips titled into a smile as he opened his arms for a hug that I jumped into. I knew who he was, he was the alpha. But I had spent the last six years tending to the male. Talking and trying to heal him. I spent nights and afternoons in his room crying my eyes out, I spent so much time wishing to at least have him back. And now he was.

"Hello, Ellie." He said. His fingers brushed through my locks as my throat clogged with sobs.

"You are okay... You-you" I stuttered through the words now detaching myself from him "I tried to heal you or at least help you heal yourself but it never worked. I'm sorry, i'm–" I rumbled only to be cut of him

"I know, I know you tried everything you could"

I looked at Derek but his eyes stayed locked on the ground but I could feel the slight relief mixed with grief that his emotions emanated. I looked back at my uncle whispering the words that I knew were right "You're the Alpha" at his nod another tear fell from my eye as I took a step back "You killed Laura"

"He said it was a mistake," Derek spoke for the first time. I really really wanted to believe it. I wanted a piece of what had died six years ago in that fire back. I wanted my uncle back.

"It was?"

"It was a mistake. One that will hunt me for the rest of my life" I knew somewhere deep inside myself that he was lying, but at that moment I didn't care.

"What about all those people?"

Peter clenched his jaw in way that seemed painful "They were all guilty"

"Guilty?" I asked confused before the meaning flashed in my mind. I snapped my eyes to meet my uncle. Liquid gold bleeding into my jade eyes. My claws pierced my skin as the wind started to pick. I nodded my head, understanding him. I knew why he did it, just like I knew that I would have probably done the same. Not Derek. He wouldn't have. But he wasn't there that night. He didn't watch our family being reduced to nothing but charred corpses. He wasn't plagued by nightmares, by the burning smell that even awake never drifted away from my nostril. Maybe I was too much like my uncle, something that he would proudly tell me since I was born.

Maybe because Derek was good, a better person, he would've found another way. Like Scott. "Scott-"

"Scott doesn't know yet" Derek interrupted me

"But he will in about five minutes." Uncle Peter said before starting to walk inside the school. Derek and I following after him.

╰┈˚ · ° .  Us Hales and dramatics were probably one and the same, so neither me nor Derek said anything to our uncle as he explained to us his plan. We just rolled our eyes, creepily in sync while wearing matching scowls.

With the light turned off, Derek was the first one that Scott saw. He was still dripping wet from his shower, a towel wrapped around him.

"Thank God! Where the hell have you been? Do you have any idea

what's been going on?" Scott yelled

"I really don't get lacrosse." Peter said while holding his hands a lacrosse stick

"It was you..." The realization hit the teen boy quickly.

"When I was in high school, we played basketball. There's a real sport."

"From what I remember, the beacon hills team sucked." I couldn't help but add my comment earning glares from the two other Hales, both ex basketball players.

"Still, I read somewhere that lacross comes from Native American tribes and that they played it to resolve conflict. Do I have that right? Well..." Peter shook his head "I have a little conflict of my own to resolve, Scott. But I need your help to do it."

"I'm not helping you kill people." Scott bravely declared.

"Well, I don't want to kill all of them. Just the responsible ones.

And that doesn't have to include..." The alpha turned towards Derek even if he knew her name. He knew it very well. It was just a move of power

"Allison." Derek said for him

"Are you two on his side? Are you forgetting the part where he killed your sister? Your cousin"

"It was a mistake." Derek calmly said

"What?"

"It happens."

" Scott... I think you're getting the wrong impression of us. We really just want to help you reach your full potential." Peter said

"By killing my friends."

"Sometimes the people closest to you... can be the ones holding you back the most."

"If they're holding me back from becoming a psychotic nut job like you... I'm okay with that."

"Maybe you could try and see things... From his perspective." I said, swallowing down the guilt that rose. He didn't know. He wouldn't understand anyway. In a swift motion I was in front of him, My right hand on his temple, my left one on my uncle's. "Voco super naturam, ostendam in memoriam, verum ostendere, videre oculos suos, totum facere sentiat. Ab uno ad alterum" I chanted louder and louder. The wind picked up as the word flew from my mouth only to stop once I had finished. My hands dropped to my side as Scott fell to the ground, writhing in pain. Angushing yells escaping his lips.

Derek and Peter left as soon as I nodded my head. The spell was completed. Still, I knelt beside Scott on the concrete floors, brushing his wet hair from his face as he passed out.

As I felt him regain consciousness I whispered an 'i'm sorry' before slipping out from the locker room

╰┈˚ · ° .  The cold air of February was a welcomed relief. The breeze brushed against my skin almost in a soothing way, as if trying to calm me down. Nature was attune to everything, but to witches, the earth was their home.

"Just say it" I spoke out loud. The wind had whispered in my ear of his presence since he was almost untraceable with his shadows.

From the darker corner, Alec stepped out "I have nothing to say"

"Liar" I turned towards him

"Just like your uncle, then"

I closed my eyes as fresh tears formed in my eyes. I kneeled on the forest floor, my hands digging into the soil.

Ground yourself when you feel like you're floating away. Dig your hands into the earth and connect with it. You're a witch.

Her voice was a whisper in my mind. Soft and gentle as I remembered her. My mother used to say this whenever my anger would get the best of me.

You are a daughter of nature too, not just a child of the moon, my sweet girl.

"I don't know what to do" I whisper as I feel the first tear fall from my eye. I felt him kneel next to me, silently hearing my words as I whispered them out loud "I miss my mom. I miss my family"

"I miss my family too," Alec said. His tone was so low that I had barely heard it "The family I had before my mother was killed. Before my father turned into his wolf form and left me and my brother alone"

It was the first time Alec had talked out loud about his family. I knew, of course I knew, just like he knew what happened to mine, but we never spoke of it.

"Shadow wolves are not meant to have a pack" His eyes had a mist over it as words left his lips "We are solitaires. We thrive when we are alone and in the dark" He chuckled, but this was a sad one. Not like the ones that I've heard before. "That was the excuse that he used when he abandoned us. I was thirteen, I just lost my mother, my family was crumbling to ashes. If my brother hadn't already been eighteen years old and fought for my custody I would've ended up in the foster system."

After that we stayed in silence. Our back against the bark of the three, wild nature surrounding us at the same time as the cloud of emotions. His arm was wrapped around my shoulders, our finger interlocked and my head rested on his chest.

"Sometimes I miss the person I could've been if nothing of that ever happened" I broke the silence

"Yeah, me too"

───── ⋆⋅⋆。 ゚☽𖦹☾ ゚。⋆⋅⋆ ─────

╰┈˚ · ° .  "Allison, when you said you needed to stop for an errand before we went shopping, a five-mile hike in the woods was not what I was expecting." Lydia complained, her heels insatiable on the forest uneven ground

"Yeah, same. I'm not complaining about the hike but still" I said

"Before I forget, I wanted to ask if you're okay with something Lydia." Allison asked sheepishly. "Jackson asked me to the winter formal. Just as friends. But I just wanted to make sure you're okay with it first." Her words came out slightly unsure. I knew of the plan tha Scott had going on, a stupid plan but still I wasn't going to mess with it. So I chose to keep my mouth shut

"Did he?" Lydia asked

"Yeah. I said no but he said it was like an apology for being an asshole. That he wanted to be my friend." She rushed to explain "I will say no"

"Alison" Lydia placed a hand on her arm " As long as it's just friends..." I was sure that Lydia wasn't sure about it but still said yes.

Finally we came to a halt, Allison kneeled down and opened her bag. A bow and arrows stashed in it.

I gasped and took a step back from the girl

"Allison" I said "What are you doing?" The girl ignored me and started to twist a new arrow head on the shaft. From the look of it it seemed one of those flash bombs "Allison" I reaped, this time more coldly

"What does that do?" Lydia asked

"We're about to find out" Allison replied smugly

"I don't like this" I said taking another step back

"You? Not liking something dangerous?" Lydia asked incredulously, "That's a first." Allison furrowed her eyebrow in confusion before she turned around and took her aim. The arrow flew through the air, piercing the bark of the tree as it landed true on the target. Flashes and sparks lightened leaving behind a slight flame that quickly extinguished.

"What the hell is that?"

Allison lips curved into a slight mischievous smile "I don't know" but what I understood too was the phrase that she had not spoke out loud 'But I'm going to find out.'

At that moment goosebumps rose formed on my skin at what probably was the beginning of a new hunter.

"I have to go" WIthout waiting for any of my two friends, I started to walk away, ignoring their calls after me. My feet carried me deeper and deeper into the forest till I arrived at the Hale house. Footsteps followed after me, purposely loudly on the forest floor. Leaves crunching under his boots and then the clank of his sole on the charred wood and still I didn't acknowledge him. I went through what once had been the living room, passing the stained glass doors to the spell protected solar room.

And then those footsteps stopped as he groaned in pain falling to the soot covered floor with thud. I turned around and I could help but burst out laughing. My head tilted back as tears started to form in the corner of my eyes.

"Oh my god" I said through laughs "That was..."

"Couldn't you alert me?!" Alec snapped. A growl forming in the back of his throat. Blood was staining his skin as it dripped down his nose.

The spell in place not just gave access to the room just to me, but it created a wall for anyone else to hide the room. But from my choosing I could make that wall invisible and Alec had just collided nose first into it.

With a grin I waved my hand allowing him access to the room. From the chest in the room I took a tissue, wetting it with water before I kneeled next to him. Raising his head by my grip on his chin, I started to clean him up

"I couldn't resist it" I continued to grin

"Well now I know that you didn't just become deaf or a shitty witch by not sensing me" He replied with an eye roll "You did it on porpoise. To do this"

I raised an eyebrow "I could've been just ignoring you"

Titling his head to the side he started to grin "Not possible" I scoffed at the cocky boy "So I was right," He said." You like seeing me bleed"

"I think that using my magic on you might be one of my favorite hobbies nowadays" Leaving him on the floor I sat upright. "Why were you following me?"

"I wasn't following you" he said as he carefully moved his hand to see were the barrier was

"You can enter, Alec. I lowered the spell for you" then I cheeky added "Now"

He gave me a deadpanned look, not beliebìving me in the slightest as he continued to map where the wall was. Glaring at me before he carefully entered the room.

"Then what were you doing?" I asked him

"I was searching for you" he simply said

"So you were following me"

"No, I didn't know where you were"

The smirk on his face told me that we could go over this probably for hours so I asked "What were you searching me for then?" I huffed

"Winter formal" He said, stepping closer to me until our bodies were just inches apart "Come with me."

Not a question, I noticed.

"No" I deadpanned "Why would I. I didn't even want to go"

His grin widened "We both know that Lydia would never letting you not go" He lowered his face closing the gap between us even more "I'll come pick you up at 7, little witch" And then it was like he vanished into the shadows, leaving me alone in a charred and burned down house with just his scent of leather and citrus with hints of tobacco and an echo of his wicked laugh.

(Please read)

Hello everyone!

Alright you guys, we only have two chapters left before season 1 is completely posted. I'm still working on finishing season 2 so I'm sure that it will not be posted before the beginning of December.

I really would like you to understand in this chapter how conflicted Elizabeth is. She is not stupid she knows that Peter didn't kill Laura by accident but he is her uncle, the only person that for years was the only connection with the Hale family since Derek and Laura were away. They always had a very strong relationship even before the fire. (And for another motive too that it will be later on explained. But please understand her struggles.

Next chapter, the winter formal! 😉

Anyways, thank you for reading this chapter, I'll see you on tuesday!
