You

"Well, I'm not so sure that she'll be there. If you don't wanna see her, then I'll make sure that we carry out this plan as fast as possible so you don't have to see her."

"You're willing to do that for me?"

His tone became softer. You've never heard him say anything like that in the whole month you've been with him.

You suddenly altered the tone of the conversation by fooling around and babying him.

"Stop this at once! 'Scara-baby'?! What kind of nickname is that?!"

You

"Haha! What? Do you prefer Scaramouchie, Scara-boo, or Scara-baby? They're all so cute!"

You made fun of him, calling him various cringy pet names. You thought it was hilarious, and all the couples who called each other pet names made you want to hurl.

Scaramouche

"I'm not listening to you!"

Scaramouche rolled onto his side, no longer facing you. He covered both of his ears with two pillows.

"Scara-pookie! Booboo bear Scara! Baby boy Scara! Scara-sweetie!"

Scaramouche

"Enough!"

You burst out laughing. You were no longer sleepy since your laughter kept you awake. Scaramouche, on the other hand, was tired, especially after dealing with all the pet names you gave him. 

The thought of meeting Raiden ran across and out of his mind; it was a good thing your pet names distracted him so he could sleep soundly without fretting about a thing. You, on the other hand, were the one who couldn't sleep that night.

"Hmm... Scaramouche?..."

You sat up in bed, wondering where the hell Scaramouche had gone. His bed was uncommonly well-made, yet he was nowhere to be seen. Outside, you could hear voices and Scaramouche speaking with someone else. 

You knew there were other people on this island, outcasts, but you had no idea someone would be so near to your house. You cleaned up and went outside to check on them.

You stood behind a tree, observing Scaramouche converse with this person.

A child.

-A FEW MINUTES AGO, NOT TOO FAR FROM HOME ON AN OPEN FIELD OF GRASS-

*Yawn*

Scaramouche awoke with messy hair. His body felt revived after sleeping on anything other than the floor or an unstable chair, even if it was only an inflatable. All thoughts of Ei had vanished from his thoughts. 

He turned to face you, your arm dangling from the edge of the bed. Seems you have been holding his hand while sleeping. Your hair was a jumble, and you slept on your stomach with your head facing toward Scaramouche. 

Your other arm was hugging the pillow you rested on while your hand hung off the side of the bed, the hand that held Scaramouche's last night.

Scaramouche

"Y/N? Are you awake?"

There was no response. He could hear your slow, deep breaths. He knew the plan was to go to Inazuma City first thing in the morning, but you weren't woken yet. He used this occasion to go seek any fruit trees in the area, as they were the first thing he noticed when he landed on the island. 

He made his bed, and it wasn't long before he realized how polite he was being. 

How strange.

Fortunately for him, the fruit trees were right outside your house. Not far, just a quick walk. Before leaving, he took a basket from beneath the kitchen counter and began picking which fruits to eat for breakfast, which both you and he would share. 

He reached up for them, but he couldn't always reach the ones on the highest branches.

*Sigh* "One, two, three... Fourteen... It should be enough for this morning and the next few mornings."

Scaramouche felt something delicately graze his leg. With his guard up and the possibility of the fatui discovering him and you, he turned around, alarmed. He assumed it was a bomb. Or even an arrow that just happened to miss his body. 

But it was only a ball. 

A bright yellow ball with designs on it rolled slowly after softly bumping into his leg.

"Hey..."

"Oh. Is this yours?"

Scaramouche picked up the ball, and upon his eyes, he spotted a child standing far away.

Boy

"I know you!"

Scaramouche

"Oh, do you?"

Boy

"Yeah! In Inazuma City, I saw you on a poster."

Scaramouche

"... A poster, you say?"

Boy

"It said you were a criminal. You look just like the man in the picture. Indigo hair and eyes, and you're short."

Scaramouche

"You did me dirty."

"So, I'm on a wanted poster. Ei put it up?"

Boy

"Ei?"

Scaramouche

"... No. Forget I said that, boy. I meant the Raiden Shogun. Did you see a poster of a person with H/C hair and E/C eyes too?"

Boy

"No."

Scaramouche

"Hehe, good. If there were a wanted poster of them, I'd definitely put up the picture of them on drugs."

Boy

"Drugs?"

Scaramouche

"Oh- No! Don't listen to me, you'll get in trouble if you say that around your parents."

Boy

"I don't have a dad. He was rejected from my family for being too poor."

"Oh."

"But I have a mom!"
