T W E N T Y - F I V E

When Nicandro and I walked into the mansion, I felt as if all eyes on me. But really, they were all on the prince of Spain. There were refreshments on my left and a photo booth on my left. From one pillar to another there was the words 'Marcus and Irene' hung up on the string. I'm guessing this must be their engagement party then.

"Could I take your coat, Miss?" My head turned to a man who's wearing all black who I'm assuming is the coat check person.

I took off my coat, passing it to him. I saw that Nicandro was waiting for me and quickly caught up to him. We walked to the refreshments area to get a drink which I got a lemonade and he got a mocktail.

"What do you think of so far?"

"It's alright so far, I seem to-"

"Hey Nicandro." I saw a guy around my age standing behind Nicandro.

He had black hair and blue eyes, very tall and wearing a brown suit.

"Miguel, shocking seeing you here." Nicandro said with a smile on his face.

"Very funny dude, it's my sister's engagement party." And they did that bro hug.

"And you're Tiana, I presume?" Miguel said, looking at me. Nicandro has told him about me?

"Yeah."

"Well, it's nice to meet you, I'm Miguel." Miguel held out his hand.

"Nice to meet you too, Miguel." And I shook his hands.

"You're from Russia?"

"Yeah."

"Is one of your parents asian? Cause you look a little asian."

"My mom is from Vietnam."

"I just love interactional couples. Is this your first time in Spain?"

"Yeah and I like it here so far."

"Hey babe." I heard a voice behind me.

I saw a girl around my age, light brown hair and green eyes, wearing a mint green dress walked up to Miguel and he put his arms around her shoulder. They smiled at each other for a second before pressing their lips together, a little bit too long. I look over to Nicandro who also have an uncomfortable look on his face.

Nicandro cleared his throat, "Guys."

"Sorry." Miguel said when he pulled away.

"This's what I've been dealing with for about a year now." He mumbled under his breath but I'm sure all of us heard it.

"What about me having to deal with you being a third wheeler for about a year now." The girl replied, Miguel and I chuckled in response. I like this girl already.

"You must be Tiana, I'm Olivia and a hugger." And she hugged me. Wow her perfume was really strong.

She looked at Nicandro, "She's prettier than what you described." What? He described me-

"Am I suppose to apologize for my lack of vocabulary?" But I could still see the blush on his cheeks.

"Yes." Miguel added in.

"It was a rhetorical question." Nicandro deadpanned.

Miguel then smacked him on the shoulder. Olivia rolled her eyes at that, I couldn't help but stifle a laugh.

"Do you guys go to the same school?" I asked.

"Yes, but in difference courses. I'm in medical, Miguel's in engineering and Nicandro's in business." Olivia replied.

"So your school is technically a college, right?"

"Yeah, but a private one. Everyone that goes that has a high social status. It's just to have more privacy and not have your picture taken everyday while going to class." Miguel replied. So everyone who goes to the school lives in a mansion.

"Which course are you taking in your college?" Olivia asked. I definitely can't say I've been an orphan most of my life and my biological parents were actually drug lords.

"I've actually taken a gap year, just to figure out what I want." I replied, trying to calm myself down.

Nicandro noticed that my nerves were getting the better of me so he lightly squeezed my hand. Miguel saw that and slightly raised his eyebrows.

"Your sister is calling us over there." Olivia said to Miguel, pointing to a women in her early twenties waving at the other side of the room.

"I'll see you guys later." Miguel said and they both walked away.

"You have really nice friends." I said once they're out of sight.

"Grateful to have them in my life. Now lets go and talk to the four suspects." He walked and I follow suit.

We walked to the huge window panel and stood near the curtains.

"Vincente Nuez, ninety degrees to your left."

I turned my head to see the man which I saw a picture of him in the file. Late twenties, unmarried, a little short. I saw Nicandro slowly take a sip from his drink.

"Okay, why are we still standing here?"

"My father and him have not been friendly for more than twenty years, but given his big ego, give it a minute and he'll come here just to spite me."

"Honestly, my guts says its-"

"Your highness, always great to see you again and what a lovely date you brought here. What your name, darling?" Add the word 'creep' to the adjectives to describe him.

"Tiana." I replied, I could see Nicandro gripping his drink with more force.

"Well its nice to-"

"What the hell do you want, Vincente?" Nicandro cuts in.

"To have a conversation with your lovely date, of course." Gross, but I still need to find out if he's working for felon.

"I can't handle anymore bullshit, last month two of my family's private houses were trashed so if you could just give me a break-"

"I heard it was some drug lord, felon I think." My senses were heightened when he said that word.

"You know about him? You don't strike me as someone interested in this." I said.

"Oh, I'm interested in a lot of things, dar-"

"Just get to the point." Nicandro glared at him.

"I've bought drugs from him a few times, but honestly I think that one of his competitor's, valore, drugs are better." Vincente shrugged.

Nicandro and I looked at each other with the same thought: He's not the one.

"Good to know. Now if you'll excuse us, we're needed elsewhere." Nicandro grabbed my hand and walked away.

"You okay? That guy is a creep." He touched my shoulders.

"I've dealt with worse." Adrian.

Nicandro started doing this thing where he analysed me with his eyes, so I quickly changed the subject.

"Who's next?"

"Manuel Diaz. I hope its not him as he's a family friend."

"Let's go find out." I gestured to the guy standing not so far away from us, talking to a women who is his wife.

Nicandro nodded and we approached the couple.

"Nicandro, how are you?" Manuel said once he saw Nicandro and he shook hands with the both of them.

"I'm good, and the both of you?"

"Busy working on the charity bazaar next week. Who's this lady here?" Manuel's wife asked and I noticed her American accent.

"Tiana, nice to meet you." And shook both their hands.

"I'm Melissa, and this is my husband Manuel."

"So did you two birds first met?" Manuel teased, I couldn't help but feel a little tensed.

"We're not together, Mr Diaz." Nicandro forced out a laugh.

"Ah, my apologies. You guys just seem so radiant together.

"Reminds of us back in the day." Melissa chirped in.

"It certainly does." Manuel said and pressed a kiss on Melissa's cheek.

I don't think I've ever feel a desire to have a significant other until today. First Miguel and Olivia, now Manuel and Melissa. Damn, I feel like one of those desperate girls right now.

"How long are the both of you married?" I asked.

"Thirty two years. We got married when we were nineteen and only after eight months of knowing each other. But you know what they say, when you know, you know." Melissa chuckled.

"That aside, we were worried that you were gone for over a week, your highness." I could hear the genuine concern in his voice.

"Yeah, I just needed to get away from everything for a while." Both of them nodded in understanding.

"Is it because of the break in? I'm just glad no one in your family was hurt." Melissa said.

"It's crazy that the police dropped the investigation, I even filed a complaint to the captain." Manuel commented.

"Yeah..." Nicandro trailed off.

"You should come with me to the police station sometime this week, we'll fight this together." Mnauel added. Its not him either.

"That would be great, Manuel. Thank you." Nicandro gave them a small smile.

"We'd better get going, honey." Melissa said to Manuel.

"Leaving so soon?" Nicandro asked.

"Yes, our son Aaron is flying here from America with his daughter who was born five days ago, we can't wait to see her." Melissa replied.

"Well then I'll see you guys soon." Nicandro said.

"It was nice to meet the both of you." I said with sincerity.

"Bye, see you soon." Both of them said.

"They're so nice." I said once they walked away.

"So I take it as you don't think they're the one?" He raised one of his eysbrows.

"I guess the fact that their records looked too clean means they're hiding something."

"But they're actually that nice."

"Yep, now on to the next one."
