You gripped your bag tightly as you walked through the gates of the school. Memories of the previous days' events had already put you on edge, and coming back to the school that you now knew you'd die in only severed to make it worse.

'When will it happen? Who will do it? Why will they do it?'

You had tossed and turned all night as one question after the other crossed your mind. You stared down at your feet as you entered the school, only for your eyes to widen when you noticed your hand trembling violently.

'There has to be a way to prevent this, right?'

An idea suddenly came to mind, and you rushed down the hall. You entered the classroom and let out a sigh of relief when you found Mr. Tsuchigomori sitting at his desk, grading some papers.
"Mr. Tsuchigomori?" You called timidly.
"Yes, what is it?" he replied distractedly, barely turning to face you.
"Um, I was wondering if there was any way you could change your future?" At that, his head snapped toward you. He stayed silent for a while, the glare of the overhead light casting a glare in his glasses and preventing you from seeing his eyes. Just as you thought you had said something wrong.
"No, there isn't," he said finally, and you lowered your head.
"Oh...Okay." You turned to leave.

"Wait." You stopped and turned to look at him once more. His expression hadn't changed, and you were too tired to notice the hint of concern in his eyes. "You look a mess. What exactly did you read anyway?"
"I...read that I die soon," you said so quietly that he almost didn't hear it. After a moment, he sighed.
"Come on." He motioned for you to follow him as he exited the library.
"Where are we going?"
"I'm taking you to the nurses' office. You can sleep there during my class as long as you wake up during free period to make up the work."
"Oh...Thanks," you said awkwardly as you followed him.

Using his keys, he unlocked the door to the nurses' office, flipping on the light and motioning for you to pick a bed. You chose the one furthest from the door and closest to the window and sat down.

"I'll come and get you when it's time to wake up," he said, turning to leave but stopping in the doorway.

"Oh, and about your future." You looked up at him hopefully. "Try not to think about it too much, alright? If you are going to die soon, then you wouldn't want to spend the rest of your time like this, would you?" You shook your head no before laying down. You tossed and turned for a few minutes before your exhaustion finally caught up with you, making you fall asleep before you even realized it.

"Hey...Come on. It's time to get up." You slowly opened your eyes to see Mr. Tsuchigomori standing next to the bed. "Your next class is about to start," he informed, and you stared at him for a moment, almost forgetting how you'd gotten there in the first place.

"Oh," you muttered once everything came back. You were still tired but not nearly as tired as you were before.

"Thank you, sir," you said, and Mr. Tsuchigomori watched you leave before sitting down on the bed and taking out a red book with the name 'Y/n L/n' written on the cover. He opened it and flipped through it to the chapter that read future.

'What exactly's gonna happen to her?'

You yawned tiredly as you walked down the hall, on your way to the library to complete the work that Mr. Tsuchigomori had assigned you. Then, for what seemed like the millionth time since you read it, thoughts and fears about your future came to mind, and you scoffed recalling your teacher's words.

'Try not to think about it too much, okay?'

'Oh please,' you thought. 'I'd like to see his reaction if he just found out that he was going to die in a matter of days.'

A chill suddenly went down your spine as a childish chuckle seemed to echo throughout the entire hallway.

"Found youuuu.

You looked around, hand subconsciously reaching into your bag and grabbing for your staff as you looked around. As soon as you turned around to look behind you, another laugh could be heard, this time coming from right in front of you, and you quickly turned to see Hanako standing at the end of the hallway, his usual smirk plastered on his face. You let out a sigh of relief.

"Oh, hey," you said, walking over to him. "Sorry I didn't visit you this morning. I was really tired, and Mr. --"

Before you could finish, he disappeared before your eyes, and you rolled your eyes and crossed your arms.
"Quit playing, Hanako," you said, waiting for him to jump out and try to scare you or something, but nothing happened.

"Please!" Just as you turned to go back down the hall, screaming that came from the principals' office caught your attention. "Yuki didn't come home last night! Someone has to know where he is!" Letting curiosity get the better of you, you approached the door and saw a woman standing in front of the principals' desk, tears streaming down her face.

Your teacher stood beside the principal, who sat in his chair, both of them wearing solemn expressions.
"We don't know where he is, ma'am," said Mr. Ito. "No one saw him leave the school."
"So he must be here somewhere!" The woman cried. "We have to find to find him!"
"We've already searched the school, and-" Your teacher noticed you standing there and quickly excused himself.
"Y/n, what are you doing here?" He asked, and at the sound of your name, the woman's head snapped towards you.
"Are you Y/n L/n?" She asked, walking up to you so fast that you couldn't help but take a startled step back.
"Um, yes," you nodded.
"Oh, thank goodness!" She took your hand in hers. "Yuki's been talking about you for months now. Do you know where he is? He didn't come home last night, and he's not answering his phone!" At first, she spoke softly, but her voice rose with urgency with each word. You stared at her with a confused expression similar to a child's.
"Um, I'm sorry, ma'am, but I don't know anyone named Yuki," you replied, to the woman's shock.
"What? But he said you were friends," she muttered, releasing your shoulders and backing away, more tears rolling down her face.

"I-I'm sorry-"
"It's alright, Y/n, just go back to class," said Mr. Ito, closing the door before you could reply. You stood in front of it, still hearing the woman's screams before slowly turning around and heading back down the hall.

Yuki.

Part of you felt like you should've known that name, but your mind only drew a blank when you tried to think about it. After a while of thinking, you eventually shrugged it off.
'Maybe she had me mistaken for someone else or got the wrong name.'

'Today really isn't my day.'

You mentally groaned as you stood in front of your third-period class.

"This is what happens, class when you show up late." You could hear Mr. Sato, your history teacher, giving the class a lecture from inside. "Whether it be five minutes like now or twenty minutes, there's no excuse, and since you wanted to miss part of my class, then you might as well miss all of it." You rolled your eyes as you sat down with your back leaning against the wall.

'I wanna go home...'

The sound of slow footsteps coming your way caught your attention, and you slowly raised your head to see the green-haired girl from the other day walking down the hall. At first, you paid her no mind, thinking that she was merely passing by, but after a moment, the footsteps stopped.

You raised your head again to see that the girl had stopped right in front of you.
"I saw you in the library the other day," she said, her voice vacant of any emotion, just like last time. "Did you find the library?"

You glared up at her.

'Am I just not allowed to forget about that stupid library?'

"What did you find there?" You let out an annoyed huff.
"If I tell you will you leave me alone?" You hissed, and she nodded.
"I die, okay? I didn't read Hanako's book, I read mine, and it said that I died. Now leave me alone!" You turned away from her, hoping that she'd go away, only to sigh in annoyance when she didn't move an inch.
"Is that so?" She muttered, and just as you went to snap at her again, she spoke up. "What if I told you that there was a way to change your future?" At that, your aggressive demeanor disappeared as you turned to stare at her with wide eyes.
"But Mr. Tsuchigomori told me-"
"What he told you was a lie." Your eyes widened.

Your teacher wouldn't do that...Would he?

"How do you know that?" You asked.
"Because Hanako's done it himself," she replied. "Don't believe me? Ask him yourself, if he doesn't it lie to you, that is, he's pretty good at that." Just as you opened your mouth to question her more, your teacher opened the door and peeked his head outside the door.
"This young lady is on punishment right now," he said with a scowl. "Please refrain from talking to her." The green-haired girl bowed her head respectfully.
"My apologies. I'll be leaving now."

You watched her leave as question after question you wanted to ask her came to mind, and with each one, you began to question your faith in Hanako. Maybe if you hadn't been so lost in thought, you would've seen Haku-joudai hovering right over your shoulder.

Hanako stood on the roof when Haku-joudai flew next to him, telling him about your entire encounter with the mysterious green-haired girl that Hanako knew all too well.
"Her again, huh?" He muttered, knowing that if she was around, someone else wasn't far behind. Despite his calm expression, he was seething inside as he thought of ways to show everyone that you were his.
