Lights and Colors || 10

Finally;

Aera found herself sitting in the regular rolling chair, in her doctor's cabin, feeling a big hand resting on her shoulder, making her lips tug upwards for a bit. Her hand moved up, holding Jungkook's tightly as she heard the doctor chuckling softly along with her eldest brother.

The same scent danced in her nostrils yet again, earning a small sneeze from her as even after so many years she couldn't bring herself to adapt the strong deodorant of the man who performed her regular check ups.

She sighed, rubbing her nose from the back of her hand, feeling gentle brushes of the fabric that probably belonged to the doctor's coat, when his hand moved in a probable circular motion, unwrapping the layer of bandage around her head.

Jungkook stared at Aera, a smile stretching his lips upwards while eyes glistening in warm tears. He looked to his side where the eldest brother stood, chewing on his lower lip, a soft gaze fixed on the ten year-old. Jungkook nodded assuringly, feeling a squeeze on his shoulder from the elder's hand.

"Open your eyes slowly okay?" The doctor said, removing the last layer of bandage and the soft cotton pieces that were placed on top of her eyes.

Aera nodded subtly, feeling the darkness gradually fading away as her eyes fluttered open, sending a new, unfamiliar feeling to all parts of her body. Her hand clutched onto Jungkook's tightly, gasping and shutting her eyes again, covering them with her other one.

"Its fine Aera, open your eyes." He caressed her hand gently, while Jimin stepped forward, kneeling in front of her chair, placing his hand above Aera's and uncovered her eyes.

"Open your eyes, princess, oppa's right here."

Aera took a deep breath, licking her lips nervously, opening her eyes again and felt the extreme intensity of light from her surroundings. She blinked a few times, allowing the pupils to take their time and adjust to the bright light.

A faint image of something in front of her formed in her eyes, making her frown as she blinked again and looked around, gasping at sight.

"oppa?" She called softly.

"Yes honey" Jimin responded, holding her hand and making her look at him.

"this is... this is you?" Her voice came out like a whisper for the brother.

"Yes" He nodded, smiling as Aera lifted her hand slowly moving it towards Jimin's face, feeling his cheeks and nose and lips and eyes.

"my Jimin oppa..." she smiled to herself, blinking again, leaning forward to see him more clearly.

Jimin looked down for a second, wiping off the tears that left his eyes due to excessive happiness he was feeling at the thought of his sister finally being able to see after practically spending all her life midst darkness. He looked up, seeing her smiling as she was now looking at Jungkook who was smiling one of his widest smiles.

"Thank you so much, Dr Joe" Jimin said, standing up and shaking the man's hand.

"That's my job, Mr Jeon. I'm glad I could help Aera gain her sight back." He smiled back patting Jimin's shoulder.

Aera stood up, holding Jungkook's hand staring at the ground as she walked out with him and Jimin following behind them. Her eyes wandered around, gaping at everything in awe. Jungkook opened the door of the car and waited for Aera to get in once she was done studying and analyzing the material, surface and color of the car.

"This is the car in which we go for a drive?" She asked, recognising the vehicle as her hand touched the handle and the windows.

"Yeah, and we'll go again." Jimin said, "now get in, you must be hungry."

"Hmm" She nodded, carefully getting in and seating herself, while Jungkook sat beside her, closing the door and heard Jimin turning the engine on.

"Oppa, what is that?" She asked, looking outside the window, where everything appeared as if sprinting in her eyes, making it difficult for her to locate or observe anything carefully.

"I'll tell you," The brother smiled, "Do you wanna go to a park or home first?"

"Uh home" Aera said, turning away from the window and shifting near Jungkook, staring at him, trying to study his face and body so that she remembers him now that she can see. Her hand moved towards Jungkook's face, touching his cheeks and nose, making the brothers smile as she whispered his nickname amusedly.

"Yes, princess." Jungkook nodded, holding her hand and pressing a kiss on her palm. Aera smiled remembering how he used to do it every time whenever he held her hand.

Jimin pulled the car in the driveway, unbuckling his seat belt while Jungkook did the same to himself and Aera, he held her helping her get off the car.

"This is where we live," Jimin said, "Riri's home."

Aera nodded slowly, looking at the big house in front of her with an amazed expression, she held onto to nearest person's hand recognizing them as Jimin and pointed at a distance, "What is that?"

"The fountain, where you play." He said, "Wanna see?"

Aera nodded walking up to the marble fountain with water flowing down from the top with tiny sprinkles at the sides, Jimin patted her back encouragingly, making Aera lean forward, sitting on the edge as she heard the familiar sound.

"Water" She said.

"Yes," Jungkook smiled, sitting beside her taking a little water in his hands, showing it to his sister. Aera tilted her head, carefully analyzing the liquid as her index finger dipped into the small amount of water in her brother's hand.

Gasping as she looked at the two, "It's water!" She said, being comfortable and satisfied with water, making the brothers smile at her.

"Shall we go in now?" Jimin asked, earning a nod from Aera as she stood up, holding his hand again.

"Oppa?" She called tugging on his, "carry me please?"

"Why baby, you don't wanna walk?"

Aera shook her head, "I wanna see..." She said smiling a little, Jimin sighed, shaking his head and lifted her in his arms.

"What do you wanna see from here?" He chuckled, glancing at her sideways.

"You," Aera smiled, staring at him trying her best to memorize his face and not mix up Jimin and Jungkook by their looks. "I'm getting confused..."

"It's okay, you'll learn eventually." He smiled and kissed the tip of her nose.

They headed inside, letting Aera go around the house all afternoon and point at different things, asking tons of questions which gave the brothers a soft feeling they experienced for the first time. Jimin took her to her room, standing behind him and pointed at the mirror that reflected their images, reminding of all the times Aera asked him what she looked like.

"Who is that?" Aera frowned, stepping forward hesitantly, bringing her hand closer to the reflecting surface. Her eyes glanced back at Jimin with a confused and expression, seeing him nodding his head as if telling her to go ahead and touch the mirror.

"Yeah, go on." He said, making Aera gulp as her fingertips brushed against the cold surface and she realized it's not a person. She gasped, turning to look at her brother with an astonished expression.

"What is this? Why's there people in it?"

Jimin pulled out the stool of the dresser table and sat down, bringing Aera in his lap "It's a mirror," he said and pointed at her reflection in it, "and that is you, my princess."

"...but- but why and there's two me?" She said, looking more confused as she stared at the reflection with a frown.

He leaned forward and took her hand, letting her touch the surface again, "This, is you. And this is oppa." He said, caressing her hand over her reflection and then his own. "There's only one you, mirrors just show us a reflection and give us an idea of what we look like."

"So this is me or not?"

Jimin chuckled and kissed her cheek, "This is you, and that is your reflection."

Aera nodded gradually gaping at the girl sitting on the older boy's lap, which she now understood was herself and her brother, her Jimin oppa. She smiled a little and glanced at him, "Is this what we call beautiful?"

Aera was getting dressed, Jimin tied her laces as she still hadn't learnt to do it herself. Not like he minded doing it for her, but still. Jungkook was already waiting in the backyard after getting his old electric car out from the basement, that he used when he was four himself, and now his four year old sister had expressed the wish of playing with the car on hearing the noise of a similar car in the park two days ago.

"Done, let's go downstairs. Kookie's waiting." Jimin said, holding her hand as she jumped down from the bed, giggling at him.

"Do I look like a princess?" The four year old asked, making her brother smile as he crouched in front of her and pecked her lips.

"You look beautiful, my princess." He said.

Jimin nodded, smiling at her "Yes, beautiful as my princess."

Aera giggled and sat with him again, looking at their reflection and trying her best to notice all the details about herself and her brother. Meanwhile Jimin admired his little sister looking so lively and fascinated by everything that any other person wouldn't even pay attention to.

Looking at her, he realized how blessed the others were to be able to see these beautiful colors, sparkling lights and their loved ones, to be able to hear birds sing, or simply just to be able wake up and live a new day with thousands of miracles surrounding them that most people often forget to appreciate and be grateful for.

"You're a miracle, princess." He smiled to himself, looking at Aera moving in front of the mirror and laughing amusedly as her reflection copied her.

A/N- Hello everyone 🥰🤗 How's it? I tried hard not create any dumb misconceptions.

Also here's a thing; In most cases blindness since birth is not curable. (I did researches on google) In this chapter Aera gains her sight back because I'm the creator here and this is fiction. In reality, gaining complete sight after being blind all life, is close to being impossible, as what I know.
