๐“๐‡๐„ ๐’๐Ž๐‚๐‚๐„๐‘ ๐“๐„๐€๐Œ arrived late to the party as they had an afternoon practice session,

"If you want to leave at any time just let me know and we'll go," Indigo explained as the girls walked in hand in hand,

"I'll be fine, I promise," Lillian was quick to shake her head,

"I'm just going to get a drink," she added as she saw the kitchen,

"I'm gonna go talk to the girls," the striker nodded as she let go of the girls hand as they walked in different directions,

"Hey," a voice called out from beside the blonde,

"Hi?" Lillian smiled as she cocked her head looking at the taller boy,

"I'm Rutger," Rutger introduced himself as he was feeling ballsy,

She was the first girl he spoke to at his first ever college party.

"Lillian," the girl held her hand out for the boy to shake,

"You on the hockey team?" She added as she hadn't seen him before,

"Yeah," the boy nodded as he was met with a soft laugh from the girl,

"What's funny about that," he added as he cocked his head,

Lillian couldn't seem to get enough of the hockey boys at school.

"Nothing," the blonde shook her head,

"Is there anything that I can do for you?" She added as she wondered why he wanted to talk,

"Can't a guy talk to a pretty girl?" The brunette asked as he took a sip of whatever he was drinking,

"You can, but just not this one," Luke was quick to interrupt the conversation as he put his arm around the girl,

Ethan who was once flirting with a girl had stopped and had been staring at the interaction so the youngest Hughes sibling decided that it was time to stop Ethan from feeling the need to intercept.

"My bad dude," Rutger was quick to apologise assuming that Lillian was in fact Hughes' girl and decided that it was best to leave the conversation.

"My flattered that you think I'm pretty but I have to tell you that you are not my type," Lillian joked as she turned to the boy,

"Very funny," Luke rolled his eyes as he removed his arm from her,

"Look I wasn't even flirting with him," the blonde pouted out furrowed her eyebrows,

"Yeah but Ethan is still gonna kill him," the brunette explained as he pointed his head in the direction of the girls ex,

"Look Ethan moved on so why should he be allowed to care what it is that I do," the defender took a second to finally look at Ethan as she noticed that she locked eyes with him,

The only unfortunate part about what she saw was the girl that was on his lap who was busy kissing his neck.

"It's complicated," the boy sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair,

The night Lillian dumped Ethan, the Canadian found himself pissed drunk and in tears as all he wanted to do was go to the blonde and tell him that he was an asshole who was sorry that he didn't make the love of his life feel like she was important to him. Ethan realised that he couldn't see himself with another girl ever, and at age 20 that terrified him.

"Sure it is," the girl grumbled as she grew frustrated,

"Im going to get a drink," she added as she decided that she was going to do what she originally set out to do,

"Lillian," the brunette sighed as he wanted to tell the girl the truth but he knew he'd lose his friendship over it.

"I promise, I won't go talking to anyone else that Ethan might scare," the blonde raised her hands in surrender as she sent him a playful grin.

"Baby," the girl who sat on Ethan pouted,

"What are you looking at?" She added as she realised that Ethan had been ignoring her,

"Nothing," Ethan shook his head as he thought out something,

"I'm just going to get a drink," he stood up before he placed the girl on the couch,

"I'll come with," the redhead offered as she was met with a hand stopping her,

"Just stay here, I'll come back." The brunette shook his head as he make his way to the kitchen.

He wanted to talk to Lillian but unfortunately for him by the time he got to the kitchen, the blonde was long gone.

Ethan found himself talking to Indigo as he had given up on finding Lillian.

"Where's your new friend?" Indigo asked as she crossed her arms,

"She found a new guy," Ethan explained as he let out a sigh,

He deserved that comment.

"How is she?" He added asking about the about the girls roommate,

"She's alright," the soccer player nodded as she sipped her drink,

"Honestly?" The hockey player could sense that she was hiding something,

"She misses having you in her life," the girl explained as she tucked her hair behind her ear,

She might not have missed having a boyfriend but she missed having the man who was her best friend for almost ten years around anymore.

"No she doesn't," the boy let out a laugh as he was in denial, prior to them dating the longest they went without talking when they had a fight was four days. And now they had gone four months.

"Ethan do you promise to keep your mouth shut about this?" Indigo decided that she wanted to let Ethan in on a secret.

"Of course," Ethan nodded as he was curious what he was going to hear,

"She has had to stop herself from sending you messages after she does certain things," the girl began as she let out a sigh,

"And god she misses you at the games." She added as she remembered the time when Lillian scored a goal and when she went to celebrate she was met with the harsh reality of Ethan not being in the crowd.

"I don't remember the last time I actually went to one of her games," the boy scratched his chin as he thought about it,

When they started fighting Ethan was quick to stop going to her games as he found other things to do during that time.

"And you wonder why she didn't feel like a priority anymore," the striker spat as she sent him a glare,

"Sorry," she was quick to add as she realised that she probably should have just mentally said that,

"Nah I deserved that," throughout the couples arguments it was always Indigo who went to put Ethan in his place,

Ethan liked to refer to her as his voice of reason.

"Just do me a favour Ethan," Indigo just hoped that her meddling wasn't going to backfire on her.

"Yeah," Ethan nodded as he waited to hear what it was that the girl had to say,

"Whilst she needs her space, don't let her push you away forever." The girl knew that her friend was stubborn, but she just wished that it wouldn't stop her from being happy.

AN: There was quite literally no reasoning behind this chapter and I'm not even gonna try to deny it.

But how do we feel about Indigo sort of meddling in Ethan and Lillian's relationship?
