๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ in a past life she must have lived in Italy as it was the only reason why she could justify her the love that she had for the country.
It was something about the way that the warm Italian air hit her face when she stepped out of the airport that made her love it. It was a bonus that her family lived there though, regardless of the the fact that she hadn't spoken to her mother since the argument they had in Michigan. Her Nonna had been decorating the house as she was excited to meet the man that Lillian had gushed to her about.
Ethan on the other hand was terrified to meet the girl's grandparents, sure he had met the ones from her dads side and yes they loved him but he had never been forced to make his first impressions in what was a foreign home but also a foreign country.
Lillian could sense the boys nerves as they pulled up to her grandparents costal getaway as they called it with it being the place that they now called home since they retired. She let out a sigh as she leaned across the back of the taxi "they are going to love you,"
Before Ethan could respond with another question the blonde practically jumped out of the car (a habit that she seemed to enjoy) as she ran over to the old couple embracing them as loud phrases of Italian came out of her mouth. The boy shortly followed her out of the car as he grabbed their bags thanking the driving and ending with a small "grazie," before the man was off again.
"Nonno e Nonna incontrare Ethan," Lillian introduced her grandparents to her boyfriend who placed their bags on the ground behind he wiped his palms on his shorts,
Ethan watched as the older couple just stared him up and down as they tried to learn who he was, the boy took a large gulp of air as all that he could get out of his mouth was "ciao."
"Benvenuto a casa nosotra," Andrea the girls grandmother smiled as she watched the boys expression for from bad to worse, he had no idea that she was currently screwing with him.
"What did she say?" Ethan leaned over and tried to whisper it into his girlfriends ear as he realised that the couples Italian was going to be no match for the lessons with Chloe.
"She said you hurt her, I hurt you." Francesco explained as he locked eyes with the boys,
Already knowing their antics Lillian let out a groan as she crossed her arms "Nonno!" Hoping that it would be enough for them to cut it out.
"My husband he kids," Andrea laughed as she shook her head,
"But not really," she added in a quieter tone using everything in her power to not laugh,
"They are kidding I promise," the blonde turned to her boyfriend as her grandparents left them at the door.
"You sure?" The brunette didn't really feel like he could believe her at that moment?
"That kind of humour is sort of their thing," the soccer realised that she probably should have warned him about it before hand.

It had been hours since they arrived and Lillian had gone out with her nonno to get some more drinks leaving Ethan to learn how to make pasta.
"Pasta is like a woman," Andrea began as she had given the boy half of her rolled out dough to cut,
"You love it and it's good to you, you treat it like shit and it's shit back." She added with a shrug not looking up to see the amused grin on Ethan face,
Ethan took a moment to let out a chuckle before he nodded in agreement, "I like the way you think." Whilst he didn't fully understand the analogy it was definitely something that he was willing to get behind.
"You love her?" The older woman asked as she finally stopped what she was doing to give the boy her attention,
"Lilly?" The boy cocked his head,
"You're the one who calls her that!" Andrea gasped accidentally throwing some flour onto his shirt in the process,
"Yeah?" Ethan nodded as he grew confused,
"She told me about you many years ago," the woman explained remembering the day like it was yesterday,
"When I ask why she don't play with the nice boy down the street she said it's because she has a boy who calls her Lilly." She added with a smile remembering how she swore that Lillian would land up with the boy,
"So you better not go and hurt her now," the Italian warned giving him the same look that Lillian would when she warned him about things,
It clearly ran in the family.
"I won't," Ethan shook his head as Andrea went back to working on her pasta,
"Good," Andrea nodded as she watched the boy do the same time,
"We're back!" Lillian called out as they came back to the kitchen with a box of wine that her nonno had bought,
"You two go set up the table," Andrea sent the girl a smile as she motioned for the duo to go to the table outside,
With the gorgeous weather Italy was currently experiencing there was no way they were going to be eating inside tonight,
"I can't believe that I actually saw that," Lillian blurted out as the couple stood by the old wood table,
"What?" Ethan asked as he cocked his head wondering if he had done something wrong.
The blonde placed the plates on the table "she was teaching you how she makes her pasta," whilst she knew that he didn't know the recipe to the dough yet, Lillian was the only person who she had taught the recipe to and that definitely wasn't going to change anytime soon.
"So?" The brunette trailed off as he waited for more information,
"My dad doesn't even know how to make her pasta," the soccer player pointed out in a duh tone. To Nonna Matt didn't deserve to know.
"Really?" The hockey players jaw dropped at the information,
"Yeah," Lillian nodded as she was glad to note that things were going well for Ethan,
"You think she likes me?" Ethan asked as he smiled resting his head on her shoulder,
"Depends," the blonde turned to face him,
"What did you two talk about?" She added as she furrowed her eyebrows,
"Your little friend from down the road," the brunette teased causing the girls face to go red,
"Nonna!" The soccer player groaned as she made her way back into the house to complain to her grandmother for bringing up that story.

Lillian practically pulled Ethan to the docs as she was desperate to see the boys,
Lillian's eyes searched for the duo and let out a sigh of relief as she finally spotted the older of the two "Luca!" She squealed as she bolted in his direction. For a girl who hated running she sure was ago with doing it then.
"Lilly!" Luca was surprised by the fact that he wasn't knocked off of his feet from the sheer speed that the girl had,
"Hey bro," Adam smiled as he saw Ethan finally catch up,
"I've eaten way too much pasta to be running right now," Ethan shook his head as he dapped both boys up,
"Real Italian is still kicking his ass?" Adam asked directing the question to the girl causing the younger three to laugh,
"He's got a few more days to get used to it," Lillian explained as they were heading back to the states in four days,
"Well I'm glad that we actually got to see you then," the younger Fantilli brother pointed out as they had only arrived in Italy during the previous day,
They had come after the draft.
"Yeah," the blonde had to admit that it would have felt wrong being in Italy and not meeting up with the brothers.
"Congrats of the draft bro!" She added as it finally clicked in her head that Adam was indeed selected as the second overall draft pick.
"Did you not say anything to him on the day?" Ethan swore that he had seen her long message to the draftee expressing how proud she was of him, it made Ethan feel bad because Adam was lucky if he got more than a few emojis from the majority of the boys.
"I did but I wanted to say it in person too," Lillian explained as she watched Lucas eyes light up,
"Race you to the top?" Luca proposed as he looked at the hill that stood in front of them,
"Oh you are so on," the blonde nodded quickly handing her purse to Ethan before they began to run up the hill,
"I'm not running," Adam shook his head as he laughed hearing Lillian cheer at the fact that she was beating his brother,
"I'd rather watch paint dry than do that," Ethan confessed as he nodded in agreement following Adam as they decided to sit on a bench and just watch as Lillian and Luca acted like children on the hill.

AN: did you all really think that we would go to Italy and not see the Fantilli boys?
Nonna and Nonno are very much inspired by an Italian couple my family stayed next to on holiday years ago.
Just like this tho the European travels chapters are over!
On a real note though this is the last like regular chapter before the epilogue!?
