"Who should we go see first?" Indigo asked as the girls made their way back to their dorm,

The defender and the striker hit it off last year when they were roommates and decided to share a room for a second year.

"I'm going to take a nap, you can go see whoever you want." Lillian shook her head as she mentally cursed coach Klein for having the girls wake up as early as they did for a morning runs.

"You don't want to see Mark?" The striker cocked her head as she was surprised,

Over the previous year Mark and Lillian grew close as at least for the first six months of freshmen year she practically lived in their dorm. Whilst Ethan knew that the duo grew close he never expected them to stop being friends after he was dumped.

"He said he'd come by this evening so we could catch up before going to the dining hall." The defender explained as she hadn't seen the forward since they left to go home,

"And what about Ethan?" The brunette decided it was finally time to bring up the younger girls ex,

"What about him?" The blonde shot back as she looked down to her wrist, half of the bracelets that she wore were given to her by Ethan during the duration of their friendship.

"Are you ready to see him?" Indigo spoke in a duh tone as she had heard the stories of how her roommate avoided all interactions with the Edwards family just to avoid her ex,

"Please I spent half of summer next door to him," Lillian pointed out as she ignored the fact that she never opened her window as she was too scared that Ethan would want to talk,

The blonde still felt strongly about him but she knew that it was better for them to be apart, so she decided that this year she'd focus on performing better for the soccer team.

"Race you to the top of the hill?" She asked with a grin as she bolted off not giving the older girl a moment to respond,

"Not fair!" The striker groaned as she ran after the blonde who let out a hearty laugh.

Unbeknownst to them some of the hockey boys watched that interaction as they were walking in the opposite direction to get to their new house.

"They've clearly been busy," Dylan teased as a smile formed on his face,

Lillian had a weird ability to make him laugh no matter the situation.

"We should get to the house if we want to set up in time," Mackie pointed out as the boys had stupidly announced that they were going to be hosting a party the next night, so now they had to both move in and get the place looking party ready.

"Fine," sounded like a chorus that was sang by the other boys who were stood there and with that they all started walking again.

"Ethan you coming?" Luke called out as he saw that the boy hadn't moved,

"Yeah I'm coming," Ethan nodded as he snapped out of his gaze when the girls were no longer visible,

"You okay?" Mark asked in a voice that was only heard between them,

"Yeah I'm good," the Canadian forced a smile onto his lips as he continued walking.

It was later in the day and Mark finally made good on his promise,

"You've got a guest!" Indigo called out as she opened the door,

"Markie!" Lillian let out an excited squeal as she threw her arms around the boy,

"Lilly!" Mark matched her tone as he let out a laugh,

He started calling her that last year as he grew used to hearing Ethan use that nickname.

"I want her back before midnight mister," the striker jokingly warned as she was met with her roommate flipping her off,

"Have fun you two!" She added as the duo began walking off.

They found themselves on a random bench on campus was they caught up,

"So you crawled back to your house so that he wouldn't see you?" Mark asked as he let out a laugh wondering if he had truly heard the story right.

"It was so embarrassing," Lillian nodded as she turned a bright shade of pink,

She had been talking to Brett over the fence when Ethan walked into the yard, the detail she didn't mention to Mark was that his teammate was shirtless.

"You know I do have to ask," the hockey player began as he decided to get a bit more serious,

"Should we be expecting you tomorrow?" He asked hinting to the party that the hockey team was hosting,

"Yes," the soccer player nodded as she picked at her nail, a habit that Ethan hated.

"I've got classes with him this year so it's not like I can avoid him forever," she added with a shrug as she assumed he was asking because Ethan would be there,

"Can we go get food?" The boy was quick to change the subject as his stomach let out a rumble,

"Lead the way Estapa," the girl let out a soft laugh before she nodded as she realised that she was just as hungry.

AN: The main reason for this chapter was for us to get Mark into this story icl but also to like ease us into the story before the real chaos of my writing acc starts.
