๐‹๐ˆ๐‹๐‹๐ˆ๐€๐ ๐€๐๐ƒ ๐‹๐”๐Š๐„ were sat in the girls dorm as the boy was in the middle of a phone call,

"Okay thanks mom," Luke nodded as he had been on the phone for fifteen minutes now,

"Love you too," he added causing the girl who sat next to him smile,

"Yes I'll tell her you say hi," the boy softly rolled his eyes as his mother was clearly talking about Lillian before he hung up.

"What was that about?" Lillian asked as she cocked her head,

"There is a rep from Jersey coming to watch the game tomorrow," the brunette explained still a little shocked by the news,

"That's great!" The blonde let out a cheer as she patted his back,

"He wants me to sign the contract afterwards," the hockey player couldn't help but feel a bit taken aback by it all,

He thought he was going to join the team before the start of next season rather than during the post season playoffs,

"Win or lose," he added as he ran his fingers through his curls,

"What?" The soccer player finally took a moment to process what was being said,

"I leave for Jersey next week," Luke explained leaving the girl with a tough decision,

Did she tell her friend what really went through her mind, or did she act like she thought he probably wanted her to.

"Wow," as all that Lillian could say as she was still shocked,

"I know," the brunette nodded as he pulled the girl into a hug as he didn't know what else to do.

"That's great!" The blonde let out a gasp and it was as though her reaction was delayed,

"It is?" The hockey player asked as he cocked his head looking at the girl curiously,

"Yeah Luke," the soccer player nodded as she tucked her hair behind her ear,

"You get to go play in the NHL!" She added as she forced herself to be excited,

"But I'm leaving you," Luke pointed out as he frowned,

He was showing his true feelings about the matter.

"We both know that FaceTime will become our best friend," Lillian spoke in a duh tone as she wasn't going to give the boy time to miss her,

"And I'll see you during the summer," she added as the group had already decided that they were going to spend Lillian and Ethan's birthday week at the lake house.

"Come watch me in Jersey?" The brunette softly asked as though he was worried that she'd say no,

"Hell yeah!" The blonde excitedly nodded as she sent him a warm smile,

She was trying to be strong for him.

"Can you do me a favour though?" The hockey player realised that since he had gotten through telling her there was now a whole new obstacle, his teammates.

"Be with me when I tell the boys," he added as he knew that he would have to tell them before tomorrow,

"Why?" The soccer player asked as she cocked her head,

"They'll try comfort you before they get sappy about me," Luke wasn't trying to deny it,

All of the boys knew that she'd take the news the hardest.

"I don't need to be comforted," Lillian furrowed her eyebrows as she reached out to hit him,

"If you say so," the brunette was quick to catch her hand as he sent her a soft smile,

He knew her well enough to know that she was lying through her teeth.

Luke and Lillian made their way into the house as the guys were already sat in the living room,

"What's going on?" Dylan asked as he saw the duo stop in front of the couches,

"I've got news for you guys," Luke explained as he clapped his hands together.

"Why is she here?" Mackie motioned to the blonde who stood behind him,

If she was meant to be apart of the announcement he thought she'd be on the couches with them.

"I already know what it is," Lillian explained as she wiped her sweaty hands on her jean shorts,

"I'm just moral support," she added with a shrug,

"There is a guy from Jersey who is gonna be at the game tomorrow," Luke began as he just wanted to announce the news and get it over with,

Don't get him wrong he was excited to go and play in Jersey but at the same time he wasn't ready to leave Michigan behind.

"That's really great dude!" Mark smiled as it always meant something good when team reps came to visit.

"He wants me to sign right after though," the Hughes boy explained causing each of his teammates to turn to the girl,

"Don't look at me guys!" Lillian let out a groan as she was met with multiple faces looking at her with concerned looks.

"Congrats dude," Dylan was the first of the boys who got up to congratulate him as they all took the news positively.

Ethan watched as Lillian quietly sat on his bed,

"How are you feeling about it?" Ethan asked as he sat next to her feeling like he was walking on eggshells with how he approached the topic,

"Why does everyone think I that I can't handle the news?" Lillian asked as she let out a scoff,

"I knew he was going to get signed before next season," she added in a duh tone as she knew that Luke was a great hockey player.

"But it's different now that it's actually happened?" The brunette asked as he pulled the girl onto his lap sensing that she was still hiding how she felt.

"Fuck yeah," the blonde nodded as she finally let her tears stream down her face,

"And I feel like a bitch for crying about it cause this is his dream." She confessed as she let out a sob,

"You can be sad that he's moving though," the hockey player sighed as he was quick to use his hand to wipe her cheek,

"And that he's leaving me," the soccer player sniffled as she tried her best to keep her noises to a minimum as she didn't want Luke to hear her,

"That too," Ethan nodded as he ran his fingers through her hair trying to comfort her,

"You should wear his jersey tomorrow," he added as he locked eyes with her,

"I should?" Lillian cocked her head surprised to hear him say that,

"Yeah," the brunette couldn't go back on his statement,

"It'll be nice for him to see you in it one last time," he added as he placed a chaste kiss to her temple before her pulled her into a hug letting her tear stained cheeks turn his shoulder wet.

The loss in the frozen four meant that the boy season was over,

Making Luke feel somewhat better about the fact that he was leaving the team when he was.

"You played well," Lillian sent him a smile as she walked over to him,

"We lost," Luke furrowed his eyebrows as he couldn't understand the girls upbeat mood,

It had almost been pissing him off the last few days.

"Shut up and let me have this moment," the blonde warned as she reached around the back of him to hit his head,

"Fine," the brunette hugged the girl as he realised that she wasn't wearing her now usual 73 jersey,

"You two have a fight?" He added as he pulled away,

"Nope," the soccer player popped her lips as she shook her head,

"This was actually Ethan's idea," she added as she looked at the jersey that was hanging from her shoulders,

"Luke they are ready for you," Ellen caused the duo to breakaway as they looked at the Hughes mother,

"I gotta go Lilly," Luke sighed as he pulled the girl into a final hug,

The last one before he was on an official NHL roster.

"I'll see you later," Lillian nodded as she smiled patting his back before he walked off,

"You know that he would probably feel better if you cried in front of him right?" Ethan sighed as he had watched the whole interaction between the best friends.

"I'll cry when he actually leaves," the blonde confessed as she pushed her hair out of her face,

"He isn't leaving yet?" The brunette asked surprised by the news,

"Nope," the soccer player shook her head,

"We've still got him for like another four days." She added as she couldn't help it when a small grin formed on her face not wanting her friend to leave yet.

AN: and just like that the hockey season is over (but it is not the end of hockey in this book)

But we are practically going to say goodbye to Luke which is why we are getting so much more of him before he leaves!
