Morning came bringing about a new day, there was a knock at the bedroom door. Layton arose to go and answer it.

"Let's go get breakfast yeah" says Rose at the other side of the door

"I'll meet you in the lobby in a bit" answers Layton with a smile across her face

Layton goes back to the bed and kisses Kiandre, he mumbles something in his sleep, she leaves a note on the bedside table letting him know she's with Rose.

The two friends end up at a diner across the street

"So on a scale of 1-10 how mad are you at Jamie?" asks Rose

"I'd say a solid 7"

"What?"

"On one hand I am angry that he spilt my secrets but on the other I'm glad he did, it gave me the push I needed to tell Kiandre the truth."

"Heheh uhmm I might have slapped him on your behalf" Rose lets out a sly giggle "How did Kiandre take everything"

"Well I woke up this morning wrapped tightly in his arms so I'd say- good, he didn't run for the hills"

The girls continue the breakfast catch up session

Back at the hotel, Kiandre and Cassidy were hanging out

"Besides my mom and Rose, Layton is the most important women in my life, I have to ask, after last night has your feelings changed about her?" a concerned Cassidy asked

"Yeah, but in the best way possible- I admire her strength and courage, I'm in awe of her, I think this morning I may have mumbled an "I love you" in my sleep" answers Kiandre

"As she fell asleep in my arms last night something came to my mind, the day I took her to South heights and she left running, my mum's current fling was there, he praised Layton just before she ran out the door. I didn't think of anything then but now, he was paying a bit too much attention on her, that's why she left, she was reminded of what happened that night. And I was a dick to her for leaving thinking she was ashamed of how I lived or something."

"That makes plenty of sense and I'm glad everything's out in the open, here's hoping the rest of our year is smooth sailing"

In the afternoon just before the four were about to head back home, Layton speaks up

"I have to confront Jamie about what happened" the others agreed and supported her decision

"Go easy on him Bellissma" says Kiandre

At Jamie's penthouse

Layton knocks on the door

"Go away" screams Jamie from inside

"It's me" she utters

And just like that he answered the door

"Lay I'm so sorry I didn't know what I was doing" Jamie's eyes become welled up

She hugged him

"Of course I'm not thrilled at what you did but last night I was reminded of how you always had my back, everybody makes mistakes, I forgive you." "But something has been bothering you and I won't leave until we get to the bottom of it"

Jamie knew what was coming and a part of him wasn't ready for it yet he knew it was for the best, he leads Layton to the couch and the both sit.

"Layton, lately my soul has been speaking to me and every word it utters is about you, I may never find words beautiful enough to describe all that you mean to me but I know spending the rest of my life searching for them is something I'd be happy to do.

Look I'm not good with this stuff, I have never truly had feelings for anybody and now I realize why, it's because I love you, my heart always had that's why there was never room for anybody else."

Jamie stares at Layton, his head resting on his hand

for support waiting for some kind of response from Layton. She was still trying to comprehend what had just happened

"Look I know how wrong this could end and how beautiful it could turn out, but last night shattered me knowing I let my anger and jealousy effect you. That's why I decided I wouldn't allow myself to be the man that breaks your heart and has our friendship ruined, I'll always be your protector but I can't do that by loving you, that gives me power to destroy you and I don't want to do that, so it's best for now that we take some time apart- I know Kiandre and Cassidy are there for you"

"Time apart but we have been inseparable since I was born, you can't just change things up now."

"I need you to do this for me Lay, protect me from myself please, loving you has consequences, But I will always be in debt to you been in love is an exotic feeling and I never want to feel it with anybody else because they simply wouldn't be worthy"

Layton bursts into tears, Jamie tries to comfort her but ends up crying as well

"Take care of yourself" those were Layton's last words to Jamie before she got up and left his penthouse. This time he didn't give chase.

Teary eyed Layton makes her way down the hallway and bumps into Rick who was going to check up on Jamie after last night's events, he takes one look at her puffy eyes and immediately asks what's wrong.

Layton did not want to face anybody, all she wanted to do was curl into a ball and cry.

"Jamie just told me he loved me" Rick was shocked he knew Jamie had feelings for her but love? "Then he asked me to leave his life for a while"

Rick wasn't good at the whole feelings thing but something urged him to try, perhaps it was the fact he knew some of what Layton had went through and that made him softer on her.

"I need to go back to the gang" she utters and begins walking away

Rick reaches out for her hand "Wait, if they see you like this they're going to ask you questions I don't think you'd want to answer. Come with me, I'm leaving for Lightwood in a bit and our last road trip was fun."

She saw that he was trying to form some sort of friendship and he was right she wasn't ready for every bodies questions, Rick was the next best option. She sent Kiandre a text that they should leave without her because Rick was letting her drive the impala- an excuse she came up with.

Back at the hotel

Kiandre laughs as he reads Layton's text, he knew how obsessed she was about that car because of her favorite series

The 3 of them get ready for their long trip ahead.

Layton awaited in the car while Rick checked up on his friend, he was back quite fast, probably because Jamie refused to answer the door.

As Rick drove Layton noticed he missed the exit on the highway, she got worried for a moment

"Uhhm Rick you missed the exit" she brought to his attention "look if this was your way of getting me alone so you could kill me well played" she joked

"Haha Cruz, we are making a quick stop before heading home"

After some time Rick pulls up in front of an animal farm

"What are we doing here?" curiosity filled Layton as she asked Rick

"Come on" he leaves the car and begins walking inside

Layton hurried beside him, all the staff seemed familiar with Rick, like he was a regular there.

The two stop in front of a sheep pen. Rick removes his jacket and folds it over a fence. A worker comes up to him and hands him a lamb and a bottle of milk. The lamb began feeding and Rick looked in his element, peaceful as a smile stretched across his face.

"You want to try?" he asked

"I do" Rick carefully showed me what to do

"I thought this would cheer you up, after a stressful shift I always find myself here"

And it did, who could be upset whilst been surrounded by adorable and fluffy animals. Rick had surprised me in the best possible way and I appreciated it.
