⊱ ─ Ducks Are Back! ─ ⊰
Daisy was seated next to Charlie in class as the science teacher rambled on about oxygen and atoms. Charlie quickly placed a piece of paper onto Daisy's desk, she picked it up as the teacher was rambling and opened it. "Wanna skate down at the lake after school?" Charlie had written on the paper. Daisy lightly blushed before replying, "Yeah, sounds good!" She added a smiley face before folding it and handing back over to the Conway boy. Guy and Connie smirked at one another as Terry watched as his brother glared at the two smiling kids.
Daisy focused back on the teacher's science rambling. "Now, what are blue balls?" The teacher asks making the immature students laugh, "Tommy?" The small boy looked up at the teacher, "Hydrogen?" The teacher nodded proudly, "Is correct. Now, put them together and you have a molecule that makes up 96% of your body. What is it?" Tommy thought for a moment before answering genuinely, "Pizza?" Everyone laughed at his comment while the teacher shook his head as the principal knocked on the door.
Charlie leaned on the palm of his hand admiring Daisy as she drew randomly on the papers in front of her. "It's the principal. I'll be right back. Work on H2 CO3, it's a goody," The teacher exclaimed before walking out of the classroom. Karp turned to Charlie and knocked on his desk to get his attention, "How'd the forfeit go, Spazway?" Daisy looked up and glared at Karp. "Yeah, did you score?" Peter butted in with a smirk before winking at Daisy who looked away not wanting to deal with them today.
Charlie looked away from the others, "Leave me alone, guys. I don't wanna talk about the team." Daisy looked over at Charlie with a sympathetic smile. "Oh, yeah sure. Coach's pet. Everybody knows he likes you best," Peter taunted. Daisy went to tell him off when Karp spoke up instead, "Likes his mom, you mean." Charlie stood up quickly and grabbed Karp who also stood up. "Take it back, Karp! Take it back now!" Connie jumped up and pulled the two boys apart, "Hey, leave him alone, Karp." Peter stood up and turned to Connie, "You have no right shoving Karp."
Peter pushed Connie away leading to Guy getting up and rushing over to push Peter away, "Don't push her, she's a girl!" And soon enough, all of the Ducks were on their feet shoving each other. Daisy pushed Karp and Peter away from Charlie who pulled her protectively behind him keeping a gentle hold of her hand. It wasn't long till it went from aggression to playfulness until the principal rushed in telling them to sit down, Charlie lead Daisy to her seat but was left standing as he looked up at the principal innocently.
The principal looked around at them, "What have you got to say for yourselves?" They all looked at each other with smirks and wide grins. Daisy looked up at the principal, "Quack!" The principal looked over at her shocked as they all began to chant Quack! Quack! Quack! Quack! Quack! together which only aggravated the principal but the team knew that was forgiveness within the team. Charlie and Daisy smiled at each other as the principal sent them all off to detention where they had to rewrite the same sentence over and over again; I will not quack at the principal.
Charlie was quick to take the chalkboard right next to Daisy, playfully poking her every now and again or just looking over at her. Jesse noticed the sudden change between Charlie and Daisy, he gritted his teeth as Terry looked over at them then back to his brother. "She's already said no to you, Averman and Peter... Even Karp and Goldberg. Let her be happy, bro. Just Be her best friend," Terry whispered to his brother before he continued writing on the chalkboard. Jesse looked down taking in his brothers words before rolling his eyes and turning back to the board in front of him.
"What do you want?" Karp's voice caught everyone's attention and they turned to see Coach Bombay standing at the door. "I want to talk to you guys," Bombay said only for Tammy to correct him to "people." Daisy smiled at Tammy before stepping up next to Charlie, their hands barely touching but Charlie still fought the urge to hold her hand. "Sit down, please. All of you," Bombay said but no one made a move to listen making him sigh in defeat, "Okay, don't sit down." He looked around at the kids and took a breath.
Daisy smiled halfheartedly at Bombay as Charlie looked around at the team. "Look, What's done is done. I want to be your coach again," Bombay says as he walks into the room. "You wanna coach a bunch of losers?" Averman asks as he leans towards Bombay. "No, I want to coach the Ducks," Bombay replies instantly. "What about the things you said? You said we didn't deserve to live," Karp asks him. Bombay turned to Karp, "Karp, I was being sarcastic. Do you know what that means?" Daisy smirked at Karp as he sarcastically said "no" back.
Bombay turned back to the whole team, "I didn't mean those things the way they sounded. You guys know what it's like to be misunderstood, right?" Peter spoke up with a soft tone as all the anger towards Bombay faded, "Yeah, of course, we're kids." Daisy nodded in agreement with Peter, the two shared a smile. "So... Can you forgive me? Can I be your coach again?" Bombay asks. "What about Banks?" Guy asks from his spot next to Connie and Jesse. "He can be on the team if he wants. He should have been with us all year. It's you guys who were cheated," Bombay explains as he paced the room, "But let's forget all that crap!"
Daisy nodded as she interlocked her pinkie with Charlie's. "We're a team, right?" Bombay asks as he walked past the kids individually looking them in the eyes to let them know he was serious. Bombay glanced down at the interlocked pinkies for a second and smiled before looking at Charlie, "I made you guys, and I'm sticking with you." Charlie smiled widely at Bombay after those words. "So, What's it gonna be?" Bombay asks as he turned away from the team, "We can play tomorrow night and still have a shot at the playoffs... Or we can forfeit again and the season's over." Bombay turned around and looked directly at Peter, "Peter, what do you say?"
Peter looked at Daisy before looking back at Bombay, "Well... I guess it would help if we practised first." Everyone nodded in agreement with Peter. "All right. Let me see if I can get you out of detention," Bombay says causing them all to cheer happily. "You really quacked at the principal?" Bombay asks with his hands on his hips. "Yeah, we did!" Daisy shouted as the others chuckled. "Are we Ducks, or what?" Bombay asks making everyone cheer together. Charlie interlocked his and Daisy's hands before they all headed out of detention following behind their coach.

Later that day, the team were in the locker room getting ready for the game that would take them to the playoffs if they win. Charlie walked up to Daisy as she tried to pull her jersey over her padding, he smiled when she huffed and dropped her arms to her side in defeat. "Here, let me," Charlie offered before pulling the jersey down and fixing it for her. "Thanks, Char," Daisy smiled up at him as he leaned against the locker beside her. "Are you ready for the game?" Daisy asks him as she pulled a bandana to push her hair back for when she put on her helmet.
Charlie helped her pull her hair out of her face, "Yeah I am." She smiled at Charlie, the two being the same height. The door to the locker room opened and Adam walked in. Daisy and Charlie stepped in front of the team as Bombay turned to Banks, "Hey, wasn't sure if you'd show up." Banks looked straight at Daisy before looking at Bombay, "Yeah, whatever. I just wanna play hockey." Bombay nodded, "Good. Ducks, you all know Adam Banks." Charlie stepped forward with a kind smile, "On behalf of the Ducks, I'd like to say welcom-" Jesse cut Charlie off hitting him lightly in the chest.
Jesse turned to Banks, "Cake-eater." Daisy looked at Jesse with a frown due to his attitude, she understood that Banks wasn't the nicest in the past but even they knew he was following behind McGill and Larson out of fear of being an outcast and that's partly how half of the team became friends. "Oh! The jessman, dissin' the new guy! The Jesster!" Averman commentated only for Jesse to tell him to shut up. "Not the time, A," Daisy whispered to him getting a nod back. Jesse walked up to Banks, "Puttin' on a Ducks jersey doesn't make you a real Duck."
Jesse stormed out of the room shoving Banks' shoulder, the rest of the team followed him out either ignoring Banks or shoving his shoulder. Daisy stayed behind as Bombay turned to Adam, "They're a good group once you get to know them." Bombay smiled at Daisy before making his way out to the team's box. Banks sat down on the bench placing his bag on the ground as Daisy walked over to him, "Hey Banksy." He looked up at Daisy as she smiled, "Hey Daisy." She sat down next to him, "Just ignore them. They'll get over it, and they really are a good group of people."
She lightly nudged his shoulder before getting up and walking out of the locker room leaving him to get changed. The Ducks were losing 0-1 and Daisy was getting antsy waiting for an opportunity to go out onto the ice and score some shots. She watched as Adam was open in front of the goal but no one would pass it over to him, she rolled her eyes in annoyance with the boys knowing they were throwing the game. "Why can't they hate him off the ice?" Daisy asks Averman who was sitting next to her, he openly agreed with her knowing that winning was more important than holding a grudge against the former Hawk.
Bombay called out, "Pass it to Banks!" Charlie passed the puck to Adam who turned and scored instantly. The team congratulated him except for Jesse who rolled his eyes and skated away. The game was now tied 1-1 but the Ducks needed to win. "Goldberg!" Bombay called out, "You're gonna sit this one out." Everyone looked at Bombay shocked questioning his choice. "Listen! A tie isn't gonna help us, we need the win," Bombay explained before turning to Fulton, "Okay, Fulton, you're out extra man. Jacobs, your on. Everybody, get the puck to Fulton, that is your job." They all nodded at their coach as Fulton and Daisy fist-bumped.
Fulton looked up at Bombay, "We pulling the Statue of Liberty play?" Bombay shook his head, "No, take your shot. You may only get one, so it's gotta be good." Fulton looked worried but Daisy had faith in him and so did the others. "But Coach, one outta one?" Fulton questioned with his tone laced with worry. "Soft hands, Fulton. Concentration, not strength," Guy tells him before winking at Connie who smiled back. "That's right! Let's get the Huskies!" Bombay said before half the team headed out onto the ice.
Adam took the face-off and passed to Fulton who had the puck taken from him by the other team. Daisy noticed and rushed in moving fast, she fought for the puck and won. She got away from the other team and passed the puck back to Fulton, the two made eye contact and nodded. "Shoot Fulton! Shoot!" Bombay yelled from the bench. He shot the puck and it went straight into the net, the Ducks won the game. The team all rushed to Fulton and hugged him as Bombay cheered, "We made the playoffs!" Daisy smiled at Charlie as they all celebrated their win.
