Jim kept me company for another hour while I drifted in and out of consciousness. I don't remember when Alex walked in, but when I woke up and saw her I swear the heart monitor was working against me. It started beeping just the slightest bit faster, alerting everyone in the room that my heart beat had sped up. Alex looked over at me and I sat up so fast I nearly ripped the IV out of my arm. She laughed lightly and sat on the edge of my bed. I hugged her tight and felt her arms around my neck a second after.
"V what happened?" She whispered in my ear.
I felt her body shaking under my grip.
"I thought you were dead." She continued.
I pulled away and looked at my hands, "I can't explain here but when I get to go home, I'll tell you everything. Don't cry, as if I'd let a knife kill me." I joked hoping she would cheer up.
She let out a small laugh and wiped her eyes, "Alright, anyways I hear one of the nurses thought you and Jim were dating."
I held back a laugh, "I mean look we would be so cute right Jim?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
"I mean sure if we both weren't gay as hell." He started laughing.
I smirked and started talking to Alex, about random stuff her, how she was doing etc. I felt everything finally going ok, the pain meds kicked in because I couldn't feel the pain in my stomach and my friends were here.
I felt carefree and honestly better than ever despite the gaping hole in my abdomen. I managed to forget about the girl who had stabbed me and all the other stress in my life for a small time.
Alex looked at her phone as Jim and I started talking, I heard her mutter something. She quickly stood up and tapped me on the forehead, "I have to go, something came up at work and they need me to do an extra shift sorry."
"It's ok." I sighed.
I went back to talking with Jim before Alex gave me a quick hug and a kiss on the forehead. Jim spit water out onto the table as Alex rushed out of the room. I felt like a statue, I didn't know how to feel, was I even processing what had just happened?
That's when the softest little knock came from the door, I wasn't in the state to have another visitor and Jim looked like he wanted an explanation but instead I simply yelled for the person to come in.
I regretted my decision of not asking who it was first. The purple haired girl with bandages on her wrists and perky pastel clothes on was now standing in my doorway looking at the ground, and I had nothing to say to her.
