The sky soon turned dark after Alex left, the air in the house was cold, in fact everything was cold, it seemed as though all the life had been sucked out of the house since Lilah left. A buzzing from my phone stopped me mid stretch, I bent down to pick it up.
Unknown:
Don't forget you have a fight tomorrow! Come at 7 pm in the Pig's Pub, go to the back there'll be a person waiting tell them your name and you'll be let in.
V: Got it.
I sighed, it hadn't been longer than a day or two since Lilah left but how was I supposed to remember this. I still needed money to take care of myself so I decided that I needed to work out.
I trudged upstairs and opened my closet, I was looking for my signature black sports bra with flames, and my black spandex shorts when my phone stated ringing. I picked up and gave a monotoned, "Hello?" while stripping my current jeans off.
"Hey!"
"Oh...hi Alex."
"How're you?"
"I'm about to shower and work out because I have a-"
I cut my sentence short, not many approved of illegal fight clubs.
"A goal on my Fitbit I need to complete. I'll talk to you later."
"That's good! You're getting out of the house! BYE have fun!"
"Bye."
I hung up and draped my shorts and bra on the bathroom counter. The bathtub wasn't exactly somewhere I wanted to be so I decided against showering for now. I don't even own a Fitbit why would I say that? I dragged my hands down my face and put the workout clothes on.
The night air was crisp and cold, numbing and icy. It was nice, serene even without the constant sound of cars, the occasional siren or music from a car passing by were the only thing breaking the silence besides my breathing as I ran. My lungs felt like giving out but I urged them on my phone beeped, "2 miles completed." I didn't stop there. It wasn't enough. Running always took my mind off of things, replacing my worry with pain and the feeling of wanting to give up on trying to get more in shape. Somehow, this time Lilah kept popping up in my head at random times causing me to run harder. I made a sharp 180 turn and ran back the way I came to get back to the house. My legs never stopped moving not when my head started spinning, or when my legs started popping, not even when the tears form running against the wind started rolling across my cheeks. They didn't stop moving until I was back in the safety of my home.
I felt no better honestly.
Just more depressed and less encouraged to do anything.
I walked up the stairs and laid on the bed not bothering to get under the covers.
And let myself fall asleep.
I didn't realize how exhausted I was.
