Lilah stared at me with the same hatred as the day before.

"Hello, Veronica." She said icily.

I winced at the venom in her voice, she never calls me by my name.

"H-hi Li." I said using her nickname.

"That's Lilah to you." She said promptly.

I stood around awkwardly, aware that she didn't want me here. It stung, like a fresh wound exposed to alcohol. She didn't make eye contact, and found great interest in the sheet covering her.

"Why did you come here?" She asked barely audibly.

"I'm not sure." I answered honestly.

I felt a pang of guilt I'm not sure why, because I had prevented her from dying. If it weren't for me she would be long gone and happy. Or well dead at the least. She was coming home today though, and I didn't want to be too awkward. The nurse walked in.

"Hi V! Lilah is ok to leave now we just have to ask her a few questions and you two can be on your way!" She chirped.

I nodded and left the room leaving the two of them to talk alone. But being alone wasn't good for me at the time. Lilah had already tried to kill herself by overdosing and I'd stopped her then and now, she didn't want to be here and I was keeping her here by force. When I put it like that I sounded like the bad guy.

The nurse walked out and gave me a sincere nod, "She's just changing, she'll be out in a minute.

I nodded and continued leaning against the white wall. When Lilah walked out she didn't look at me but instead the ground. I grit my teeth to keep from saying any thing and led to my car. On the way I couldn't help but stare at thewl bandage wrapped around her wrists.

The car ride home was awkward. As soon as we arrived I bolted to the front door and unlocked it. Lilah gasped when she walked in the house, afterall glass was all over the floor. She timidly stepped through the glass ans went upstairs. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair deciding that sweeping would be a good idea. The glass crunched under my sneakers while I grabbed the broom, after sweeping and mopping for an hour or two the floor was back to being shiny.

I went upstairs to grab my phone when I saw Lilah lugging a suitcase put of our room.

"I'm leaving." She said drably.

"Lilah please don't," I whispered.
"I'm sorry."

"Sorry doesn't fix things get out of the way." She said tears running down her face.

I stood my ground.

"Get out of the way godammit."

I stood still and stared at her trying to keep my lip from trembling.

"Forget it faggot, move." She said as she shoved past me.

I expected tears to come but none did, I had no tears left to cry.

Instead I sank to the ground and felt my heart crumbling along with the relationship I'd developed with Lilah.
