Desordenar
The boys came in shortly, since dad wanted to talk to all of us. I scooted as My dad sat next to me. Ez went to the fridge and grabbed some beers.
"There you go, Pop." Ez said as he passed one. "You?" He pointed at me. I looked at the beer. I for sure need something else.
"Got anything stronger?" They all looked at each other. What? Its been a tough day. Ez went to his cabinet and pulled out tequila.
"This?"
"Sure." He handed me the bottle. I poured some into a cup and drank it. "Thanks." I reeked. Ez showed his small smile and sat down.
"The documents in the lockbox. Ignacio Cortina." The three of us looked at each other. "I grew up in a small town with the Galindos. It was a dirt poor village about 40 miles north of Hermosillo. When I was a kid, my grandmother took in a bastard Galindo's old man fathered. Saved the family from shame. Ostracized by the church. Jose never forgot."
"Shit." I whispered.
"20 years later I was a federale in Sonora. Anti-drug squad. One of my first big undercover stings went bad. Two innocents were killed. My career was over. Jose Galindo made it all go away. Saved my job."
"You were in his debt."
"And that's where the shit got complicated. Now it's your turn." My dad sat up. He looked at us, one by one. "I know you've been digging into Mom's death."
"Emily told you." Ez looked up at him.
"She came to me with some information she found, terrified of what it meant."
"Money transfers."
"We know who pulled the trigger." I said as i looked the boys. My dad backed up.
"A Nomad, a member of the North Cali Sons crew." Ez confessed. "Still don't know who hired him."
"What did Emily find?" Angel butted in.
"Bring everything you have everything you know over to my house tonight."
"Why can't you tell us right now?" Angel said as he shook his hands.
"I made a promise that all parties would be there. We all have a different piece of the puzzle."
"How you gonna get Emily to the house without Galindo knowing?" Ez asked him.
"I'll figure it out. I'll let you know what time." Everyone got up, i was the only one sitting. They all looked at me.
"Go, please." They opened the door. "I can do it." I grabbed the crutches and made the short trip. I looked at the steps.
"I got you okay." Ez said as he was on the end of the step. I took a deep breath. I handed him the crutches and took my time. I put my left foot down. I grabbed my right leg. I missed a step and fell.
"Shit." Ez quickly grabbed me. I was getting angry.
"One step at a time." He said.
"One leg at a time." I joked. I grabbed the crutches and walked behind the boys. Gilly came up with Letty and Coco.
"Grabbing something to eat." Gilly said as he looked at us. "You hungry?"
"You should come with us, EZ. Gabi works there. She's been asking about you."
"Ooh." Angel awed.
"Gaby and Ez sitting in a tree." I sang, Ez pushed my shoulder. The good one, lucky him.
"Oh, yeah? She doing okay?" Ez smirks.
"Ask her yourself."
"Don't act like you got game, Junior. Come on." I looked at Coco. The anger man.
"You coming?" He asked me.
"I dont know." I shrugged. "I gotta get some bed rest, doctors orders."
"Since when you give a fuck about doctors orders?" I chuckled.
"Put the crutches in the back, ride with Ez." Letty said. I handed them to Angel, tossing them in the back.
"Kings Road, near the library? See you there." We all nodded as they drove off. The boys helped me to Ez's bike. I sat down. Ez hopped on. I grabbed my leg and lift it over to the other side.
"Lets go." I gripped onto Ez. I placed my head on his back, looking at the people. We made it to the food truck feista. I got off the bike and went with Letty to the truck.
"You got it?" Coco asked as I gonna hop on the trunk.
"Yeah." I nodded. I grabbed the truck and Coco put his hands on my waist.
"Ready, one two three." He gave me a lift. I sat down. I cant move now. The boys and Letty went to get the food. I chilled out. Coco came with my favorite, carne asada tacos. They were chatting, Ez flirting with Gaby. I didnt touch my food since I so much in my mind now. "You Haven't touched your food." Coco said as he looked at my plate.
"Not hungry." I set the plate down. He sighed. He grabbed his wallet from his back pocket.
"Mind getting me a soda?" He asked Letty.
"Sure." She walked away. It was just me and him. He grabbed my hand.
"Que pasa amor?" He made me look at him.
"I cant fucking walk." I choked out. "Every damn second Angel and Ez are up my ass, carrying me around. Asking if im okay. I just want to walk on my own, not like im on some dog leash. And people asking if im okay, its getting on my nerves. Im useless." I didnt want to cry.
"You aint useless." I scoffed. I looked at away. "Hey look at me." He placed his finger under my chin. "Your leg is messed up, and thats fucked up. Figure a way to work around it."
"How do i do that?" I whispered.
"We can figure it out together." I kissed his cheek and gave him a small nod. I dont know what imma do. Im scared. After Ez's successful win on asking Gaby out, we went back to the club. Letty let me sit in car while she went with Ez. Through the car ride, Coco held my hand. When we made it, Coco grabbed my crutches. "Ready whenever you are." I nodded. I scooted. I jumped off the car. I smiled, I actually landed on my feet. I chuckled. Coco kissed my cheek and we walked to the clubhouse. Padrino came out.
"I'm sorry what happened to you, Coco." Padrino told him as they hugged.
"Yeah, me too, Padrino." Letty came behind us. "This my daughter, Leticia." He introduced.
"Nice to meet you." They shook hands.
"You too. So you're the one who started all this, huh?" Letty asked.
"Something like that." He smiles.
"Alvarez." I said as he shook my hand. He looked at me.
"Marisol, im sorry for what happened." He repeated.
"Aint your fault." I patted his back. He said his hellos to my brothers. I stopped at the steps going in the clubhouse.
"You know what, ill wait here." I pointed at the table from the side.
"Ill stay with you." Letty joined. Bishop came outside. He walked to me.
"Can we talk?" I nodded. "I know that Los Vatos did some-"
"Fucked up shit? Yeah i know."
"I want your vote, vengeance or not?" Bishop looked at me. I knew the way he looked at me, he wanted me to vote no vengeance.
"For what they did to Coco, i want to fuck them up. Thats my vote, fucking vengeance."
"If we're looking at the bigger picture-"
"What picture Bishop? They broke the rules. They almost killed us. I almost lost my love of my life. Sorry Bishop, but you might want to rethink that you're really voting for." I turned around and went to Letty. We sat down and i rested my leg on the seat. I was on my phone, looking if my leg would heal.
"I know I shouldn't ask you-" Letty cuts the silence.
"Say it." I placed my phone down and looked at her.
"How does it feel?" She asks.
"My leg?"
"Yeah." She nodded. I sat up and coughed.
"You know how you sit a certain way and your leg falls asleep, and it feels staticky?" She hummed. "Well, It kinda feels like that. But it also feels like it just vanished."
Angels POV
Coco walked of the room as the vote for vengeance was off the table. I was gonna go after him but Bishop told me me to let him go.
"He can't hear anything right now." He said. I sat back down, seeing my hermano walk out. I looked at Bishop.
"No offense, Bish But he really can't see anything, either." Bishop slowly looks at me. " We're not living with the fear of that shit like he is." I mean how dare he. All of this for money. "Also, i almost lost my baby sister." I choked onto my tears. "She says shes okay, thats she fine, but i know shes lying. Marisol wasn't even supposed to be there. She paid our price. Shes gonna lose her best friend, she almost lost the love of her life. My worst nightmare almost came true. When i picked her up, I felt like my whole world collapsed. My mom died of a gun shot, and now my sister? She cant even walk up the two damn steps in the front. Thats fucking sad. I know deep down, Marisol would want vengeance. Sorry Bish, but im with Coco on this one, Vengeance is a way to go."
